We absolutely loved working with the entire EPIC team! Their knowledge and attention to detail is unmatched. We appreciated the transparency and accuracy on the budget throughout the entire process…Kirk has that dialed in down to the penny! Pamela and Amy were so helpful and I loved having their design expertise and advice at every selection meeting. Pamela even went above and beyond the design of the home and helped me with furniture selections! From the initial meetings with Rob to our move in day, we have loved the entire experience with EPIC. They turned my hand drawn floor plan sketches and inspiration pictures into a reality! We are so impressed with the quality of our home and would build with them again in a heartbeat!

Kirk and Jeff are amazing to work with. I see so much more care into the planning and execution of the build process with this team. You are safe when you choose this builder. The home you and your family get will far exceed the investment.

This team builds a fabulous home to raise a family in .The attention to detail is unmatched. Every detail is at an ever increasing level of excellence. They think of everything from the indoor air quality to the placement of the towel bar; no detail is left to chance.

I wish that I never would have signed Epic's Personal Services Agreement (PSA), because I feel it's unfair and only really protects Epic's interests. We knew people in the process of building with Epic and so we decided to talk to Epic about building our home. We were impressed with Kirk and bought into Epic's philosophy and so we signed the PSA and paid the deposit. We felt that knowing people building with them currently reduced our risk, and the way we read the agreement if things didn't work out we paid $2 per sq ft for the plans and could go elsewhere; however, what we didn't know is the PSA was unclear and that the $2 per sq ft was in ADDITION to the deposit, and so we in effect would be required to pay $3.20 per sq ft for our plans if we left.
Epic will say that the PSA is to protect them from clients who use their work product and then go elsewhere to shop around for a better price. I'm sure that has happened, and they have probably been burned. On the flip side of that, they provide absolutely no protection to the client when Epic doesn't do what it says it will do. That's what happened to us, at times we were very pleased with their performance and other times they would promise something and wouldn't deliver. Their entire company philosophy appears to be that the homeowner is always wrong, and Epic is always right. This is reinforced in nearly every conversation, with countless stories of stupid homeowners that had unrealistic expectations and Epic was a victim of the homeowner's ignorance. This is also reflected in their 19 page Policies and Procedures (P&P) document, which summarizes ever stupid thing a customer could possibly do in the home building process. I'm sure customers (including myself) have done stupid things and had unrealistic expectations, but nowhere in that P&P document did it address what happens if Epic makes a mistake. It's like it doesn't even seem to enter their mind as a possibility that Epic could make a mistake. After seeing this pattern (the homeowner is always wrong and Epic is always right) as well as them over promising and under delivering on our project, we decided we had enough. There was no way that we were going to spend 12 months of our life expediting Epic to do what they said they would do.
Having signed the PSA we had limited options. We could walk away from the deposit and start over on the plans, or we could pay a premium price to buy the plans from Epic. We felt the agreement was incredibly unfair and not clear, and Epic even acknowledged the language could have been clearer; however, they wouldn't compromise. Instead we were lectured about intellectual property and how their work product was the finest in the industry. Reluctantly, we ended up paying $3.20 per sq ft for the plans. First we found that the building line in the plans were off by 10 ft, and so Epic had to modify the house (in an undesirable way) in order to fit on the lot. Now we have heard comments from our builder and framer that the plan details are sub-par and they have had to work through problems due to the plans. Epic said we can bring them the issues and they will fix the plans, but the new builder and subcontractors don't want to waste time doing that, they just fix this issues and move on. What is the point of fixing plans AFTER the work has already been done. Epic indicates that the $2 per sq ft was for the plans, but the deposit was to cover their time and "intellectual property"; however, they forbid us from using the estimate or anything created during that initial phase. We paid a significant deposit for something that we are forbidden to use, which is a joke because no other builder wants their "intellectual property" anyway. I regret ever signing their PSA, it put us in the hole financially from day 1 of our house build.
3/12/2021 - Epic response inaccurate. I never "demanded" refund or bad review. I gave them the chance to make the situation right, before I posted review. They declined, and I don't want others to make the same mistake I did in signing PSA.
