This place is awesome. I did the day pass (at the time there was no lodging). Went on a Saturday night and it was cool. Was not “overly” packed. The hot spring tubs feel good. The property cat is friendly, the front desk was amazing. I lost one of my ear buds and the dude was so nice about helping us look for it. The inside of the place is very fancy. Overall I really enjoyed myself and plan on returning to stay in one of the rooms, and enjoy the theatre.

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend stay at Hot Lake Lodge. We had been wanting to go for some time and cannot be more thankful that we finally did! The staff were beyond friendly and made the trip even more memorable, the room and lodge were very clean, comfortable and made us feel right as home. The soaking tubs were enjoyful and the outdoor cat added some fun entertainment! Cannot wait until we can stay here again and will be recommending to all of our friends/family.

A completely magical experience. Our room was perfect, impeccably clean and comfortable. The service-from checking in to our meal at the Thermal Pub- was excellent. The soaking was exactly what we needed. The water was perfect and none of the tubs were crowded. I am
already dreaming about going back!

Lovely historic hotel. The surrounding views were amazing! The hot spring water was amazing to soak in. The outside tub setting was perfect! The temperatures of each soaking area was posted for guests. Great idea!! Definitely a "go again destination "!

Really cool hotel. Obviously still undergoing renovations, but my room (209) was very cute and stylish, with a nice view of the mountains. The water running through the pipes and radiator constantly might bother some, but I found it kind of relaxing. All staff I encountered were very friendly.

I travel solo often, and I felt totally comfortable and safe here.

Recommend bringing ear plugs. Old hotel = lots of noise.

Historic place to relax and soak. Don’t expect a fancy hotel - come for the experience. After 8pm and into the night you’ll be all alone in the tubs. Tubs are 100-107F and the staff regularly adjusts the temperature so that you can handle the winds (if present).

It’s our 5th stay, it’s fun to see the hotel renovations progress each visit!

We stayed the night and had a great time. It was quiet, peaceful and the tubs were perfectly HOT! First time here and we will return! It is a little pricey but we would still recommend this to our friends and family! We’ve stayed in absolute dumps that charge more than this place and we think the price was reasonable for what you get. I did read some of the 1 star reviews and think it’s too bad that people rate this place down because they can’t bring kids. I’m sorry, I have no desire to be at a hot springs hotel and listen to kids or deal with them being all over the place. We have four of our own and this is not a place I’d bring them to. People are here to relax, not listen to kids or share a tub with them. We also did not have any bad experiences with the staff. The front desk folks were pretty quiet but friendly, but the two working in the restaurant were very nice and let us sit at the bar a few minutes before closing time. As for people being upset for how crowded tubs are. We shared the tub once with another couple and it was nice to chat and relax in the tub! Most guests shared tubs with others and people were just fine! Also, most people are not soaking ALL night long. It gets hot! Relax, have a drink or sit and play with Rocky the cat. You will get a tub to yourself if you’re just patient lol!

An extremely romantic and calm location. We had a wonderful time. The staff were attentive and friendly, the hotel was spotlessly clean. The pools are hot and worked out every knot in my back. The history of the building is very interesting and they have a fantastic movie selection for the movie theater.

I spent the day soaking here with my girlfriend. The old historic building has tons of charm. We will be making a trip back to soak and relax. Would highly recommend for any couples seaking a romantic getaway. Soaking in the hot water helped to loosen up my surgically repaired foot. There is also an old cat that lives on the property that was rather entertaining.

Definitely recommend going here to soak away the stress! The hot spring tubs are absolutely amazing, they offer different temperatures for your choosing. The environment and view tops it off! You won't regret taking this adventure!

The tubs are amazing especially this time of year. A little overbooked for the size of tubs especially if u want a little privacy but get a yurt and have all the privacy u need.

It's a very nice place to be. We have enjoyed soaking in the hot pools, the pub and the movie theater. We will stay in a room one of these days (we live locally). Overall a good experience 😀

Just passing by and stopped to look around. Had seen it years ago after abandonment and subsequent deterioration. Amazed at the beautiful restoration of this historic place. Hats off to the Manuels and the current owners. Very nice and friendly staff who allowed us to browse. Will come back sometime for a stay.

Had a great two night stay at the lodge. As others note, and the lodge reiterates, there are no TVs in the rooms, and the building is in a state of repair. However, those things added to the charm. Some mention the place is haunted. I didn’t get that vibe, but the history of the property is interesting. Rocky the cat and Gary the goose add a certain je ne sais quoi as well

Love it. Haven't stayed here yet but have soaked for the evening which was great until a kid showed up and started bouncing between soaking tubs, kids above 12 are allowed... Kid might have been 12 but did not respect the adults trying to relax. The pub was cool and all the sitting areas in the lodge were plentiful and great. Front desk made my husband wait until I was present (I was in the restroom) to allow us to go to the soaking area and let multiple parties go ahead of us (including one without a reservation), this was after we had gotten there 15 min early before anyone and could not be served because the front desk was on lunch so this was very annoying because those people got first dibs on the soaking tubs.

This place is fantastic! We loved our stay here. We appreciated the serene landscape and ambiance of the lodge. The lodge is somewhat under construction, although this did not affect our stay. The building is definitely old, but it’s fun! The radiator system is heated by the springs. The springs are really great. I will say, I read reviews on this place prior to booking and chuckled at a few of the negative reviews (mainly parents with young children and last minute cancellation guests) and there are a few things I’d like to speak up about. This is not a place for kids. The hotel accommodates them being 12+. This is noted ALL over their site and Airbnb (which is their booking agent). So there’s no mystery. This isn’t a water park. If you have young kids, don’t bring them here. Nobody is driving all the way out to La Grande, from wherever USA to listen to your kids scream. Secondly, if you need to cancel without notice they absolutely should charge the first night stay. This is a boutique hotel in a remote location. Why shouldn’t they charge you? They’ve lost business (most likely) based on your cancellation! Wow.

Okay, I’m off my soap box. If you love geothermal hot springs, old historic Oregon buildings and you’re single or a couple (and not a total dbag); go check this place out. You’ll have a lovely time.

We did not stay overnight, but we visited the hot spring facility. We all enjoyed our time and were fascinated by the rich history of not only the building but also the place. The hot spring in the lake is over 200° F. They require reservations for the hot spring, so there is a feeling of privacy while using the facility, which is a nice contrast to some of the other hot springs I have visited.

Such a cool old hotel with a TON of history! The hot springs are warm and very well kept. We stayed on the third floor and had our own bathroom. The bed was super comfortable and the environment was great. If you love history you'd love this place. Super relaxing and there are a ton of little areas to sit and just relax. With your stay you have access to the hot springs pools 24 hours a day.

Under renovation as of early 2023, this historic building has gone through many uses. Naturally geologically heated mineral lake water is piped into four soaking pools perfect for groups of up to seven. The constantly flowing heated water lends a lovely background babble to a serene lake view.

The rooms are quaint and comfortable, and heated by the hot lake as well. The whole hotel is warm and cozy even in the snow and wind.

It's very quiet but the walls are very thin so the peaceful atmosphere is maintained by everyone keeping a low volume. If you're looking for a rambunctious night after soaking, seek other accommodations.

Amazing hot springs experience with a thoughtful, creative, and passionate historic restoration. Clearly managed by stewards who have taken every detail into consideration. Very nice rooms that set the stage for a memorable and unique stay.
