Squash-a-Penny is a very unique shopping experience. It’s an old general store packed full of amazing vintage advertising and so many other great and unusual pieces. There is A LOT to look at so be prepared, you can easily spend an hour or two exploring and still not see everything. If you’re a first time visitor, it can be a little overwhelming with the sheer volume of stuff. With that said, Squash-a-Penny is one of the few places in Richmond I consistently find something great to bring home every time I stop in. In my opinion, everything is reasonably priced. The store is now open by appointment only on weekends and just make sure to leave your technology in the car.

What a fun find on a Sunday! I had heard about this place and took the chance when we were in the area to check it out. By appointment only, which is great for one on one experience with the owner. She works hard and has been finding amazing treasurers for decades. If you like antique finds, check this place out. I'll be back for sure!

Haven't been here in over 10 years, but so glad to have gone back to this most delightful slice of Americana!

It is only open by appointment and admission is $10 per person per hour (two hour maximum on weekends). Admission is discounted off of purchases.

This is not your average antique shop. Everything has been purposefully curated. You will have a hard time taking it all in during your one hour appointment.

Yep, here's your dream antique store. Pull up go in Close the door behind you and you are in the past in so many ways. You need 2 hours and plenty of money! The place is loaded with ooze and ahhs! It's Appt. only now and we were able to get in and we loved it. Suzanne is a really nice lady that is very smart by keeping it that way! She finds the neatest antiques for you to find in her store! You won't be disappointed!

Wonderful place! So many neat and unique antiques. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. Store is only open by appointment but it’s a wonderful shopping experience and the owner is very welcoming. Due to the amount of awesome stuff, she does ask that you leave bags in your car. I will shop here again and again!

Wonderful place, we will be coming back if not for the merch, just for the bubbly nature of the owner. Lots of rare oddities and antiques that you wont see anywhere else. The owner does appreciate discretion. They were upfront that they dont do technology, out of respect for their establishment we obliged, and were not disappointed! No photos or phone use. They have all right to prefer that, so please ignore the low starred reviews by those that don't understand.

I cannot over emphasis how amazing this store is. I read the no purse no phone rule and respected her property and had an amazing time. Everything was so reasonably priced. It's not a shabby chic place it is all originals, no reprints, actual antique items. Susanne was so welcoming and more than helpful and answered every single question I had. My daughter came with us and Susanne showed her so many cool toys she had never seen before. Overall amazing.

great antique store. it's a very immersive experience, this store is like an art exhibit or a museum just as much as it is a store. miss lady who owns the place clearly has a passion for sharing joy. bring a flashlight and leave your phone in the car, this place is an "in the moment" kind of special. I recommend carrying cash, too. she takes card but has an old timey receipt bill for cards

Truly fantastic. You have to make an appointment but so so so worth it. The owner is amazingly sweet, with a great sense of humor. Antiques and baubles and so much to look at. 100% worth the visit.

THIS PLACE IS A MUST SEE!! The owner is amazing! So many great old things in this place to see and buy. The owner stayed open a extra 45 minutes so we could continue shopping we shopped a hour and 45 min. You have to walk thru several times to see everything! I can not say enough good things about this store! Open Friday Saturday and Sunday .

Awesome little old general store. Owner is very nice gets anxiety abouttechnology so do not plan on bringing a phone in and definately bring cash a credit card with raised numbers or a check. Plenty to see. Will definately return.

Too cool! Lots of signs and advertising and carnival and visually amazing stuff! A definite stop for all antiquers, no technology or cell phones allowed but who cares "cause you will be too busy having fun and buying great antiques! Go

Most interesting stop we’ve ever made. Unique, eclectic and definitely authentic. A step way back in time. If you like this kind of thing you’ll love just looking around. Once you’re inside the old screen door there’s something to see wherever you eyes land. And you may even find a treasure (or two). 👍

Worth the trip. I visited for 2 hours on a delightful cool summer afternoon. It was eye candy everywhere! Soon to return and I'll bring some friends with me.
