This campground has a beautiful setting, especially down near the water. What made this place special for us was Darryl. He was so accommodating so friendly and was able to get us fresh lobster at a great price and all the things we needed to have an outside lobster fest. He was a wealth of information And just a really nice guy to hang with.
I would come back here anytime for the view the ambience and of course Darryl. Darryl made sure the place was clean well-maintained and a honey wagon made available whenever we needed it.

Absolutely LOVED it here! The cabin was very clean and gave you the camping experience without having to pitch a tent ◡̈ A great distance from all the Acadia attractions, along with great water views from the sight as well. We will definitely be coming back for our next stay.

My boyfriend and I just took a trip here for the weekend to go to Acadia. HTR Acadia is perfectly located near the park (about a 15 min drive, but very scenic and beautiful on the way) and the campsites are very affordable for a weekend (roughly $240.00 for three nights). The campsite is very quiet and peaceful with beautiful tree cover throughout. The staff are very friendly and helpful as well especially if you have questions about the area and fun things to do. The wifi works great and the bathroom/shower facilities were very clean, well kept with a descent amount of hot water. The check in and check out process were easy as well. The only thing that we didn't like was after 5pm when the office closes, the ice cooler outside was locked for the rest of the night, so make sure to stock up during the day. Other than that, I highly recommend staying at this campsite if you are looking to explore Acadia. Would definitely stay here again!

Very pleasantly surprised how nice and put together everything is. There are camp sites and rustic cabins. We went with a cabin and were situated in a nice spot. The staff is really friendly and helpful. We ended up being able to go on more excursions thanks to the advice we received from a couple different staff members. We used their on site kayak rental to view Somes Sound. The Wi-Fi works pretty good. There’s plumbing (communal shower/restroom), which is cleaned daily. And the location of the property is good because it’s somewhat out of the hustle and bustle of the Bar Harbor area but still with relatively easy access to many great hikes, attractions, etc. Thank you

We had a great time at this campground! It had a very easy check in and check out process. The bathrooms were incredibly clean! In addition to the bathrooms, there was a heated pool, kayaks, paddle boat, water frontage, query, and ice and wood for purchase. We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days in a tent on the sunrise camp site. Sunrise was one of the water front properties and was so beautiful! Just be cautious that the sunrise site is a more windy site being on the water, we did have to put extra ties down, but once we did it was fine. We did experience quite a storm one night and the tide came up to our tent during an hour at high tide. Other than that we had a great time and I recommend staying here!

For Acadia in general, I would recommend trying to go when the weather is nice. We went in late June. We experienced 2 sunny days and 3 rainy days. The sunny days were amazing and we got to see great views. When it was rainy, Acadia was all fog and we couldn’t see anything.

This campground is breathtaking! The waterfront views are gorgeous!
The sites are meticulous, level, and all unique. It has a primitive feel while providing ammenities like water and electric. No sewer, but they do offer a pump out service for a fee. Wood and Ice are available to purchase. Pedal boats, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards are available to rent.

Really enjoyed my experience there !
The quarry was lovely and it is really cool to have access to the ocean ! The bathrooms are clean and everyone is very nice.
My only comment would be to maybe not put small RVs next to the tents, on one of the night a RV was making some mechanical noises and it was a bit annoying, but it didn't last long.

Totally recommended !

Just went with my wife, awesome campground !!! Super friendly and helpful staff, clean sites with drinkable water spouts to fill your bottles at each campsite, and an excellent swimming spot too, although the water is quite cold! There is also a pool for those who prefer! Very clean and fun. Close to bar harbor and super close to nearby hiking trails ! Recommended 10/10

Each site has its own unique attributes - we at first thought ours was terrible. Right on the road and far away from the ocean. What it had was a distant ocean view and (since far away from other campers) a lot of solitude. The pool was clean and situated in a nice grass field.

Talk with the owners about exactly what you are looking for and I suspect that they will be able to deliver - from ocean front to rustic cabins to "glamping tents". Recommended.

Very quaint, rustic. The staff work very hard on keeping this place clean. It has a pool it's very nice. You can't beat the location of this campground. Excellent views close proximity to several Acadia Park entrances and very close to Bar Harbor! Bathhouse is cleaned daily, they have Wi-Fi. I TOTALLY RECOMMEND HERE if you want to be close to nature and other amenities offered at Mt. Dessert island!

This was my first time ever camping at a "private" campground, so I was a bit skeptical especially driving all the from Wisconsin. This place is great. We stayed on site 47. Self serv firewood 24 hours, on site pool (which seemed to be locked a lot though), spaced out sites, W+E on each site, clean bathhouse, and ocean (sound) frontage. Also a quarry with paddle boat! We loved our stay and hope to return at some point!

This campground perfectly suited our needs. The check-in was easy with friendly staff. The amenities were clean (the shower got a bit cold, but I was just glad to have a clean shower!). The sites are compact but wooded enough to give privacy—and pretty! The location was convenient for exploring Acadia and visiting Bar Harbor. Would definitely come back!

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience based on the mixed reviews I read before my trip. Very well maintained facility. Restrooms and showers were very clean. Campsites were well spaced not too crowded. You can buy ice and firewood on site for a reasonable price. Overall a great experience definitely recommend for family and non family trips.

Stayed at HTR Acadia Campground (Somes Sound View Campground) over the holiday weekend. Booked our stay last minute so did not have any choice in selecting campsite. Stayed at the “SPRUCE”, which was a spacious site on the side of the road (not accessed from inside the campground) overlooking the quarry lake. At first, we were worried that staying right on the side of the road will be dangerous (with little kids), but the road is not very busy. You will only have cars pass by every now and then. Of course, you always have to keep an eye on your kids as you know them best, but I didn’t feel super stressed over the road situation with mine. If privacy is important, you have tree separation from your left hand side neighbor. There is an opening on the right hand side to a permanent “glamping tent” site, but you can easily use your tent as a privacy screen. The SPRUCE has a picnic table and a fire pit with cooking grate. Picnic table seat is rotting so it probably should get fixed or replaced by management soon. There is water and electric as well as WiFi. You can purchase fire wood and ice near the campground office. The campground does have a pool and a lake with paddle boat (no swimming allowed). There are also showers and toilets, which are cleaned daily. The shower room floors were dirty from mud so come prepared with flip flops or slip-ons. The showers are free and there is running warm water. Overall, it was a nice stay at the HTR Acadia. If you’re looking for a simple, no fuss stay, but aren’t looking for additional campground activities, then it’s a good campground to stay at near Acadia National Park.

Awesome campground!! Stayed at site 46 for a week and it was perfect for us - 2 vehicles and one large tent. Plenty of room, good combo of shade and sun. Quiet campground with good spacing between camps, love how the left all the trees and tucked the campsites in to the woods. Clean and hot showers. Firewood for sale at front desk. Good sized fire pits. Friendly staff. Definitely would

Stayed in Bella and it exceed our expectations! The view from the site was lovely and quiet. Clean sheets and a pillow for the bed were provided. Tons of deer and wildlife. Bathrooms have 3 shower and 3 toilets which was always enough. I never had to wait. They were always clean.

Only two things worth noting. 1) It’s pretty steep terrain. Each site has been leveled, but trips to the bathhouse are multiple flights of stairs. There is space to drive up and park if you need to however. 2) Our tent had some mildew in it. It seemed to be cleaned and no longer growing, but if you have allergies, maybe consider bringing your own tent and not renting a lotus tent.

We would certainly stay here again!

Stayed here for two nights and would have stayed longer if they weren’t fully booked.
Everything seemed very clean and check in and check out were absolutely painless. Great views, good amenities, and lots of activities within the campground alone.

We’ve been here three times previously and have always had a wonderful experience. We love the location, quiet, not too crowded sites, and the staff. Darryl and the store staff were friendly and helpful. We’ll be back for sure.

Great campground for those looking to experience Acadia! The facilities are nice, we’ll taken care of. There is a quarry, pool and ocean view sites. Electric, water and wifi was helpful when we didn’t have service. It’s about a 20 minute drive to most Acadia attractions but it was nice to be out of the hustle and bustle of the more touristy places.

Stayed a week in campsite 1. They assign spots but very flexible. Dry wood available. Pool is heated and I took a swim. Walked down to the sound for fabulous views everyday. Bathrooms warm and CLEAN. Dog loved it
