Aki Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar

My husband and I have been dying to come here for a long time. We live out in clearfield and don’t always venture out to alroona for dinner. I got off work early and my husband surprised me with let’s go here. We were not disappointed the server was lovely, sushi was fantastic and the hibachi servings were huge!!! I have a shrimp allergy and they took it very seriously I got the tofu hibachi with fried rice the vegetables were fresh and the rice! The tofu was nice and crunchy. I took mine home I’m going to add some tofu I have at home for it for dinner. My husband got the steak it was great

Outstanding sushi! Amazing quality ingredients, especially the raw fish and rice. Perfect thickness of rice on rolls (very thin). Pictured is the sushi for 2. Quality you would get in a highly rated restaurant in a big city! Don't let the poor curb appeal from the outside dissuade you.

Beautiful decor and nice atmosphere. Very surprising they don't have a liquor license. People next to us ordered hibachi meals and the servings were huge. We could see the huge flames coming from the hibachi grills from where we were sitting across the restaurant.

Only slightly disappointing was the vegetable tempura. The items were a bit greasy as they likely didn't cook at the right temperature. The quality for the sushi made up for it!

My kids and I have been coming here for over 6 years and every time we get the best food and service. I love the way they interact with the children and make it fun. The amount of food you get for the price is incredible! BEST PLACE IN TOWN!

Beautifully prepared and so delicious! Love the soft lighting. The staff is right there before you even ask and the food was served fresh, hot and fast. One of our favorite places to eat.

This was my first time going here absolutely loved it and will return. Food was delicious and made quote quickly hibachi style.

The food and service was wonderful. They are very honest people working there. I left my purse and didn't realize till the next morning. I went in next morning everything including the cash was still there. You don't see this happen to much these days, I'm so glad we still have honest people today.

My favorite Japanese restaurant in Pennsylvania or even the whole US.

Merit: delicious hibachi, sushi tastes awesome, BYOB
Demerit: hibachi can be bit noisy for some silent people.
Menu: for three people, I will get one Hibachi and sushi for 2!!
Comment: It is about one hour drive away, but I visit here so a lot only for eating!

3rd visit update: still as good as before! It is getting popular, so it is better to make a reservation.

Menu wasn't marked with gluten or dairy free, so we asked our lovely waiter, and he found out and then made recommendations and even got me gf soy sauce. We always have leftovers when we leave no matter how much or how little we order. The food is delicious and the best in the area for at least a 2 hour radius.

We were first timers to AKI hibachi. It's worth every dollar. The food was delicious...and I never use that word 😆 but it was! The sauce that they put in the two little saucers to put into your food was great! I wasn't sure if I'd like it so I tried alittle and ended up dumping both onto my food. I had the chicken hibachi with the salad and John got the pick 2 from the hibachi bar, it was shrimp and scallops over fried rice. He also got the volcano sushi roll. Highly recommend this place we will be going back

Hibachi is Open! Enjoyed instant cooking on the table top after a long time due to Covid. The chefs aren’t the best at little tricks, but it was fun. The food was okay, and price is comparatively expensive, around $25/person. I liked the environment, plenty of parking space, and didn’t have to wait for anything. Loved the steak, and chicken packages. Next time will try the Sushi.

GREAT strip mall sushi and hibachi restaurant close to Altoona shopping district. Extensive menu of sushi and Japanese/Asian fare for a fair price. Fun interactive hibachi bar, but be prepared to wait. Friendly staff and a clean modern decor. Great for a quick lunch or dinner. Definitely recommend.

Food was amazing. The hibachi chef was great! So much fun. They helped celebrate a friend's birthday also.

Excellent service...Delicious food...huge portions...they really make up for the poor service & paltry portions that the old Japanese Steakhouse (Sakura) was known for....place is always busy...plan accordingly.

Omg! This was my first time coming to the Aki Japanese Steakhouse & I LOVED it!! The food was AMAZING! The man who cooked our food was so friendly & cooked us an awesome meal! I had the salmon, with rice & vegetables! Heck, the rice alone, is worth it! They have this sauce called “yum yum sauce” and omg it’s so good!! The clear soup, looks like a clear broth soup, but the flavor is amazing!! It’s also BYOB. The amount of food that you get, is unreal! The next time we go, my boyfriend & I will probably share a meal. But lucky for us, we had left overs to bring home & eat today! I highly recommend this restaurant!! You will NOT be disappointed!!

Always a delicious and wonderout experience. My boyfriend had the filet mignon hibachi and my word was that steak juicy and perfectly cooked. My chicken and shrimp, was as always fantastic.

Presentation and service were great too.

Love the hibachi. And they honor our special request of no onions in the veggies, but extra carrots we eat here a good bit love their yum yum sauce. Service in the dining area has improved with us the last few times we had a courteous waiter who checked on us and brought us refills on our drinks.
