You can smell the fresh curry and spices from down the street. Great place with lots of good stuff to buy in the store and food was awesome. Definitely recommend the samosas!

We love this place for Indian takeout! Food is always great and consistent with a variety of options. Staff are super friendly and will let you try their dishes if you're unsure what to order. Since finding this new local gem we've already been back several times!

Wanted to pick up some kasoori methi (dried fenugreek leaves) for a recipe, which brought me in. Staff is friendly and helpful. I bought a couple (mix veg) Samosa on a whim for a snack when I got home and these are the BEST samosa I’ve ever eaten in my life. I really want to come back for lunch/dinner at some point, absolutely delicious food.

Very good Indian take out counter. Lovely selection of Indian foods. The owner and their family is delightful. Recommend taking a few samosas to go and stopping by the bar next door. Great set up!

We were at Lemon Drop for drinks and I wasn’t even hungry but the smell was too alluring so we decided to take it to go after we left. We ordered the combo which comes with a meat, veggie, rice, plain naan, mango lassi (best one I had). We chose goat for our meat. We also ordered 2 lamb samosa for $9.99 which was prepared fresh. Everything else was ready to be served. It all came out to be about $38 and it was more than enough for 1.5 meals for 2 people. Great value and service. All the flavors were on point and we loved everything we ordered. We’ll def be back for more!

Found this gem of a place in Alameda/Oakland area. It is a must try food! We ordered catering from Shanvi Kitchen for our 35ppl party. All the food was amazing and everything was freshly made. All of the guests at our party were super happy with the taste, spice levels, and the quantity of the food. We had lots of leftovers that guest were happy to take home and eat again The owner and his wife are super friendly and helpful. They even helped making suggestions for what would be the best dishes to go with certain items. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for daily meals or catering for big parties. 10/10

Hidden gem for local indian foods. The steamer counter is so tasty! Get their chai it's wonderful especially on a rainy day.

So flavorful! Everything I got was good ! Single dish - Naan with okra.
Combo - rice and naan with Chana masala and dal.

They have a hotbar, serving traditional Indian dishes inside the store. I've been here a couple of times; atmosphere is clean, food is delicious! You get it to go or eat outside on table. My favorite is the saag paneer with garlic naan bread.

Tasty food and reasonable prices. Staff very friendly and accommodating. As an ethnic Indian I can say this was authentic food and great taste. Very convenient having Indian groceries to take home afterwards

I discovered this place while biking to work one day, and needed lunch. The food is good, Sonja is a great cook and you can eat out front at picnic tables, a plus. It's also convenient to have a local Indian market on the Island of Alameda, Shanvi carries so many things. Viku and Sonja, the owners, are generous and great to work with, they stepped up to be a food sponsor at our Rhythmix Cultural Works annual youth arts fundraiser. The Chana Masala and rice they donated to our event went fast, I barely got to try it! Highly recommended.

I came to visit Alameda for few days and I found this lovely hot food place. Their food was freshly made, food was so delicious. I think they had some kind of magic masala/spices that made my taste buds explode.I have never tasted such exquisite food before and I highly recommend this place to everyone. They have very good hygiene. The workers are extremely friendly and helpful. They all working very hard to make us happy.I definitely will be coming back for more food on my next trip to Alameda.

We catered a party for 25 people and they gave us food to feed way more than 25. We received tons of compliments on the food. The Samosa's were all snatched up very quickly (no surprise) and all the guests went for seconds and thirds. Working with Vik to figure out the order was easy. Great family-owned restaurant. The price was very reasonable as well.

My wife and I have gotten take out from here a couple times as well and really enjoy it.

Finally, a place to get great Indian staples in Alameda! They have all the South Asian groceries I need, are constantly adding new items, and open to suggestions. The hot food is also delicious, portions are big. The couple that owns Shanvi are really kind, hardworking, and eager to help.

Best samosas in Alameda+Oakland. Paneer Tikka Masala had a rich and creamy gravy with good amount of soft paneer. Nice to see some good Indian food on the island. Looking forward to trying more next time.

Something suspicious is going on with these reviews. Their food does not deserve these low ratings. Someone has an agenda. I would recommend trying these guys.

Best Indian store out here. They have loads of amazing offers and the store owner Biku is super friendly and he was of great help.
Definitely a must visit.
