Winterberry Christmas Tree Farm

It was our first year visiting Winterberry and we had a wonderful experience! Found a great tree and the pricing was very fair and clear (on their website and when we arrived). The people there were so friendly and helpful. My kids even got a quick ride on the back of the tractor. Will be back next year for sure!

This place was wonderful and off the beaten track! Family run and fantastic service. It was only $56 for a beautiful Douglas fir, and 8ft tall!! The staff were helpful and measured and cut your tree. They even wrapped and wheeled the tree to our car.

This tree farm is a hidden gem just right outside of idyllic Frenchtown, so you can make a lovely day of it! And the surroundings at the farm are just as charming, with a big old red barn, quaint home, and wood shed with a chimney—just sweet surroundings! The workers are so friendly and welcoming as well! We were so impressed and happy with Winterberry Tree Farm, highly recommend!

Great experience! Our kids had a blast and the owner was knowledgeable and kind. He gave our daughters a slice of the tree and showed them how old the tree was! I called earlier to clarify they were open and they were very helpful.

We had a hard time choosing from the many great trees available! Friendly and helpful staff, great prices. Looking forward to getting our trees here from now on!

Beautiful fresh cut trees friendly people

Avoid their scams! Our family recently went here after hearing such good reviews. Trees are advertised as $56 for up to a ten foot tree and then $10 for every foot thereafter. When we got our tree measured it was 10’ 5”. We got the tree cut and the employee who cut it down measured it and confirmed with us that it’s $10 extra for the extra foot , so the tree should of been $66. No problem. Until we got to the front to pay. The employee who was charging us for the tree informed us that the tree was $110, being $10 x 11 feet. This was not clear on their website or at the farm. How does the tree double in price over 5 inches!!! Per their website as well as the employee who cut our tree told us that it should be $66. We were extremely disappointed with their non willingness to honor their pricing policy on their website even after showing their policy for which they said the website never shows true information and we were supposed to confirm day of. Even the employee who cut it confirmed with the policy on their website. Don’t be afraid to walk away from your tree if you are in this scam. And avoid this place with their shady business practice. Disappointing. I had read issues with pricing surprises, but I like the scenic area around Frenchtown and wanted to check it out. We arrived to find a sign that said "Out of $56 trees"; $10 per foot instead. That meant any 10 foot (or less) tree was going to be up to $100 instead of $56. Ok fine, we're here so we'll look. We find a tree we like... but it has a single spire that rises literally 3 feet above the tree which would need to be trimmed. We ask if that has to be counted in the height of the tree. The two younger employees look at us like they would like to help us out but basically give us a look and tell us it's going to be a no-go with the boss. I wasn't going to pay an extra $30 to $40 bucks for a "stick" sticking up out of the tree that needed to be trimmed. The tree was going to be like $140 to $150. There weren't too many other attractive choices and we were put off by the attitude, so we literally left without a tree. Their loss! I'm afraid the "vibe" of this place is nothing special. Just a field along the road. Nothing charming. Not especially friendly. Fortunately, we found a VERY friendly farm just down the road called Twin Steeples Farm where we found a nicer Blue Spruce Tree for $85. Not a big tree farm place, but much more friendly and charming at a real farm rather than just a roadside field.

I found my wife had taken a picture so I may stand corrected to some degree. My son is standing next to it so I can determine height. He is 4'2". The bare spire was about 2 feet tall based on the picture. We liked the tree but the spire looked ridiculous. The bare spire may have been even taller but the photo was taken from some distance so I had to zoom in on it and the top of the spire may be out of frame, so I can confirm it was at least 2 ft of a "stick" that needed to be trimmed.

I checked your website and it didn't see where it says anything about a limited # of $56 trees. Here is a copy/paste of your website:

Trees under 10 feet are $56
​ Trees ten feet and over are priced by the foot.
We measure your tree from the ground up and your
cutter will give you the cost before it is cut.

There appeared to be plenty of trees under 10 feet on the lot but apparently only priced by $10/foot despite your website stated pricing. I thought the tree I was looking at was over 10 ft but based on the picture it was a little less than 9 feet. It's possible my son is standing more to the front side of the tree than beside it which could mean the tree is actually a bit taller. So let's say that it was a $90 to $100 tree that I thought would be priced at $56. If we chopped off the silly looking 2 ft or more at the top, it would have been $70 to $80 and I would have bought it.

Instead, I got sympathetic looks from your younger crew but they basically passed along your inflexible attitude. I appreciate your holiday sentiment and I wish you happy holidays as well but I won't ever be back. Improve the transparency of your pricing on your website and consider the possibility that trees aren't perfect and a little measurement "wiggle" room may be warranted on the weird ones.
