Mic Drop Music Lessons

We highly recommend Chris to work with students of all ages! Our grade school child has been taking piano lessons with Chris for the last two years. Chris inspires a passion for music in his students and our child looks forward to lessons every week. He has helped our child not only learn the music but also understand the importance of practice and perseverance in learning something new. Chris is such a warm and talented music teacher! He listens carefully to his students and tailors his approach to what they want to learn, which keeps the lessons engaging and fun, while also given them enough direction to really progress in a particular instrument. In addition to working through more traditional lessons/songs, he will help students learn popular music of their choosing, which is very gratifying to perform. I credit Chris with fostering a true love of music in my son, who is now 12, and has studied with him for 3 years for both piano and guitar as well as my daughter, now 10, who plays piano. I enthusiastically recommend him!

Chris is a great musical instrument teacher with incredible talent! He is patient and encouraging, and our son always looks forward to their ukulele lessons together each week. Teaching via zoom is no easy feat but Chris makes it seamless and keeps the kids engaged and excited. We love his approach and his blend of technical skills and creativity. Chris is an amazing teacher, he has great charisma when he interacts with the kiddos and creates special bonds with each one. He makes it a point to learn each and everyone’s names and includes them all in the music activities. The kids love drumming class and look forward to it each week. Chris dedication is portrayed not only in how he introduces music to the kids, but in how well he creates an environment that supports the expressive freedom of each child through music.

It's been such a great experience learning Guitar with Chris. After too many years plateauing as intermediate guitar player with many gaps in my knowledge, I took the plunge to try actual guitar lessons. Right move! My guitar playing has improved, as has my knowledge of the instructions and my confidence to play in front of other people. Chris has been excellent at picking out the kinds of songs that help me to grow and challenge me. The videos he sends are super helpful in a way that YouTube just can't compete with. I'd highly recommend music lessons with Chris!

My kids have been taking classes with Chris Belden for more than a year now, and I could not be happier with what I have seen them accomplish. Chris has a way of reaching each student where they are - my two sons are very different learners- and Chris has been incredibly skilled to tailor the pace and pedagogy to each's own style. He brings a levity to the teacher -student dynamic, but also leads with focus and steady expectations; the kids want to work on their skills so that they can show Chris how they are progressing - and he celebrates them in kind!

Chris has been teaching my 10 and 8 year old to play the piano for the last three years and I can't believe the progress they have made: my kids have learned so much from him! Chris has been a fantastic piano teacher for my 8 year old! I was a bit hesitant to start lessons because so many kids have negative experiences and then never want to play an instrument again. I don’t regret starting lessons with Chris. His calm, thoughtful, and upbeat approach to learning make lessons fun and meaningful. As an educator I appreciate his focus on developing a growth mindset and the fact that some things come easily and some things don’t (no value judgement!) Chris establishes rapport with his students in an authentic way that make my son eager to hop on and meet with him each week.

Chris is the BEST! My 8 year old has been taking piano lessons with him for the last year over zoom, and she has learned a lot. Chris is super friendly and is able to form a really great relationship with his students over the computer. He's also a very positive and encouraging teacher - my daughter started out with no experience reading or playing music and has made steady progress and enjoyed her time with Chris.

Our kids have been working with Chris for several years and he has been absolutely fantastic. Chris is patient and is tremendous at communicating with the kids. Not only have our kids developed a love and appreciation for music, but the confidence they have developed with music has carried over to other activities. We cannot say enough positive things about Chris.

My son, now 11, has been a student of Chris's since October, 2020. We noticed a local flyer with our friend's face featured on it for Mic Drop lessons and went after it, following positive feedback from that family! He started this activity during COVID while he was home remote learning. Chris has a special way of teaching, connecting, supporting, and encouraging my son (and others based on the recitals we've enjoyed watching) that is warm, honest and very effective. My son continues to learn and play more complicated pieces along with singing, which extra wows us as parents who can neither play nor sing!
Chris's attitude and positive energy keeps my son coming back for more and we're grateful for his guidance and kind spirit.

Chris has been our son's ukulele and guitar teacher for about 6 years. He started with ukulele and has moved toward acoustic and electric guitar. I particularly love that Chris uses familiar/popular songs that both our son and we (as parents) can get excited about learnign and hearing.

It's great fun to take guitar lessons with Chris. He is patient, has a good sense of humor, and knows just what to teach me next to improve my skills. I do my lessons on Zoom and it works out great b/c Chris is very attentive to listening and watching my playing.

Chris has been an engaging piano teacher for my eight year old daughter. I am amazed by how much she has learned and how thoughtful and inspiring Chris can be for young learners. He takes time to ask how she’s doing and works to build a relationship with her little by little each week which is important for her to stay engaged with a teacher. I am a self taught guitarist who has been playing for the last couple of years. I started working with Chris to refine my technique and to learn how to sing and of course play some of my favorite songs. Six months later because of Chris I'm more confident in how I'm playing and due to Chris' patience and guidance I'm also learning how reach my musical goals.
