Salt of the Earth

Wonderful first experience here! We ordered the bread, soup, pierogis, braised beef pasta and carrot cake. Everything was exceptional and truly tasted home made. Service was so helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. We look forward to returning and trying more of the menu!

Tha atmosphere is rustic, warm and inviting. Our server, Kristi, was a joy. She was attentive, enthusiastic and funny. The food was amazing. We started with the Burrata and Perogies & Pork Belly. Yum. Then, Rainbow Trout, House Pasta and a side of the hand cut fries. Dessert was vanilla Gelato and Creme Brule. The chef came out to get our thoughts. All together a special experience. Highly recommend.

What a fabulous find. Celebrated my husband's birthday. Food FANTASTIC! service impeccable.
Will make the 2 hr drive again. Yes, 2 hrs as it's between our home & our daughters, so a nice meet up point.

This tops my list of favorite restaurants - one of the most delicious dining experiences I've had!
It's been so long since I've had a meal where there is no rushing - plenty of time to enjoy, socialize and savor the meal.
The presentation of each dish was beautiful and elegant, with even that being outdone by the freshness, creativity, quality and extraordinary taste.
The chef is incredibly talented and humble, and the waitstaff were gracious as well.
Overall an amazing experience!

The staff at Salt of the Earth treat their guests as family. We make a point of eating dinner there at least once a month.
We have tried almost everything on the menu and have always enjoyed our selection.
The food is locally sourced, they even have their own garden.
The cocktails are amazing also

This was our second trip to Salt of the Earth. It was just as great as the first time.

Our appetizers were incredible. Absolutely loved the pickled beans with the Chef Plate and the Pork Belly was great and I loved the sauce with it. I forgot to take photos of that, but it was amazing.

I had the hanger steak with vegetables. The only thing that was disappointing was the waitress mistakenly gave my medium rare steak to a family member and I was given their medium well steak. I noticed right away but we had both already began eating and they didn’t want to swap. It was still delicious. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were great.

My husbands salmon was perfect, he really enjoyed his meal.

Everyone in our family loved their dinner here. Including my three kids. One had steak, the other two had pizza & macaroni and cheese. All of it was great.

We finished off our dinner with some deserts I forgot to get photos of the amazing blueberry ice cream the kids had. I was sad they were out of the lemon dessert but opted for the chocolate mousse and it was very rich but delicious.

I’ll always look forward to dining here when we are in town.

Worth making a trip to Fennville just to eat here. We ordered 2 sharable plates each and it made a generous meal. Everything was delicious. The aged cheddar perogies were exceptional. And great service too!

First time here and we absolutely loved it. Great food. Literally the best brusslesprouts we have ever had. Very smooth smokey old fashioned. Locally sourced, delicious food. Wonderful service as well.

Meal was delicious from start to finish. The vegan sweet potato black bean patty was the perfect entree. The ingredients and presentation couldn’t have been any better and I appreciate the vegetarian options. Our server made it an even more pleasant experience!

My family had such a great experience at Salt of the Earth! The whole family enjoyed the bread board to start. We got a side of brussels sprouts to have as an appetizer as well. I was worried I wouldn't like the maple balsamic combo but it was perfectly balanced. The kids mac and cheese was unbelievable. My daughter has eaten many restaurant mac and cheese dishes and declared it the best ever! I also had pasta, a chicken and vegetable dish, and it was fresh and light. My husband had the hanger steak, it was tender and the chimichurri was bright and complimented it well. Lastly, my son got the salmon which they were happy to customize for him (switching out the sides for fries) and he was super happy with it. We got the s'mores for dessert and it was huge and over the top but definitely a must try at least once! I almost forgot, we got a couple of their specialty cocktails and they were unique and delicious. Five stars, can't wait until we are back in Fennville so we can visit again! We got lucky and were able to be squeezed in when we visited but next time we will be sure to make reservations in advance.

Beautiful menu and delicious food. The bread plate offered a lovely taste of their homemade breads and the perogies were a perfect appetizer. Scallops and hanger steak were absolutely amazing. Get the vegan chocolate mousse for dessert!
Edited 2024: OMG the spicy Cajun tofu was life changing. It's not labeled as vegan but it is! The vegan pistachio gelato is phenomenal. One of my favorite restaurants ever!

What a find! The location was a wonderful small town atmosphere but the quality of the experience was definitely high end. The garden-to-plate promise holds true with so much flavor in everything we ordered. This Walleye melts in your mouth.
When we fell in love with the basil hummus, we had the option to take some home! Excellent staff too. Kristy and Alex made this a memorable night for sure!

Brought my four girls here for Mother's day dinner. The service--Gracie--was impeccable, the tenderloin was to die for, everything was absolutely incredible. The s'mores dessert was the perfect sweet ending. Worth every penny. Highly recommended!

What a gem in Fennville. My partner and I visited to see the poppyfield up the road. Stopped in and boy was this place busy and filling up fast (and for obvious reasons I was soon to discover). We were able to squeeze in at the bar and man was that a treat.

Both bartenders were so sweet and made a couple of mean cocktails. I got the Paloma, and I was not disappointed.

I also ordered the Pierogi appetizers and the bread plate. I really enjoyed both thoroughly. The pierogis were soft, and the cabbage underneath was so good paired with each bite of pierogi. The bread plate is just like you think. Has 3 different types of bread - 2 pieces of each. Served with butter topped with black salt.

I ordered the scallops and was not disappointed. Perfect crust on the outside while being buttery smooth on the inside. Also had a side salad that was your standard run of the mill salad.

Price was extremely reasonable for the amount of food and drinks I ordered today.

If you're looking for a fine dining experience where you can come as your are this is the place. Every dish we tried was fabulous. We are vegetarians and there was plenty of options for us. Whether you are driving from Holland, Saugatuck or South Haven it's absolutely worth the trip!

Coming from someone who lives in Chicago, one of the best food cities in the US, Salt Of The Earth was a top tier experience. Definitely have to preach about our server Nasario, first and foremost. I don't think I've ever had a better server. Eloquent, friendly, funny, and totally on top of everything. Everything here is good, but make sure you let this man steer the ship a little, his recommendations will not disappoint, and he knew the food and cocktails very well.
Speaking of the food, everything was fresh, delicious, and cooked perfectly. I was impressed by the XL nature of my Scallops, and how evenly they were cooked. As far as quality of food and service go, this was a more memorable experience than a lot of restaurants here in Chicago. If these guys are going for their 1st star, they're right on track to doing so.

Wow! I wish I could give them 20 stars. This place is heaven for a sustainability advocate like me.

The chickpeas patties are to die for. All food we tried was delicious, creative, and well presented. Our server was super friendly, and the ambiance perfectly represented what they stood for.

We called to make a reservation, and they were all booked. We took the risk to come anyway, and we got lucky. Worth it!

Don’t miss their little garden next to the parking lot.

This was quite the experience! The pace was slow for a relaxed experience (plan to spend at least two hours on dinner). The food was OUTSTANDING! Everything exceeded our expectations (Bread plate, whitefish, steak, s’mores dessert, and espresso ice cream). We loved the farm-to-table menu items. Our waitress Kristi made the experience so enjoyable. My new favorite restaurant!

A magnificent restaurant with the best and freshest ingredients. The service was exceptional, we sat at the bar, the drinks were beautifully constructed by an expert mixologist, Kaitlyn, and the overall ambience was cozy and welcoming. SotE is definitely on my go to list of restaurants in the area.

Salt of the Earth is amazing. They make some amazing food combinations. They friendly and willing to help in any way. Fabulous meal and will go back next time we are in Michigan!
