Quanassee Path – Cherokee History Trail

A beautiful little corner of Hayesville. There's well labeled plant life, maintained well and presented in nice fashion on the walk. Plenty of details of the region, the various Cherokee tribes that once populated this section of the Hiawasee. Words are presented nicely in case you want to pick up and learn some Cherokee (I do :) ) yourself.
Birds and native insect life are thriving here and while the history was not kind to our native American brethren, it is easy to see why they favored this region of Western North Carolina. Bring your camera, and some walking shoes and just enjoy a peaceful stroll. Or a notepad and questions, and dig into fascinating history.
