Boxcar Bakery

I only got coffee and croissant at this place so can't speak for the rest of the menu items. Coffee was good but no the best. It is slightly cheaper than other cafes. The croissant was amazing though. It is a bakery after all so I expect baked goods to be really good.

Boxcar Bakery is a wonderful place. The women that run it, along with their employees, are very kind and clearly hard working. Everything I've had whether it's sweet or savory, or even a drink, has been great. They have awesome seasonal delights as well as some "regulars" on the menu. It's also a welcoming environment whether you're there alone, with family or friends. Definitely my go to spot and I always bring my visitors there.

Great bakery with a variety of baked goods and a very large drink/coffee menu. We got coffee cake, a GF cookie, and a yogurt parfait along with some coffee and hot chai latte with oatmilk. It was nice to see so many GF options! The quality of the baked goods and drinks was incredible. The layout of the seating area was nice and the aesthic was warm and inviting. I appreciated the fast service and the kind staff!

We’ve been a few times and had great experiences, but today was fantastic. We had the absolute best service! We walked in 5 minutes before closing, intending to be quick, and the employee serving us was an angel! They were so kind and generous, and I just want to thank them again for being a wonderful human!

Boxcar Bakery is amazing! What a treat to have this cozy bakery at the center of our town! We try to make it in twice a day. From the staff, food, drinks, and atmosphere, this place hits on all fronts! Thank you boxcar!! Grateful to have you in the neighborhood!

This is a very fabulous bakery. My grandfather and I like to visit once a week. The pastries are exquisite and well made and the coffee is delicious. The employees are very kind and always remember us! the bakery and seating area itself is very cozy. What a wonderful addition to Essex Junction!

I deliver food products in Vermont from Burlington to St Albans and to the Boxcar Bakery. I've been systematically trying various coffees and just tried Boxcar Bakery's, and I must say, it was a delightful experience that exceeded my expectations. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the espresso. It was rich, robust, and perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of bitterness to enhance its deep, complex flavor profile. Each sip was a testament to the skill of the baristas and the quality of the beans used. Without a doubt, it was the most delicious espresso I’ve had in a very long time, deserving a perfect score of 10/10. Definitely the absolute best I've had in Vermont.

But the excellence of Boxcar Bakery doesn’t stop at the coffee. The atmosphere of the cafe contributed significantly to the enjoyment of my visit. The interior exudes a rustic charm mixed with modern minimalism, creating a warm and inviting space. The use of natural materials like wood and stone, combined with the soft lighting and gentle background music, crafted a cozy ambiance that made me want to linger longer.

The staff at Boxcar Bakery also deserves commendation. They were not only professional and efficient but also genuinely friendly and welcoming. Their passion for coffee and baked goods was evident, and they were more than happy to share recommendations, which added a personal touch to the experience.

I've yet to try their baked goods, but considering the bakery’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship, i absolutely will the next time I'm there.

This is a great spot for a coffee and a treat. The chocolate croissant was delicious, the ham and cheese croissant, and the peach scone were all delicious. The wait for drinks was short and the staff were all friendly. Come for the Mocha, stay for the cozy ambience.

Gorgeous pastries that somehow manage to taste even better than they look. You have to keep coming back for the regularly changing variety of treats and you can’t go wrong- everything is delicious! But if you are having trouble deciding, the croissants are so wonderfully flaky and masterfully made!

The space is so beautiful, clean, and inviting with indoor and outdoor seating as well as an outdoor window to order out of if you are unable to go inside because you have a furry friend with you. Looking back into the kitchen you can tell everything is immaculate, the hallmarks of a team passionate about their work and meticulous in all they do. And that carries over to the service which is always pleasant and quick!

So excited to have such an incredible new place around five corners and even more excited to see them continue to thrive!

What great people! They went out of the their way to help me with a cake for my mom's 80th birthday - going above and beyond to get it delivered to her (they don't actually deliver!) before her bday. Great communication, incredible service, and my mom loved the cake! I would shop this place anytime!

An amazing women-owned local bakery with out-of-this-world sweets! The staff are welcoming, the drinks (coffee/espresso/tea) are well made, and the space is open, airy and bright. There seems to be an ever changing menu of staples (the blueberry maple scone is a favorite) and seasonal baked goods so there’s always a reason to come back. We’ve also tried a pre-ordered cake and I had a super positive experience with the staff accommodating my requested pick-up time, which I really appreciated. Love this spot!

Amazing pastries, loved the interior consistency and exterior crunchiness of their Lemon Pound Cake, loved the richness taste of their Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie, loved the lightness and puffiness of their Butter Croissant, loved the perfect balance of sweetness of their Chocolate Cake with Expresso Buttercream! Not only delicious food but the friendly and calming atmosphere inside will make you turn this into your regular spot. Highly recommend to check it out if you haven’t yet.

I do laundry across the street every Sunday so I decided to go and try them out been there every Sunday😁🎉 I like a little room in my coffee cuz I like a lot of cream she always pours it perfect the pastries and cakes ❤ fabulous tastingly good. PS just wanted to say thank you 😊

We special ordered a carrot cake for Easter. It was excellent, the frosting was creamy but not to sweet, the cake had a great texture.

Can’t say enough about how much we love Boxcar. Thr baked goods are out of this world, the coffee is delicious, the cafe atmosphere is so sweet and the staff is incredible.

Excellent bakery with great, tasty and very nicely made / presented baked goods to choose from. So creative! They have great customer service, the setting has plenty of seating and free customer WiFi was a nice bene! My new favorite western style bakery in Chittenden county.
