Chef Jared’s food is always amazing. Burlington is so lucky to have him and his little restaurant, the Hawaiiowan.

A lot of love and imagination goes into this food. Portions are large and satisfying. I recently got the bibimbap with beef and the beet + goat cheese salad—amazing and I had lots left over for lunch the next day. Atmosphere is cozy and the drinks yummy. Great dessert drinks and menu too—I love the bread pudding!

I have not tried them, but there are also lots of vegan options!

The restaurant is on the smaller side so I definitely recommend making dinner reservations on the weekend. Thanks for all the love and hard work you put into the Hawaiiowan, Jared!

Classy, romantic vibe with table cloths & mood lighting. Fleetwood Mac in the background. Wowee, food was AMAZING! Unique well-combined flavors. Perfectly cooked fish. The bread pudding is to die for. We were a lucky walk in, reservations are recommended. Dressing up is unnecessary, a come as you are place, but the environment lends well to an anniversary or special occasion.

The exterior was hard to find. Not adequate signage or lighting. There was an open sign bit I didn't know what was open. And they said they were open still serving. Once we got inside and seated it was very nice. Kinda like a mini Martini's without the view. The menu options were amazing. Have a great drink selection even though I don't drink. The. Decor is very appealing. Overall a great place. I wish them success.

Great savory menu selection and very boutique atmosphere in old down town Burlington. As a world traveler it is great to get a chef that has traveled as well and learned to infuse tastes and flavors from all over.

Highly recommend for taste unlike any other in town.

Food was great! Prices a little high for serving size, but it was nice to have something a little different.

Wonderful dining experience. Quaint, cozy atmosphere. Fantastic food with adequate portions. Fast, friendly service. A little pricey but worth the expense for the overall experience. The menu is limited but the options are unique and prepared in gourmet fashion. Kudos to the chef!

Jared is a true master chef. Every dish he puts together is well thought out with perfectly blended flavors. Never had a bad meal. Cannot recommend enough!

From the moment that my wife and myself walked in the front door it was exactly what and where we wanted to spend our 11th anniversary. The atmosphere was intimate and special from the dimly lit tables to seeing the passionate owner/chef smiling when you ask what his favorite dish to prepare is. The watermelon salad appetizer was deliciously light starter. For entrees we had the seared Ahi tuna and oven kalua pig with cabbage that were plated beautifully. The Ahi tuna was delicious standing alone and then when you add in the seaweed slaw, jasmine rice, and Wasabi aioli it was an explosion of flavor. The pig and cabbage was so tenderly cooked that it would melt in your mouth and had a nice serving of jasmine rice and potato salad (that would be a fan favorite at any summer cookout). We finished with a crème brûlèe to share (the first time my wife has had this desert) and it didn't disappoint! We will be dining here again in the near future and have already suggested it to our friends.

This is one of the most intimate and amazing dining spots in Burlington and along the Mighty Mississippi River.

The chef has traveled the world and brought his flare for Hawaii to Iowa in a way that makes your mouth sing and your tongue tingle for more! This traveler will be back for more.

Higher prices but make a reservation in advance!

Fantastic atmosphere and food was unique for this area and delicious!! Best sea bass I’ve ever had!!! Unique drink and dessert menu!! This is food you will crave!!! Service was top notch!!!

Love the atmosphere. The food and drinks are spectacular! The flour-less chocolate cake paired with their coffee is scrumptious.

We had a reservation seated promptly, busy place . Drinks, dinner and dessert everything was delicious.

Had the Kahlua pork with noodles and spicy sauce. It was delicious. Wonderful service and quiet atmosphere. Great place!!!
