Barnwood Restaurant

Went camping nearby and stopped in here the first night for our only dinner out, they were shopping to be closing soon after so we asked if we could still dine in and they had no issues serving us.
Food was very good. The smoked wings were the biggest hit, but everyone enjoyed their meals. Had some smaller micro brew beers available as well that we enjoyed.
Waitress was more than accommodating and very friendly.
Would definitely recommend if you are traveling through the area.

The only reason this place didn't get a 5* on food is because 5* is saved for restaurants that cost an arm and a leg. This place has incredible food at an incredible price. Where else can you get a plate of ribs (see attached picture) with sides for under $20 and within 10 minutes and have it be so good? Very little places that's where. Absolute gem I love going in to eat as well.

Our first time here as we were in the area, although it's not that far we just rarely head this direction. That being said we might come up this way more often to eat here! Sunday early afternoon and there was a good sized lunch crowd,but we were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was awesome and checked on us regularly. All our food was delicious and fairly priced. Yes the sides come in little plastic containers but that's ok, we're here for the food not the fine China! Nice country decor inside and out. Our kind of place! Recommended!

Great place. Standard restaurant, with good service and pretty good fried chicken and most other food.
Around 8-9 years ago, my family randomly chose this when driving up to Vermont for skiing and ever since it has been a go to whenever we drive to or from Vermont. Awesome restaurant!
Only thing I have had there that was mediocre was the prime ribs, but everything else has been good, and I have ordered a decent portion of the menu over the years.

I wish I could remember the name of our server - she was GREAT! The food was awesome as ever. I had the chicken fingers (see photo, minus 2 already eaten, lol). The pulled pork (weekends only) is phenomenal also! You cannot go wrong no matter what you order here. The staff is always smiling, pleasant, and go out of their way to help you (or get what you need). Every time I am in Catskill, I have to stop at the Barnwood Restaurant!👍👍

Great food. Pizza, taco salad, popcorn chicken were all delicious. Most pizza is pretty good but to have really good pizza with a great crust cooked perfectly was amazing. Service was also fantastic attentive and friendly.

Great restaurant, reasonable prices, casual atmosphere.
The pulled pork is great, the fish fry is perfect, and the burgers are fantastic. I could go on and on but you'll have to try it for yourself!

So, I've returned as a vegetarian, and luckily they have an amazing selection of sides, as well as fantastic wood fired pizza.

Absolutely love Barnwood. Huge portions for very fair prices, good service and a nice atmosphere. The meatloaf sandwich is an actual stop traffic experience, wings are all excellent, fried chicken is great. I've tried nearly everything on the menu and I'm never disappointed. I will say their pizza is the least memorable part of the menu (crust is too thin) but even that is serviceable in a jam. If you're looking for a place in Catskill to eat this is one of my two faves.

Ok let me start with this place hands down has the best fried food and I do t like fried food, but this place isn't oily and greasy! Their fish and pizza is amazing as well. But, for the first time today I tried their deserts today and I'm slapping myself for not trying it before. Trust, try the carot cake and amaretto bread pudding. You will thank me for it. I even bought some to go home with it was so good.

Pleasant place with a classic Americana feel and fare. Delicious food is just the cherry on top of the friendly service and a well-kept establishment.

Barnwood is located about 10 mins from Exit 21 on the NYS Thruway. It's the perfect lunch/dinner (11am - 9pm) stop when traveling on the Thruway. I expected it to be your basic American diner but it is way beyond that!
The dinner menu has most of the staples you'd expect but they are prepared so well and so tasty I was blown away. The pulled pork sandwich was roasted to perfection. Not slathered in sauce to hide the taste- rather bare, for you to add your own toppings preferences. The meat was amazing!
The New England clam chowder was seriously one of the best I've ever had. Perfect blend of spices, a touch of heat and fresh clams to die for.

The best entree is the Amazing Calamari, crispy and served with a marinara, chopped cherry peppers and shredded parmesan topped with a balsamic sauce. IT IS FREAKIN FANTASTIC!

They have a bunch of beers on tap, an incredibly friendly, attentive staff, and literally everything on the menu esp the BBQ items are superb. I went in expecting a standard diner and came out stunned with how enjoyable my dinner was. Did I mention dessert? Try the Lava Chocolate Cake!

If you're ever in that area, it's a must visit spot! It's my new regular lunch and dinner place when traveling. Very affordable too. Highly highly recommended!

Pizza, service, food, prices and coffee were perfect!! Perfect pit stop.

We got there just before a crowd came in!!! Lucky us!! The restaurant was packed already which is always a good sign. I had the St Louis Ribs....OMG, SO GOOD!! Fell off the bone good! You've GOT to try them. Definitely will be back while we're in the area.

Came here for an early dinner around 5 and was able to dine in without any wait. By the time we left, there was a line. Our waitress was very polite and kind.

The roadhouse wings were great. Came with 10 wings. Your choice of bbq or buffalo sauce. We opted for bbq and they were delicious.

The mix it up combo was a deal. Half a rack of ribs, 2 pieces of fried chicken. (Or half an order of wings) with 2 sides. The coleslaw was great. Other options included fries and baked beans. I might have forgot some others here. The ribs were tender and fall-off-the-bone. Just delicious. The fried chicken was good. Nothing extraordinary.

Prices here are very fair and reasonable. It’s truly a great value. I’d come here if you’re in the area and want barbecue food.

Wow! What great food and service! First time here , we came for lunch! Got the taco salad, bucket of rings, and the ribs and wings combo. So fresh, juicy and filling. Definitely will be back for dinner! The servers we very kind and friendly also!

Great staff and best fried chicken 🍗🐔 and fires

The place is cute, it gave my buddy and I a lot of nostalgia to eat here. It's perfectly clean, just looks slightly dated. Not complaining, though.

I had the Barnwood burger, it was very tasty and you can tell the beef has never been frozen. Buddy had the strip steak, it was cooked just how he wanted and tasted pretty nice but had a little too much gristle not trimmed off the tip.

They have the best chicken wings ANYWHERE. My buddy and I agree, they're the best wings we've ever had. They're smoked but don't taste too smoky, they're literally fall off the bone tender, they're absolutely incredible. Do yourself the favor and get at least a dozen.

This is an excellent restaurant for casual, no frills, American food restaurant off the highway. Stopped here during a road trip on our way to our hotel in Catskill. I had a Greek salad with chicken, husband had a meatloaf dinner, and we shared wings. Very reasonably priced, quick service, delicious food, and good portions. My only regret is not trying one of their cocktails which also looked great!

Very nice server. Sat immediately. Quite well known music in the background. I had the Barnwood burger which had bbq sauce, cheddar cheese, and onion rings. The fries were tasty but I loved the baked beans. Very tasty bbq sauce in the table. Slightly smoky Slightly vinegar taste.

This is what all American food restaurants should strive to be, wonderful menu with everything cooked to perfection, pizza, calamari, burgers, wings they got it on lock, can't beat the prices either, I couldnt recommend just one item, just be aware the kitchen closes at 8pm
