Goldminer's Daughter Lodge

I’ve only been here for one day and I can already tell you it’s amazing. Amazingly helpful and friendly staff, great food, great rooms, and of course the location can’t be beat. Oh and the hot tub is also amazing - actually hot!!! THANK YOU for making our Christmas trip so amazing.

This was a great experience from start to finish. Friendly and very helpful checkin that allowed me to hit slopes before room opened up. Ease of making bfast and dinner reservations. Delicious and wide range of menu options. Location couldn’t be more convenient.

Came here for lunch and apres and it was very nice in the sun. Once the sun dropped it did get cold! Did not stay in the hotel.

Location can't be beat for skiers. The Saloon is an awesome place to hang for break between runs, a little private and still in the middle of everything. The breakfasts and dinners were all you can eat and the chef was awesome. Very relaxed and ski-centric vibe.

The lodge is fantastic. The slopes are great. The service is top notch.

Part of the charm is that it's just a touch out-of-date, which gives it a rustic vibe. The rooms are very comfortable. There are amazing views from the restaurant and lounge area.

We stayed here for a ski vacation. This place is an amazing value! It is Ski-in ski-out a couple pushes to the lift. You get breakfast buffet and four course dinner included with your stay. The place is no-frills, but clean, comfortable, and very friendly. To top it all off, we connected with the marketing director, Alex who did a guided tour of Alta, took photos of me and my son skiing. The photos are INCREDIBLE! I am so happy we have these great ski memories captured. I am so happy I chose to stay at the “GMD” and ski at Alta

A gem for making family memories. It's not fancy, but you're paying for incredible convenience, location, and plenty of food. Logistics when skiing can be tricky, but not here. Basically Ski-in/ski-out (20 steps from lift). Easy storage for gear + laundry. Some rooms updated/some not, all are very clean with updated linens. Staff is helpful and accommodating. Bfast buffet and 4-course meal for dinner. Several gathering spaces: Saloon, lobby, rec room . . . Everyone slept well after skiing hard and eating well. We're ready to make this a tradition!

The saloon always has the exact energy we need. Colby is a Ray of sunshine and the reason I continue to come back. You have an irreplaceable employee with that one.

Our stay at the Goldminer's Daughter Lodge was amazing. Cozy and comfortable with a great family friendly atmosphere. The food was great! We all loved the breakfast and dinner choices this year. Kids had a great time and we all enjoyed skiing. Special thanks to Jennifer. She and Ross have done a wonderful job at the lodge and the staff were all helpful and courteous to our needs. The Goldminer’s Daughter Lodge is a lone building nestled at the base of a mountain predicated by traditional skiing and incredible conditions. Like Alta Ski Resort, the lodge is quaint and offers accommodation enough for dedicated skiers to kill time while the mountain is closed. The food is well prepared and perfect for a weary skier, and the bar area provides a lively atmosphere to match the lodges overall feeling. While amenities such as the game room, sauna and gym are outdated and unused almost to the point of dilapidation, any skier would overlook said deviations when considering the quality of the mountain. For the convenience and homespun charm of the Goldminer’s Daughter Lodge, the price is well worth it.

Ultimate old school ski-in-ski-out experience. This is Alta. Casual family vibe. Clean comfy rooms. Plentiful tasty all-inclusive meals. Highly recommend.

Perfect location. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff takes excellent care of guests after a long day of skiing. The food is very good. Would definitely recommend.

The pizza has transformed- new dough this year. The gmd is the gmd- if you’re comfortable it’s comfortable. An all time establishment.

The perfect place to run in and warm up after the annual New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade. I love this place. A classic apres ski spot and cozy lodge to hang out, order a pizza, drink a beer and relax in between or after skiing.

Great bar upstairs. Have never stayed here but have always had a good time drinking some beers after skiing. Has a pool table and plenty of TV's to watch football after skiing

Its cool to stop at when your skiing and I really like watching television in the lodge. Its very warm opposed to outside when you are skiing. It is a good addition to the Alta ski resort and I am very satisfied with the lodge.

Just enjoying a spring hike up Collins and then snowboarding down. Love that Alta is allowing uphill travel during covid-19. Can't wait to ski Alta next season!

Goldminer's Daughter is one of a handful of historic lodges located slopeside at (the now 75 year old) Alta Ski Resort. My friend and I were staying 10 minutes away over at Snowbird, but we patronized the bar/restaurant here for some well-deserved après ski!

On the ground floor, they've got a cozy bar area and plenty of tables, with some sofas scattered around in the nooks and crannies. It was down here that we discovered "Joe's Famous Chili," a generous portion and hearty blend of everything that's good in life for around five bucks. The chili was EXCELLENT, and topped with a heap of shredded cheddar for $0.50 additional. A pitcher of Alta's locally-brewed limited edition 75th anniversary beer ($15) washed the whole thing down. On the ground floor, they also sell coffees and teas, with an assortment of candies for only $1 apiece. For a ski resort, the prices here are VERY reasonable...like drugstore/gas station reasonable, but in a much cooler setting!

After getting a gist of the ground floor bar, we decided to venture upstairs into what appeared to be another bar area. Upstairs, we found a half-vaulted room with more seating, an additional bar, and beautiful panorama views of the base area and mountain. Go up one more floor and you'll find a more formal restaurant area with complimentary cold cuts, cheeses, cookies, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea from 5-6pm. Something tells me this was probably a "hotel guests only thing" but nobody looked twice as I snagged a generous plate to split with my buddy downstairs! (shhh)

All in all, Goldminer's is a cool spot worth checking out, especially if you're skiing at Alta. This is also probably the closest semblance to "nightlife" you'll find on the mountain, so if you're looking for some reasonable (or maybe even free!) aprés ski food & drink, head on over!

Nice outdoor seating and comfortable indoor hangout. Restrooms are a bit small. Bar is hopping and has a decent Utah beer selection.

great lodge for a pop apres ski. They've got large windows so you can watch people come down the mountain. Pizza was also delicious.
