West Sound Cafe

Kitchen was short-staffed tonight, but that only meant the food took a little longer to get to us. It didn't affect the meal. We are not complaining because every bite was absolutely worth the wait! Take your time, slow down, enjoy the scenery, and wait for the food because every one of our four meals were absolutely fantastic! Even my kids who typically opt for burgers and fries chose adventurously and they could not say enough about their food. AMAZING! Way to go, Chefs! Thank you for a great family night out!

If I could rate higher I would. Great cider, prompt & attentive service, and best food I've eaten all week. My husband and I shared the pork small plate, the seashells & shrimp small plate, the cauliflower veggies and the corn veggies. Every bite only got better. Amazing mixture of sweet, spicy, salty and mild. Stuffed as we were, we ordered (and finished) desert. Affordable prices, eclectic menu. Must eat here again.

I was skeptical if the wait for seating would be worth it--it most certainly was! And they actually seated us quickly despite the busy night. Loved trying new-to-us foods (octopus) as well as classics (shrimp and grits). Everything was delicious.

Great Atmosphere and even BETTER food! Loved the laid back atmosphere and the beer/food was fantastic... best food we had on any of the san juans. No matter where you sit you get an excellent view. I had the fish tacos, my wife had the cheese burger... both exellent!

Great food, eclectic menu that can be just plain simple (a great burger) or really fancy. Make sure you check the opening hours - the cafe adjusts them frequently.

Amazing fish and chips. I loved the homemade breading and freshness of the fish.

New season, new chef, many new menu items--wonderful!! Always loved West Sound Cafe, but this is a step above.

Was looking forward to a great dining experience, but instead it was just ok. One of the cooks came out to greet a people he knew and made a point to ask us if we were from the island, knowing we were tourist. Making a point to belittle those eating at his establishment that weren't local. It was uncomfortable and overall awkward. We ordered dessert and it came out uncooked and just awful. Overall the experience can be described as disappointing.

Great water/mountain views do not compensate for indifferent-bordering-on-unfriendly service and questionable products (e.g., local wines that are clearly not ready for prime-time). There are plenty of better choices for dining & drinks on Orcas Island--tourists would do well to move on and explore those.
