Medio Cafe

Medio Cafe is hands down the best coffee in all of San Juan County. Daniel and his team always spoil us and greet us like family. The drinks and food are always made with great attention to technique and detail. We love this place!

Excellent coffee and service. Come here if you’re looking for a pour over on the island. If coffee isn’t your thing, try the matcha-lada smoothie. If we lived here, we’d be regulars!

Very cool space with an impressive selection of coffees available for pour overs. The ugly doughnut was awesome. The pour over was excellent and typical of other third-wave coffee spots I’ve been to. It may taste watered down to others used to dark roasts.

Very simple but high quality food. We got an ugly donut and a breakfast chorizo burrito. The donut is a warm sweet doughy perfection.. Haven't had anything like it before. It wasn't over the top, just right in the ammount of sweetness to salty. The burrito on the other hand tasted slightly plain but there was no grease, no mess and more importantly I didn't feel bad after eating it. It was a very simple, healthy and superbly executed burrito. No complaints. This place is slightly pricey but you are on an island, paying extra costs for everything. It's about right when factoring inflation. 3.50 for the donut. 13 for the burrito. Also, water is avaliable self serve. The only other thing I'd like to add is the inside is beautifully designed. It's inside a hotel lobby, but Medio is a different vibe.

Great spot for breakfast and coffee. The cafe is in the Friday Harbor Suites. We had the chorizo burrito, ugly doughnut, a cappuccino and a honey lavender latte. Everything was delicious. The ugly doughnut tasted fresh and homemade. A must if you visit. The honey lavender latte was not too sweet and the lavender taste was very subtle. Servers were very friendly and helpful.

Excellent breakfast!! Loved both the Ugly Donut and the breakfast burrito. The Spanish Latte was spectacular. Very strongly recommend this place!

This place is adorable and deserves to be in one of the high traffic water front locations. Guy behind the counter was super friendly and accommodating to a special drink order. When my drink came out they said if it’s too sweet or anything to bring it back right away to get it fixed. It was a small gesture but really nice of them for offering reassurance that I could take it back.

We went here twice during our trip and both times experienced some of the best service, great coffee and good food. Will definitely be back tomorrow!

Went with my friends to get coffee & we got some of the most delicious drinks we’ve ever had. We highly recommend the Spanish, ganache, & vanilla iced lattes! They have awesome friendly and personable staff. Def check it out

Exciting new spot! Coffee is delicious and so many fun flavor options. Honey lavender latte is so good and not too sweet. Can’t wait to have lunch on the patio in the summer

Great vegan breakfast burrito. Two salsas available. Pricey @ $11, but delish. They’re introducing vegan pesto pasta soon.

As a total coffee snob, This was hands down the best coffee we found on the islands… do not skip this place!

Awesome little breakfast place. The price was no different than a mainland place, but the food was great. The smoothies are awesome and taste healthy and delicious. The owner came out and gave us a free donut for our daughter and it was great! Also it was way less crowded than what we expected for a San Juan saturday morning, which was great with a hungry 3-year-old. We will definitely come back here for breakfast next time we are on San Juan!

Great coffee and atmosphere!

Medio is great if you enjoy high-end, single-origin coffees that are lighter in roast. I overheard someone around town complaining that this place is not very “island”, which made me laugh. Given the coffee situation around here, I would count that as a selling point. Don’t get me wrong, some of the other shops are really quaint, but most of them serve really dark roasts that just taste burnt.

If you want a vanilla latte with notes of ashtray, by all means go to the multitude of other shops around town. But if you want a bright, perfectly brewed pour over coffee by a barista who knows what they’re doing and will make an effort to remember your name, then Medio is your best bet. They also serve great cold brew coffee and matcha. Their syrups are house made and not sickly sweet.

As far as food, they don’t have a very big menu, and it usually rotates. I’ve tried the frittata and the dragonfruit açaí bowl, both were really good. Their house made donuts are irresistible.

Their hours are a little spotty. In fact, this is probably my only gripe about the place. I figure if you can catch them open, then you should definitely give them a try!

The quality of food and drink at Medio is really top notch. Their pour overs, despite limited options of beans, were consistently tasty across multiple visits, as were the cappuccinos and a macchiato. Food-wise, we tried the vegan breakfast burrito and not only was most of it made in-house, but it was very tasty. The prices of everything were a tad high, but maybe that's the island effect. Regardless, this is likely the highest quality (and maybe only?) specialty coffee shop in the San Juans!

Love coming here to get work done! The coffee is incredible and the space is so fresh and open! You can’t go wrong with any of their drinks, but the blue majic smoothie and the cortado are my favorites.

We stayed at the Friday harbor suites last weekend where Medio cafe is and loved their lattes. They make their own syrup and have a nice patio area where u can enjoy your drinks.

Wow! This was recommended to me and I wished I had visited sooner! Great outdoor courtyard for sipping your brew and lots of indoor seating as well. Great interior decor as well.
