The Shed Cafe

One of the best chicken fried steaks we have ever had. Huge, tender, delicious gravy, rolls. The farm to table purple hulled peas we amaaaazing! We also had fried squash and collard greens. This folks is some of the best southern food we have ever had. The service was outstanding in an old school, personal way. We loved it. The shed was worth the drive to get there! Only one critique. We ordered the buttermilk/pecan pie which sounded delicious. For what ever reason the kitchen heated it in the microwave and pretty much ruined it. I think it was a one off but note to the shed, don't do that. We will being returning as soon as we can to try something else on the menu.

My wife and I have enjoyed eating at The Shed in Edom off and on for many years. We stopped by today while visiting the Art Festival today and were not disappointed. A long line to get in the door, but we’ll worth it. My wife had chicken fried steak (very good), with mashed potatoes and buttered corn (also good). I had green beans (ok) and cole slaw (very good) with fried catfish filets (the most amazing part of either meal). No green tomato relish for the catfish 😕, but it was great even with tartar sauce. My wife had wonderful fresh baked peach cobbler for dessert. Very pleased, as always. 😋

This place has it all. Great food, wonderful staff, and good prices. A bit out of the way but worth the trip. Local southern comfort food for low prices. Always friendly, a perfect Texas example of hospitality.

What an awesome place to eatfamily owned and operated down home cooking I should have stopped in there sooner I've drove by it probably ten times over the last couple years.

Great food. Portion size is very good for the money. I've always loved this place and took my husband there for his first time today and he's already ready to go back. This might just end up being a once a week thing for us. The Buttermilk pie is wonderful also.

We arrived after the lunch break, and no one was hardly there. The 3 of us ordered, the waitress was fine, the food even better! My daughter and I had chicken fried chick,and I had chicken strips. My grandson had the huge special hamburger, don't remember the exact name, but he loved it! We were so impressed by ours, we ate too much! The cake we were served was delightful, and I complement the chef!

When I tell you that I thought this place couldn't get any better...it did! The last time I was here was in 2009. My husband and I came here this past weekend (Nov. 2020). Totally different staff and totally different vibe. It has become a truly down-home experience. Conversing with the kitchen staff, wait staff, and owners like they were your cousins was like we were in grandma's kitchen cutting up and having a good time. I cannot wait to get back here and eat great food while truly enjoying myself!

We have been by this place many times, just hadn't stopped. We decided today to take a trip to Edom and eat. We were not disappointed! True home cooking! From the handmade onion rings, hand breaded fried squash, hand breaded chicken tenders and a hand pressed hamburger.. my wife and I were extremely pleased! This is a hidden gem way off of the interstate!

Chicken strips so light they melt in your mouth, and HUGE! Really folks, when I want down home, scratch cooking, with a family feel, this is the spot! Off the beaten path and worth the drive when you're looking for a relaxed, come as you are place to enjoy a meal. (2018)
July 2020 and I just had chicken pot pie as amazing as my own. The peach fried pie is made to order and worth the wait! Friendly, made me feel like family and good food. Thanks everyone!

The changes made within last 2yrs...made this A Great Place! Really enjoyed spending a Great Meal with Family Members and our Hostess was really Great. Food was so Tasty and Plentiful. Must Stop for a Great Bite or Full Meal! Atmosphere Excellent!

Friday night was all you can eat catfish. I got so much on the first plate that I couldn't do anymore. It was great. Not overly breaded. Sane goes for the fried squash I had. My wife got the chicken fried steak and it was great. We will definitely come back when we're back in East Texas.

This place is absolutely fantastic. The chicken fried steak is really big. The onion rings are home made. Went there a week ago had to leave cuz tbey said they were out of chicken and catfish. Went back last night they treated us like we owned to place. Made sure that we had anything and everything we wanted. Even gave us free desserts cuz of the troubles we had. Told them they didn't have to do that but they insisted. Told them qe would be back this coming Friday and they said that they will all be there

Very nice people! This is the first I've personally been. Some people from our church invited, and we said sure! And we were greeted with smiles, and a lot of help. The food came out hot and steamy! Overall 10/10. Thank you for an awesome experience and Merry Christmas!

Stopped by this morning to try a cafe type place we havent been to before. It did not disappoint!!!
Food was awesome. Plates were good size. Perfect small town cafe atmosphere. Best thing is we got there before dinner started but since they were out of pancakes they was more than happy to put me on a hamburger steak complete with dinner time sides. They didnt have to do that but they are very friendly bunch. Left very full of good small town cafe cooking.

The new owners are fabulous and talk about good, really really good home southern cooking!!! Try this place, it's Texas at its best. We quit going for a long time with the old owners but so so glad we went back, and we will go again.

The absolute best food I've had in years. We are going to make it a once a week place to eat because we all 3 enjoyed our meal and I really like the atmosphere. It's country and you can't beat that!!!
