J&J's River Run

Friendly owner, very accommodating. He did have one tandem kayak available for us. We rented it, along with two single kayaks. Rental prices are reasonable for the 1 ½-2 hour trip. He helped us get the kayaks in the Muskegon River, from his launching area. The way it works is that you kayak down river, I believe about 4 miles, until you get to his pick-up area. There you'll deposit your kayak and the owner picks you up by bus (after you call him) and takes you back to his business, along with the kayaks. There was no extra cost for this.
We had a nice time on the river. We're not from the area and don't know if the Muskegon is normally quite shallow, but we got stuck on some rocks a few times. One of us got out and swam a bit in the river. It's not super fast moving, but there are areas with some gentle rapids (class I & II). We saw many turtles resting on rocks and tree trunks in the river, as well as some blue heron birds. We actually took about 2 ½ hours to get back to the pick-up point, but didn't get charged extra.

Michigan is a great place because of businesses like this. Well run operation, good equipment, and a nice big sign at the exit point on the river. I strongly recommend going on a weekday. Friday afternoon, 80 degrees with a breeze... only saw 2 people on the river on a 2 hour ride. Fantastic.

Great place for tubing the Muskegon in Evart. Sign up online since it gets busy during the summer so you know your group is getting a tube or canoe. Enter the river right off their lot and they pick you up a few hours later at their landing. Very reasonable on pricing.

A great river, the owner goes above and beyond to be sure you have everything you need and that you understand the route. This place is most definitely a must. Thank you John

The shortest one is closer to 4 hours definitely depending on the wind! Also there a few spots you may bottom out but that's all!
Customer service is amazing very kind and informative! Have everything you may need, coolers closed and open tubes, and ties so you stay together!

Overall 10/10 trip!

My wife and I had a great time kayaking from Crawford location! We saw several deer and 2 bald eagles in the trip, which took about 3.5 hours with some paddling and floating. John is a wonderful host and we're planning to go back for a tubing trip later this week.

Such a wonderful establishment and unmatched hospitality. Everything was easy and all efforts were accommodating. We were so happy to be provided a protective phone holder and ties for the tubes! Small details made our experience seamless and relaxing. Friendly and fun! 10/10 recommend!

This business is very family friendly, clean, and reasonably priced. I liked that there was multiple choices to float or paddle down the river in.
The scenery on the tubing route is gorgeous and peaceful. There are areas to get out and swim a bit along the route.
The river was easily Accessible from the business.
When are trip was finished, we were picked up in a very clean and comfortable bus!! John, the owner, even brought soft plush towels to help keep dry and warm!!
I'm going back and would recommend this business to anyone!!

Heard about some kids that went on a cold day and had a bad time and are trying to take "revenge" by leaving bad reviews.

Aside from that we had a great experience, staff was very helpful and polite. We were told it should take 1.5 hours in kayaks but we were able to go slow and drag it out to 3 hours. If you want to do a longer trip just need to reserve the day before. Reasonably priced and the water was great.

My wife and I took our 3 children on a 6 person raft down the Muskegon river. We were last minute arriving and the gentlemen still let take our trip and he was very helpful and the trip went very smooth it lasted a little over 2 hours. Definitely gonna be going back to j&j's River Run for sure

We made reservations for this past weekend for a bachelorette party. The tubes were great and the process was very quick to get in the water. This was the first place I have seen that provides cords to connect. We had no problems what so ever. We will definitely be back!

What a great experience! J is super friendly and works fast to get you out on the river, and picks you up quick when you land. Equipment is in great shape, and ties are provided for floats as well as life vests and waterproof phone pouches. Excellent!

Great calm 3 hour tube ride.

Picked J&J's based on its rating and I was not disapointed! The owner was very friendly, provided a waterproof pouch for my phone (just required a deposit) and kept my car keys safe until I returned. The location in Evart right on US10 made it easy to get to (just look for the blue pole barn building near the bridge). The business and property are well kept up and the equipment was in excellent condition! The start and ending point are landscaped with a gravel approach making it VERY easy to get in and out of my kayak. It was no problem to show up "anytime" (vs. a scheduled time) you simply call the business when you are done and he comes to pick you up. The river was excellent for kayaking, it's wide, the current isn't too fast and there were no low spots where your kayak might get hung up. It would be an awesome river to tube on which I plan to do next time I go!

We had a great trip with me and my two kids. River was beautiful and not too deep. Easy to wade in. Prompt pick up at the end

This will be a time always remembered. I only had to paddle twice to avoid the rocks as the water is a bit low. John does everything he can to make the trip down river an experience to share. We were in kayaks this time and will go with the raft next. JOHN IS THE BEST!
