Update- Try the calamari appetizer! It’s really good with the dipping sauces. Great food, we especially like the red snapper al mojo (garlic and butter sauce), red snapper fish tacos and the steak or veggie fajitas! The green salsa is amazing when you order chips to start, don’t forget the guacamole too! Best place to get red snapper in the area. Been here tons, liked everything we’ve tried. We come in for lunch, dinner or take away. The servers are always friendly and attentive.

Four of us had a delicious dinner. Service was lovely, atmposphere was quite so we could actually hear each other. Someone commented this isn't the typical California Mexician food place - exactly! It is better. All four of our main dishes were good. Side of beans had real flavor and wasn't drowned in cheese. Included a little salad not just for garnish and guacamole. Rice also had nice flavor and texture. Vegetables were grilled not boiled. Prices very reasonable for a sit down, full service in a nice location resturant.

The best Mexican food anywhere in the vicinity. A hidden gem.

I always get the seafood enchilada. It is beautifully presented & full of delicious bits is shrimp & fish in a tortilla with a light cream sauce. I miss being able to sit by the window in their intimate restaurant. But the take-out food was so good!

We went there for lunch shortly before 11:30a on a Monday and were the first customers. Things were pretty sparse until noon and then it got busy quickly. It was nearly full by the time we left around 12:15p. They had only one person working the front of house doing seating, service, and taking phone orders - if that is normal (and not just a short staffing day) then I imagine that service can be pretty slow.

The green salsa is very good, in the running for the best we have had anywhere. The steak in the grilled steak burrito was tender and tasty, easily the best steak I have ever had in a burrito (I'm not an expert on burritos, but I am an expert on steak).

As expected, the prices are higher than a taqueria, but still quite reasonable for a sit down lunch in this area. We're looking forward to trying it again, and Cafe Del Sol has moved to the top of our list for Menlo Park.

This restaurant is delicious. The steak arrachera and enchiladas de mariscos cannot be beat. Prices are reasonable and there is no wait even on Saturday night. I don't know why this place isn't way more crowded.

We have been eating at cafe del sol about every 6 weeks for a number of years now. One of our group is quite a picky eater. They get her unique order not just correct but delicious every time. The service is excellent the food is even better!!!!

Great food, incredibly fresh seafood (I had the poblano rellano, my wife had the seafood taco & enchilada combo) and salads, the beef on the nachos was super tender, and flavorful. Not a fancy place, just great food and wonderful service, what a great Mexican restaurant should be!

Truly a Menlo Park gem. Freshly, carefully, and creatively prepared food, quality ingredients, and excellent service. Especially nice to find Cafe del Sol since the Mexican food options in Palo Alto are so weak.

Camarones al diabla with multiple fresh salsas – fantastic!

Excellent food and great service! The food was very flavorful and not as heavy as many places we've been. We order the beef nachos and split the fish tacos and it was enough for thr two of us. Yum!

I eat a lot of Mexican food and Cafe Del Sol is certainly one of the best in the Redwood City, Menlo Park, Palo Alto area. I would call it certainly much better that Sanchos, higher quality(but more expensive) than many small taquerias, and slightly better than Chavez(comes down to preference). To the best of my knowledge I would not even consider anything other than Chavez toqueria and Cafe Del Sol. It may seem to have a slightly different high end(more $) menu than taquerias which is dilicious, but even though their menu doesn’t say it, I has many options just ask them to customize burritos($11), nachos($9), and tacos as well. I get burritos to go(people should get to go more often) from cafe del sol about every other week and whenever my burritos are not ready the owner/manager invites me to sit down and offers complimentary chips and salsa. If dining in the restaurant is very nice and everything on the menu is delicious. Cafe del Sol is a must get in the Menlo Park area.

Great little Menlo Park gem! The chicken tostada salad is fantastic and the fajitas do not disappoint. Excellent, friendly service too.

Great blend of traditional Mexican flavors with a modern twist. Some of my favorite items enchiladas or tamales. Tends to get a noisy at busy hours.

Great service. 2pm so it wasn't busy. Fajitas and chili verde really good. Green chili salsa really good. Chips fresh made too
