I cannot describe how pleasant my experience was with the Van Alstyne Post Office today.

A package was listed as delivered. When I checked, the package wasn’t there. I called over to the Post Office and spoke with the Post Master.

Long story short: he asked that I give it another hour or so and if the package hasn’t arrived to call him back.

I did get the package about 45 minutes later. Didn’t want to call to the Post office again since I was sure they were crazy busy.

In an act that I don’t see anymore, the Post Master called me back to confirm I received the package. Love the follow through

This post office in Van Alstyne is getting worse. Amazon and USPS website says your package has arrived at the Post office/PO Box at 7:23 am on Monday morning. I go in on Tuesday afternoon to pick it up with the USPS number. Their answer is "she is back there sorting and it will be available to pick up in the morning". If you are not back within 3 working days, then it is shipped back to the sender. I have to work for a living. This is becoming a norm. The people in town are making this a common discussion. Medicines have not arrived on one occasion in the last 6 months.

It would be awesome if they could simply answer the phone once in a while.

I'm getting about 5 to 7 daily newspapers in a single day after missing for a week or so. They're terrible. Someone needs to be fired but no one in the government ever loses their job. Sorry VA is growing. Not my problem.

The post office itself is fine but I still struggle with the fact that mail is not delivered to homes in town. Not all homes mind you, all of my neighbors get home delivery but I've tried for 9 years to get mail delivered and get nothing but excuses. Pitiful that's its 2024 and I still have to drive to the post office to get the mail.

They hold your mail ILLEGALLY and make you pay an exorbitant fee if you want a PO Box EVEN THOUGH WE DON’T HAVE A CHOICE REGARDLESS! Then they claim it’s perfectly legal, EVEN THOUGH THEY WOULD BE KEEPING YOUR MAIL FROM YOU OTHERWISE! These people are dumb, slow, and always screw things up. Don’t move here.

If I could give zero stars I would.

I went into the post office and Tamra (sp) was the only one working. She was very rude and smart with me about me coming in to pick up / check on a very expensive rare package. I wanted to be able to pick the package up directly instead of it sitting in mailbox. She, in a very disrespectful tone, told me I would have to go online and pay extra per package to have the packages intercepted?

I simply explained my situation- gave her my ID with name and address. She began to explain to me that this is no longer a small town, she isn’t going to do that for me, something about it being “illegal” ( lol to get my own package directly), and then went on to tell me “if I don’t like it then call the 1-800 number)

She then went on to talk bad about another employee and say “he will do illegal things so I’m sure he would help you”.

I said there is nothing illegal about it and she rolled her eyes and walked off in the middle of the convo.

I asked for her name and she refused to give it to me (found out later) and said “I am the only one working here right now so call them and they can figure it out”

She was very unprofessional in the tone and demeanor she carried with me, she talked bad about another employee to me, and then refused to provide me information and just walked away!

I finally go back to get my package a couple days later and what I thought was going to be a quick pick up- turned into the Post Master belittling, yelling, and being completely UNPROFESSIONAL to me- the customer.

Without even asking me a question- In front of 5 other customers behind me- he started to aggressively tell me, “ do not ever come in here again and yell and be disrespectful to my employees!” He was going on and on and I stopped him and said, “wait a second, I never raised my voice once and your employees was rude to me. Maybe you should ask me my side or get the full story before you attack me.”

His response in short was, “ I don’t need to hear what you have to say, I already heard from two other people” (granted he could only hear from one since she declared she was the only one working and corporate can figure out her name).

I then tried to explain but he kept cutting me off then he threatened to send my package, which he was now displaying in front of me taunting me, back and I won’t get it. He commanded his employees go well out of their way for customers and I should be thankful”

So he is defending his employer without any proof or the full story and now telling me how great they are for me- not true at all.

Then he tried to say I was being rude with him.

He didn’t even ask me what happened or anything and attacked me, threatening to do what he wanted with my mail, and tried to make me look like I was in the wrong in front of 5 other customers.

I grew up in this town- lived here for over 30 years- and to be treated with complete disrespect and without even asking a question to see if maybe he needs to reprimand his own employee- he attacks me and makes my character look bad in front of customers because he is only willing to yell and accuse me of something I didn’t do then not let me speak about how his employee treated me. Instead, his first and only approach is to instantly ignore my side and tell me not to be rude and disrespectful.

I never raised my voice nor even said anything other than I will be reporting them.

My dad worked at USPS for over 35 years and retired with them. He has never seen complete incompetence and disrespect like this before.

I will be reporting to cooperate but wanted the community to see that this business needs to have an overhaul. Only one great guy in there that has always been kind and respectful and who does go out of his way. It’s unfortunate I cannot praise him in here because I fear he would be treated poorly by the other staff and Post Master.

Goodness, I've never been spoken to so sarcastically. I went up to this office to get my keys for a mailbox in our neighborhood we just moved to, as I was told to do. I was told by the gentelmen in the front that the mail woman would drop them at the front door. Thats it, nothing more. I went up to the office 2 more times on separate days, still no keys. So I called and spoke to the post master who was the most facetious of rude to me advising information I never received any of the other 3 visits where I personally went up there. He was so incredibly scarcastic to me about what should be done.
I'm a very passive aggressive person and avoid confrontation, but this rattled me pretty good since I've never been more disgusted on how I was treated. He continued snye comments even after calling me back. I wasn't even rude with him until he started these comments because it upset me, because I in no way deserved to be talked to like that for asking simple questions. I've never had community mailboxes so excuse for not knowing the post office "information" never provided to me until this conversation.
I worked in customer service for years so I'm ALWAYS extremely nice even through certain situations so I'm completely shocked at this interaction. No way I'll ever give my business to this location or ever go up there again. Seriously poor way to treat nice people.

Awful services all the time. The packages are always damaged in some ways, or missing even when they state they have been delivered. Every time I use fedex or use UPS I don’t have any issues!
