If you are up for a challenge and love the rush of amazing views then this is the Vermont hike for you. Expansive views to Lake Champlain and beyond to the west and New Hampshire to the east. The trail is moderately difficult to navigate and only challenging as you reach the granite summit. Hiking poles are helpful at this point. Plan to spend a good amount of time at the summit and bring something warm because it can be much cooler and windier as you approach the summit. Enjoy❤

We’ve hiked Camel’s Hump for years and usually go on the Burrows Trail or the Forest City Burrows Loop. The Loop has the best views and is more challenging. The hike from the near the interstate down to Camel’s Hump is also a nice hike with great views.

Haven't hiked this since I was 4 (so 1965) and the only reason I'm actually writing this review is to call attention to one fact that should be extremely obvious. So obvious that I can't believe any of the other reviewers didn't notice. The marker is WAY off! Camel's Hump is NOT in Waitsfield!!! EDIT: looks like it's been corrected finally.

Challenging hiking: great views, but know what you're getting yourself into. The panoramic views at the top are gorgeous. The hike itself can be fun - IF you know what you are getting into. Most important part: do extensive research before attempting the Camel's Hump trail. We did the Forest Trail up and the Burrows Trail down. The information we had was very misleading. The distance traveled and the time it takes are much greater than advertised. The Forest Trail starts off as hiking, then turns into rock climbing, and then turns into mountain climbing. It can be treacherous at times. It is not for the faint of heart, and that kind of misleading information will get people seriously hurt. If we were properly prepared, I would have given it a higher ranking. However, the misleading information makes the rating lower.
