Today, I wanted a sturdy microphone stand. Ryan showed me a nice K&M floor model. This stand is made in Germany and the price made me smile. He was happy to answer my questions, I never felt rushed.
Thank you Grandma's for supporting local artists like myself with attentive service and low prices on great gear. Grandma's exceeds my expectations. I would recommend Grandma's to everyone.

friendly service and good prices. I purchased an attenuator and a new guitar in the past 6 months from Grandma's. In each case they helped me get exactly what I wanted by special ordering it. Both items arrived in a few days and beat online pricing!
I never feel any sales pressure when in the store checking out gear and always get friendly service.

I am new to Albuquerque and new to the guitar. I dropped in to Grandma's and have had only the best of customer service. No pressure and very educated staff. Great information and recommendations.
Steve and Joe in guitars are wonderful to work with. I have been in customer service for many years and truly appreciate the professionalism and care customers receive at Grandma's.

I have purchased numerous guitars from this location. The staff is friendly and courteous ensuring the right guitar was found to suit my needs.

Larry, in the service department, has setup every one of my 20+ guitars and does an excellent job attending to detail so the guitar plays with the proper intonation and perfectly set action. A basic setup is priced far better than other local luthiers and the quality and detail in each setup is worth it. If you want a professional setup or repair, go to Grandma's Music and Sound and find Larry.

So far I have only been here once but I had a good experience here. I came to get some cables and to look at drums and was helped immediately. I'm new at drums and just wanted a decently priced shell pack. The employees were very nice, made recommendations, showed me how to use a drum key, and I got a great deal on a used shell pack. I was a bit worried after reading the reviews because I am female and have always been pretty intimidated by music stores anyway. But at least when I was there, I didn't get any stuck-up elitism from anybody. (I'm also a guitarist but I haven't bought anything in the guitar department yet so I can't say if they're worse over there.) I recommend this place over Guitar Center and I will go back even though it's way further away from me!

We love Grandma's! My 12 year old daughter is an avid guitarist and had been saving and shopping for a Floyd Rose style electric guitar. Steve (and others) in the guitar department patiently helped her for months - showing her guitars, letting her play them, and talking to her about them. They were so great to her. Then, after she bought it she needed some help learning how to tune and maintain it. Larry in the service department invited her to come to the shop and learn from him. He happily went through the whole guitar for her and showed her how to tune it and take care of each part and gave her advice on which tools to buy to do it herself. Thank you Grandma's staff!

I am a 70 year young beginner drummer, (learning an instrument, yea it's on my bucket list). Grandma's music has been my hero. The guys in the drum dept will go above and beyond to see you are taken care of and save you a bundle. Prices are more than reasonable. Service outstanding. Matter of fact I go there sometimes just to hang.

I have been to Grandma's twice over the summer. The first time I went it was because I was itching to buy a new bass ever since I played a groovy American P at Guitar Center, but decided I would rather not break the bank when I already have pretty servicable basses. They don't have all their used inventory online, but I found a unique, semi-hollow Waterstone bass that is pretty much impossible to find anywhere else. It was a really fair price, unlike other guitar stores which try to sell "like-new" equipment for "like-new" prices. Guitars are the same as cars, imo, once you drive them off the lot they go down in value. I really like the unique selection of basses here, too. It is not like guitar center where they put all the piece of crap Squire and south of the border Fenders, along with beginner-tier Epis and Ibanezes closest to where people can actually play them, then put the halfway decent stuff 8 stories high, and only have one crap amp to boot, so you have to sit around for 20 minutes before you can actually play something!

Anyway, I really loved that bass, which I got for about 60% of full price, although it is not in production anymore. Then I wanted to buy an acoustic guitar, and I have been a four stringer all my life, and honestly knew nothing about 6. I felt comfortable going there because at guitar center you often get treated like garbage for not knowing what you're doing. The salesman was really helpful, and when I was going to buy a more expensive guitar, he suggested I buy a cheaper one instead. It's rare that you find a salesman with enough respect for who he's selling to to actually talk you down in price. All in all, I love almost everything about Grandma's, except the fact that I live so far from it, and they close at 6:30 on weekdays. While I might still buy strings, picks, etc. from guitar center down the street, I will spend the big bucks at Grandma's.
