Cute, not so little, store that sells a variety of gift items lots of cute towels, stuffed animals (very lifelike) and other gifts.
Oh. And they make and sell lots and lots of different soaps. Most anything that you can think of. Go in the back and you can see it all.

Suds and Kindness

As my birthday year of travel to celebrate the big one is coming to an end, I’ve pushed myself to find the unique, fun and educational places in America. My life became better when I stepped into sammysoap.
Through the suggestion of another local shop owner, I found myself stepping through the door of a sudsy adventure. Of course, there’s soap here but not just any soap but natural, made by hand with real ingredients soap. Throughout the store a wonderful scent tickles the senses as so many things are present that serve any and every need. Besides soap, there are dishes, toys, ornaments and little trinkets that make a person say, “Oh, I like that.”
This wonderful space was once the Kirkwood Firehouse No. 1 with some of the original features still in place, including the tallest bathroom in St. Louis. The best part of sammysoap is what takes place in the back of the store. You can tour and learn how to make all-natural soap while learning about the importance of vitamins, minerals and amino acids used in essential oils. Chris, the soap maker, demonstrated for example, how oils like wintergreen (really birch) combined with sassafras gives a root beer scent. Since it was the middle of the week and slow, I was the only guest and loved it. I was able to ask questions and learn so much about the making and curing process of ‘loafs’ of soap and cutting those into bars. I even designed my own bar of soap.
The beauty and essence of sammysoap is the story behind the for-profit business. Her son Sammy, diagnosed with an intellectual disability at six months, changed Karen Copeland, the owner, giving her a new vision for her life. In fact, the shop was the catalyst for both she and her son to find meaning, thrive and grow. Other people like Sammy also help in the shop providing them with a drive to make their way in this world with dignity while earning a wage.
I can testify to this wonderful soap having tried the orange patchouli which filled the shower with the most delightful scent without drying out my skin.
Overall: Celebrating their 4th year in business, this gem is the best place for children or anyone young at heart to hang out for an hour to learn about soap making while having fun at the same time.

The shop was clean and people were very kind and I loved the soap. The store was a bit overwhelming smell wise but that's to be expected in a soap shop. The tour also provided a wonderful lesson and was very informative. I will be getting my soap from here now.

Very impressed! Randomly stopped in this shop on a friend's suggestion. Was looking for a bar soap I could use to do dishes with - something that doesn't require plastic! The lady at the shop recommended a bar she uses personally as well as several others. Upon further questioning, I also found that the soap is made in-store by mentally handicapped adults and the store ensures they are paid a competitive wage. Also, I LOVE the soap she suggested to me. Definitely will be shopping here henceforth!

I stopped in today for a few last minute Mother's Day gifts. This store was too cute!! Their selection was very nice and high quality. Their soaps smelled amazing and are at a great price as well - I look forward to coming back again and again for these! I believe it was the store owner working when I came in today, but I'm not 100% sure, regardless she was very friendly and kind. Overall, such a great local business!

I was gifted the dog lover soap set at Christmas and I love it. I use it on my 2 dachshunds and they smell so good. The soap lathers nicely and my dogs smell great long after the bath.

Wonderful experience all around! Took my daughter in on her birthday. She loved the factory tour and the soap craft.
We bought bars of dog shampoo soap and it's amazing! I usually have to shampoo my dog twice, but the soap fully lathered in the first round, smelled great, and left my dog's coat soft and shiney.
Will be back soon!

Such a variety of items. Local artist jewelry, pottery, and more. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable about their products. Was able to find soap to help with my dry skin. Being a crafter myself, I felt the prices were reasonable. In fact most items of similar make such us their tea towels are lower than other places i have shopped. Definitely recommend sammysoap.

My mom and went in here get some information about face soap. The kind worker was very informative and gave us a little lesson about soap! It was awesome. We ended up purchasing two different soap bars. The Vanilla Almond Oat and I don’t remember the other sent. I have used it twice my skin has felt so good and smells very clean! Will be coming back for more!

I LOVE SAMMYSOAP!! I don’t even know where to start with this review because this is such an amazing company. First of all, their mission is kickass and so important. They hire adults with intellectual disabilities and then pay them a fair and competitive wage. Awesome awesome awesome. They create amazing all natural soaps with minimal packaging so you aren’t creating waste by using their products. And let me tell you, their products are phenomenal. So far, I’ve used their shampoo bar, mosquito soap, and acne face soap. All of their soaps are absolutely luxurious and work amazingly. Lastly, every time I’ve gone in every single employee has talked to me like a good friend. They’re really good people selling a really good product. A+, 10 out of 10, 5 stars, would recommend!!

This is a wonderful store that has much more than soap! Wonderful gift items for babies, men and women. I bought two great little oil paintings, an adorable metal pigeon, a great looking ceramic soap dish and a bar of their wonderful soap. Definitely worth a stop!

This soap is wonderful! I have sensitive skin and this is the best soap I've found. How incredible that they're committed to paying fair wages to their employees and still using the best ingredients possible. Normally us folks with sensitive skin get the short end of the stick, not with SammySoap! Thanks for all the great work!

We took our homeschool group for a tour, given by Chris. Wow! This guy is great. He's funny, super smart and absolutely engaging. The kids learned so much more than just about soap. So very impressed. The soaps are made with beneficial ingredients and scented with essential oils. The store is located in a trendy part of Kirkwood with lots of restaurants and shops nearby to round out any field trip.

I love their soap. I used to have to lotion in the morning and before bed. I lotion much less after switching from typical bar soap to their soap. I particularly like the mint kinds.

Using handmade soaps is an affordable luxury that's great for your skin. We love Sammi Soaps for the great formulations and also because they offer such a wide variety of scents, many of which are traditionally "masculine" and so work for all family members. Made in Kirkwood too!

I love the mosquito repelling soap and spray! It smells wonderful and really works! They have a wonderful gift store that sells a lot more than their fabulous soap!
