I recently hit up this burger spot I loved back in college and, man, it's still got it! The burgers are just as amazing as I remember, totally taking me back. Sure, it gets pretty packed, and I've waited in line for up to 15-20 minutes, but honestly, it's so worth it. Seriously, if you haven't been in a while or ever, you've gotta check it out; it never disappoints.

Easily one of the BEST burgers money can buy - a must try! These burgers are unique and charbroiled to perfection. The line ups are worth the wait, the prices are super fair and the food is amazing. You get to enjoy endless toppings and cheap, cold beer on tap. It’s an old school BBQ spot worth visiting. Can’t wait to get back here!

This was probably the best burger I've ever had. The whole experience was fun! A delicious beef burger wood grilled right in front of you. A condiment bar to customize it however you want. It was so good!! We also had beer battered onion rings and fried zucchini. Also, some of the best I've ever had. My only complaint is that I live out of state. How can I ever go back to a chain burger place?! I guess I will have to move here!

This is a great burger! Straight forward burger cooked on mesquite with nice char marks (without being burnt). You stand in a line and basically tell your order to the person there, they stick toothpicks in the bun so the guy cooking knows what to make and when you get up to the front of the line you pickup your food.

We got two little ones and one big one along with a side of beer battered zucchini. The fun thing about getting a big one is that when you get up to get your food and the person says “you got a big one?” You can confidently say “Yes. Yes I do.”

There’s a condiment bar to add all your toppings. We all thoroughly enjoyed our burgers, they’re really a step above anywhere I can think of. The beer battered zucchini was excellent as well. I got a 16 oz beer as well which was good. Overall an amazing burger that somehow doesn’t sit heavy in your stomach.

Chuckbox always delivers up the best burgers. It is a must to bring family and friends here and they always end up loving. The Tijuana Torpedo with green chile and pepperjack is amazing and so is the bacon cheeseburger! Grilled right in front of you. Large toppings bar as well. A unique sit down area inside and seating on patios outside. This is a cash only place and it does have an atm on sight. It does get very busy and parking lot fills up fast.

Had time to kill, so looked around Mill for a good burger joint. Not much to choose from, other than some bars with meh ratings. Found this a bit off Mill proper, but reviews were glowing. Walked over to it and went in to find a restaurant, rich with smoke and heavenly aromas. Was a little noisey, since it was conversations on top of yelling orders but not obnoxious.

I ordered the standard "Big One" with American cheese and fries. Got a large drink and condiments are self serve for no extra cost.

So first, burger was a bit of a wait, as it's made right there in front of you pretty much. While this is good for the food (more on that a bit later) it can be a bit of a double edged sword.
Second, once finally got the burger and went to pay, it was ~$16.50 after tax. A little high, but not unreasonable.

Now for the taste (for condiments, I added lettuce and ketchup) : It was absolutely outstanding. The time it took to prepare, the seasoning, the buns, everything was wonderful and easily top burger I've ever had. The burger was juicy but not dripping, the cheese was melted but not runny, the buns were fresh. It was all an amazing package and I loved it.

BUT

The "Big One" certainly looked a bit intimidating, but there wasn't much actually there. I was finished before I knew what hit me. I didn't time myself, but I think I waited longer for the burger, than I actually took to eat it. That's my first problem: timing. There was so much waiting, so much delicious smell in the air, so much watching it cook that by the time I got to enjoy it, it was all over. It's hard to describe, but basically the burger didn't last long enough. Now, that might be fixed on the double big one or even the great big one, but specifically for the "Big One" it seemed a little not enough for the wait time.

Second problem for me was the price. Sure, I got to experience probably the best burger I've had, but is that worth nearly $20? If you are flush with cash, and time, I'd say absolutely. But if not, you should save up, come here for one great, gloriously delicious burger or two, then save up and come again later.

I stopped by this establishment on an early Saturday afternoon and the line was out the door(which is always a good sign for me). I ordered the Great Big One which is a 1/2 lb burger with cheese and Beer Battered Onion rings .The burgers/chicken whichever you decide to order is prepared right in front you as the smell from the grill just penetrate your nostrils. Besides their delicious mesquite broiled famous hamburgers and chicken ,The Chuck box also offers a variety of different side items including fries(chuck-box potatoes), deep fried mushrooms, deep fried zucchini and premium beer & old fashion root beer as well. Safe to say I will definitely be back again. Oh this is a CASH ONLY place but there is an atm inside.

Wow! Loved everything about this place! Fun outside dining, great atmosphere, the people there were wonderful and the food was outstanding! Too bad I live in Seattle 🙂 but I'll be back!

This is how a hamburger should taste. I think it might be my favorite burger place. Wood coals, perfect amount of char, flavorful, and simple-no crazy frills. Just good simple, BIG burgers. Will definitely keep going back! Too bad it's in Arizona ... I live on the East Coast and will have to keep visiting to enjoy this place. 👍🏾

Great burger. One of the best I have had in the PHX area. The burger was well flavoured and I think the mesquite contributed.

If you like root beer, it a great.

A must do if you are in the area..

Place is chaotic af. Nobody knows where to stand or where to wait or what to do and I wasn’t even there on a busy night. Only maybe 5-7 in front of me. Efficiency/sense of urgency is almost non existent…but I understand that’s part of the appeal. Place is “too cool” for all that nonsense. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Waited for probably 15 min for a basic single patty burger. Thought to myself…this better be good. And..it was. And prices are very reasonable. Couldn’t imagine going there on a busy night but if you like chaotic places with a one of a kind ambiance and damn good burgers…you’ll surely like it. End of the day…it’s either your vibe or it’s not but it’s worth finding out.

The quality of these burgers is absolutely superb. The rich char flavor the flame grill brings adds a nice texture to the patties. The onion rings and jalapeños poppers were amazing as well, crispy on the outside and filled with flavor on the inside. I also love the vibe of this place, it was bustling inside and you see your burger being made as you go through the line. The buns and toppings aren’t anything special however.

We have years visiting this place.

I come here very often with family, friends and clients.

For all of us, this is the best hamburger in Phoenix.

My favorite is the Torpedo.

Amazing.

No other place in the whole town has this flavor.

Well, now I see why this place has such high ratings. Delicious, no frills burger cooked over wood fire. Fries were super tasty as well. If you're in Tempe and love burgers you NEED to check this place out. I'll definitely be back.

Best burgers ever .... Usually. This visit I had bacon on my burger and didn't much like it ... It was tasteless with a cardboard texture!! I also had fries and on this occasion they weren't cooked enough... Limp soggy things, however, still five stars because every other visit has been fantastic and we will continue to fight the traffic and secure a parking spot because we enjoy sitting on a crate and having burger juice run down our arms.

We re lined up to the door and they still took orders and served us quickly.

Had not been here in a number of years but it was just as great as I remembered it. The burgers were cooked perfect and the fries were good. The prices are also amazing compared to most other places these days. One very important things to note is that it is cash only! I cannot recommend this place enough.

Great little place with a great burger! The service is perfect, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the burger was really good! I wouldn't change aa thing. The condiments bar is well kept and the over-all restaurant was clean. The fries were nice and crispy. We can't wait to try through this menu.

This is honestly one of the better burgers I've had in recent memory, and it didn't cost $25. I'll start out by saying, I used to love 5-Guys because it was reasonable and fresh and you could put whatever toppings you wanted on it.

This place is exactly like that, but cheaper and better tasting! (I would still say 5-guys fries are better)

You form a line and order when you get to the front, but it goes pretty quick. They offer smaller burgers for less hungry people, or you can order a literal one-pound double bacon burger that is sure to take two weeks off your life. Then you watch your burger cook and head down to pay.

After getting your food, they have a little condiment bar in the middle of the place that you can add as much as you want of anything you want.

Overall a great place that I wish would start franchising so I could have one closer to my house.

Burgers are delicious and juicy. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger and the big one. The grill it fresh right in front of your eyes. Fixings are self serve, so you can make it anyway you like. Lots to choose from and they restock it constantly to ensure things are fresh. Line moves quickly so don't be deterred if it's long.
