Montana Thrift & Consignment

Sometimes you gotta dig and look through some things to find some treasures! I came before and found some pastel table clothes, but I had my toddlers with me, so I couldn't LOOOOK!! I went back today during nap time & I came across some beautiful serving dishes. Then I came across the gem of a teapot, for $8!, that I knew was perfect for a last minute wedding I'm putting together. I am totally in love with how everything is coming together! This really helped bring my vision to life before the big day! Thank you Montana Thrift!!

Came in Friday for the first time and I was very pleased with my experience. Everything is very reasonably priced and the folks that helped me out were very kind. I will be back!

New ownership is terrific! Love this place. Great deals. A true hidden gem.

I used to shop here all the time because I always found great deals, but under the new ownership the prices have gotten so ridiculous that it’s no longer worth it. $20, $30, $50 for any type of brand that’s even slightly higher end. They advertise “lowest prices in the valley”, and that is entirely false. I really miss the true thrift store prices and am very disappointed with the direction this store has moved.

We've shopped here for years--as frequent as every week since we live so close. We've loved re-using what we find there to clothe kids and outfit the family, and we've found great stuff too! Things have changed dramatically with the new owners. A few suggestions in the hope that they can right the ship.

-The quality of the items has degraded and the junk just sits on the shelves without any evident quality control (e.g. I still see stuff sitting on the shelf that I donated 2 years ago). I don't know if this is related to how they've tightened up on donations or if they skim the quality items for sale elsewhere, but it's gone from best to worst in terms of quality finds at thrift stores very quickly. I'm hoping they're realizing that even thrift-store consumers respond to dramatic changes in quality of goods.

-There are many simple organizational strategies that could really clean up the store--e.g. don't combine men's and women's clothing, go through the store and re-label shelves consistent with the re-organization that new owners implemented, don't separate out the "name-brand" clothing from the junk stuff (i.e. consider throwing out the junk stuff if it isn't sold within a set timeframe)

-it smells bad! I've forced myself to check in a half-dozen times in the past 6 months and have been overwhelmed with either the sewage or body odor smell.

-a bit of a personal preference based on how the last owners operated: hire nice older ladies to work the register :)
