Great for groups, access to the Pinnacles and other hiking that is only a few hours away from the Peninsula on a crowded Friday night in traffic. This was our first trip and so we found ourselves doing absolutely zero for the weekend - which was truly lovely. Next time we'll be back to do all the hiking and exploring. Dog friendly, nice little shop to pick up last minute supplies, WIFI @ $7 a day if that's your thing and T-Mobile works with just enough service to keep you online.

Spent a quick 1 night at Lot 56 for a weekend hiking trip at Pinnacles National Park. The temperatures dipped down to the mid-50s for late September. The campsite had half shade coverage and was nicely furnished with picnic table, fire pit, and plenty of space for 2 cars and 3 tents. There are bathrooms (really nice for a campsite) and water faucets dispersed across the grounds, within 5 minutes walking distance. Early evening had some annoying flies but they cleared out after sunset. No mosquitoes, but then again, it was late September and very dusty dry. I did not check out the pool or store at the main entrance, but there are plenty of amenities available. I would recommend the campsites near Loop C for a quieter experience, but it requires a longer drive-in and is further from the trailhead.

Camped here last weekend for the first time and it was pretty packed. I stayed at site 1 and it was a lil too close to site 2 for comfort. But the trails at Bear Gulch Day Use Area was pretty neat. The trails brought you thru caves, steep and narrow passages that were carved right out of the volcanic rocks, waterfalls, reservoirs. And all of this was from 10 miles out of the 30 miles of trails the place has. Rock climbing is also permitted. Definitely coming back to see the other 20 miles of trails. I also enjoyed the Bear Gulch Picnic area. After a 4 hour hike I stopped there and grilled ribeye, catfish and prawns and washed it down with some ale and then went on another hike.

Personable employees, nice cool pool after hiking for registered campers. Over 200 campsites on 200 acres. Campsite reservations strongly recommended, especially in Spring and Fall.

Good selection of things you may have forgotten, or run out of.
They also have ice cream treats.
What they really need is a coffee kiosk or machine!!
