I love this place!! Chef Sebastian has had a stellar career at top-rated restaurants, and he and his wife opened Grounded a few years ago. The pastries are delicious, and I’ve had their sandwiches on other occasions- all delicious. The ambiance is cozy and friendly, and there is plenty of parking.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Grounded Coffee Shop, and I must say it was an outstanding experience. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, showcasing a chef's culinary expertise in French pastry. The menu offered a delightful variety, catering to different tastes and preferences.

What truly sets Grounded Coffee Shop apart is their warm and familiar treatment. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere. It felt like a home away from home.

I appreciate the attention to detail in both the food and service, making my visit memorable. Grounded Coffee Shop is undoubtedly something very special, and I look forward to returning for more delightful sweets and the wonderful familiar treatment. Surprised to find this cute coffee shop next to an Airbnb we rented. I was able to do some remote work at the coffee shop. Good atmosphere with Christmas spirit. Some spots has power, and I was able to use the wifi to make some video calls. Coffee was decent too!

I recently discovered this coffee shop and have been impressed during each visit. From the moment you walk inside, you're greeted by the friendly baristas.

The menu offers a variety of hot and cold coffee beverages as well as teas and snacks. I've tried several different options and have been pleased with the quality and flavors.

Whether you need a quick caffeine fix or want to linger with your laptop, there is comfortable seating available. The atmosphere is warm and inviting.

The staff is clearly knowledgeable and take pride in what they do. They are attentive without being overbearing.

Overall, it's been a pleasant experience each time I stop in. The delicious drinks and baked goods are worth visiting for alone. But it's the excellent customer service that makes this my new go-to neighborhood coffee spot. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

I am visiting NOVA to house-sit for a friend while she’s on vacation, and needed a coffee ship while I’m here. I wanted to avoid the chains and go local. So I tried this one from a google search. INCREDIBLE. It’s so good and the bankers items are delicious. I have gone everyday since being here. They are very friendly and the line is long but moves very quickly. It’s just one of those fun little local things you have to try. I am hoping to move to DC in the next several months, and have this on my list of places to keep in my phone. 10/10!

Must try! This coffee shop has a cozy vibe, friendly staff and might I say the best coffee/croissants around! The Sugar Free Vanilla Latte was delicious and the Ham and Cheese Croissant was absolutely fantastic! It was flaky and fully of delicious flavor! If you are looking for your new go to coffee shop, then I would say you found it here!

Found this cozy locally owned cafe in Franconia. Got myself a coffee and lunch.
The decorations and staff made me feel cozy and at home.
Ordered the croque-monsieur. Couldnt believe how great it looked. Was the perfect way to start my evening. Will be coming back frequently fot this!

A gem of a coffee shop. Excellent coffee, fresh croissants including lots of breakfast options (bacon, egg and cheese for ex, so good!), and other high quality baked goods and sandwiches. Always friendly service and plenty of seating area. It's nice to see a mix of people working on their laptops but also meeting up and having real in-person conversations! Some days it gets packed but I can always find a little table or ask to share with someone. There's a little bit of outdoor seating as well.

Our family LOVES Grounded! We’re up here at least once a week since discovering it last winter. Whether it’s working with a delicious coffee and pastry in hand or family trips on the weekend, it has become a special treat for us all. My son lives for your chocolate croissant. He was really sick a few months back and couldn’t eat for a few days. The only thing he finally wanted was y’all’s chocolate croissant!

And not only is the food delicious, but the superior customer service knocks it out of the park. Thanks for always bringing a smile to our faces!!

Ps- Today, my son was bummed there weren’t anymore of his beloved chocolate croissants, but Thomas saved the day by recommending the Hazelnut Chocolate Croissant— 10/10! He also recommended the broccoli and cheese soup today and it was FANTASTIC! Thanks, Thomas!!! 😊

Everything about Grounded is great. The food, especially the breakfast croissants, is amazing, the coffee drinks are high quality and well made, and the prices -while not "cheap"- are reasonable, especially for the quality of the product. I visit at least once a week, often two or three times, and recommend Grounded fully and without hesitation

The only things about Grounded that are anything less than excellent are (1) the parking situation, which is beyond their control, and (2) the lady who always has a large flower in her hair who seems always angry and is sometimes rude.

A delightful, comfortable place with plenty of seating (tables, high tables, sofas, inside and outside), kind service and tasty coffee.

They also have some non-coffee options and a good variety of sweets (including a very tasty gluten free carrot cake) and a few grab and go prepackaged savory snacks. They might have more options in the early morning. Fairly priced too. The atmosphere was so great that I didn’t even need my headphones. A variety of people too, laptops and families and friends catching up. Just be aware of their closing times.

Grounded Coffee Shop (GCS) is my FAVORITE coffee shop in VA. I love their food! Everyone else does too because their fresh pastries sell out daily. My favorites are the breakfast egg croissants! 🥐

GCS has some of the best coffee and an affectionate staff. They make great lattes. I typically order a hazelnut latte, so they named my drink, Maile-Haze. Lol! ☕

In addition, I like how close GCS is to my place and Oldtown. I can study or catch up with friends easily. I like how Carla decorates the cafe. The atmosphere is student friendly as well as family friendly.

This cafe is wonderful, boasting outstanding staff! The cuisine, crafted by a 5-star chef, is incredible, and the coffee is just perfect. We're huge fans of this place for its welcoming atmosphere, and the owners have excelled in ensuring safety during the pandemic. It's our go-to spot for coffee in DC and we wouldn't have it any other way.

It is interesting because before writing my review I was curious about one star ones, like what could possible be so bad in this place to deserve a one star. I guess there will always be someone who woke up on the wrong foot. Oh and for the ‘for the price …blah blah blah’ , a sour coffee and a stale croissant at your favorite corner Starbucks is $9 Anyway here is my well deserve 5 plus star review:

You don't have to go to France, France is coming to you! This isn't just a coffee place, this isn't Starbucks, this place is the heart and soul of master chef Sebastièn and Carla! Everything is made from scratch and daily, good quality food, warm atmosphere, it feels like home! I admit that if I am in the 5 mile range I have to stop by, no matter if is breakfast, brunch or lunch! The only pet peeve is they close to early!!!

One of the best coffee shops you can find and go to in Alexandria and the surrounding area. The owner and his wife are very accommodating and hospitable. The pastry is superb, if you ever been to France this will be a wonderful reminder. Today I’m having croque monsieur, which is absolutely magnificent in flavor. Highly recommended for coffee as well. Visit Grounded Coffee. It does get busy during morning hours fyi.

They have the best pastries in DMV area and the service is always great .I really recommend this place if you are looking for something fresh and top notch!

I love to cozy up with a book in this coffee shop. Their coffee is delicious and isn't overly sweet. The customer service is great, and it's so spacious that there's always room to sit.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the area. A military friend of mine showed me where it was and explained to me the history of how it opened (she knew the previous owners of the shop). The lavender coffee is amazing!!!! So great that I started drinking lavender tea as a staple with my dinner (game changer). The staff are amazing, and the type of customers it attracts feels so small town yet modern. I love it and definitely recommend swinging by!

We ordered a chocolate hazelnut fudge cake for my wife’s birthday, on their recommendation. We were looking for a cake that would be good for adults and children. This cake was perfect! Everyone was so happy, including the birthday girl. Will absolutely visit again, and order more cakes and pastries!
