The food here was fantastic 😋 and so was our service. Thank you Starr. We tried the portobello mushroom sandwich and country fried steak (daily special). Then finished up with the levee caramel pecan apple pie. 😋 So sorry I didn't get more pics.

Parking was a little crazy on a Saturday but we were able to find a spot in the nice large lot across the street.
It was a warmer day but we sat outside. They have a great deck/patio with fans.
The menu had plenty of great options but wanted to save room for dessert so went with the egg salad sandwich. It was tasty!
It was served with a side of chips and they easily swapped soup for cottage cheese.
The dessert menu was equally hard to choose from with so many tasty options. I went with the apple crumb pie. It came out warmed slightly which was perfect. Only regret- not getting a scoop of ice cream.
The carrot cake was great too.
Would definitely return! Glad we finally went for a drive to give it a try. You should too!

This is a excellent stop when in the area. The food was awesome. Service was relatively quick. Indoor and outdoor dining. A touristy area in a small historic river town. There are lots of shops nearby to pickup memories. Old time look and feel.

Update November 2023:
Took little brother to Kimmswick for lunch and Christmas shopping. It was a gorgeous day, and as always, the food was delicious to boot. Bought some baked goodies, too, after breakfast to take home.
Never have been able to buy one of the mile high apple pies, but today they had miniature Carmel Pecan apple pies. Gotta see the pictures. Little brother likes their homemade turtlesthat come in dark or milk chocolate, soon course2 for him one for me. Then, I noticed they had a few fried pies, so yes, I bought 2 of them. Overall a great breakfast as we always get the country fried steak, with eggs, fried potatoes, and their homemade biscuits with apple butter or strawberry jam.
Nice to get away from the city along with going shopping for Christmas presents.

Shout out to Starr, our waitress, on great service.
If you want pies, this is the place & not very expensive for homemade pies vs. store bought.
Support your local business owned by women.
Very friendly staff and nice to all customers along with interacting with more personal service than normal chain restaurants.
Breakfast was really scumptous as we had the steak & eggs along with half order sausage gravy & biscuit, fried potatoes like I made at home were a surprise. Then, the pancake was crunchy on the outside and soft, along with thick made for a yummy craving satisfied.
Definitely need to go back, most expensive breakfast for us.
Let me explain there were Cherry hand pies, homemade turtle candy, dark & milk chocolate, German chocolate pies, slice of turtle cake, and last slice Gooey Butter Pie.
Went for breakfast today, and it was so delicious and I ate everything, but my biscuit.
The Steak and Eggs so was great from the tender delicious steak, the home fried potatoes, and two eggs over easy.
Now desserts this time was a little less desirable, sorry.
Raspberry turnovers were small, but that was okay. I wanted to try them. While the pastry was flaky, the disappointment was no Raspberry filling at all just a dab.
Next, I thought I would try the Butterscotch Pecan Pie sounded good, again disappointed. There were lots of pecans on top, but the filling I thought would be soft it was hard as a rock.

The Blue Owl has been a part of Kimmswick as long as I can remember. The atmosphere is one that brings back so many memories. I have never had a bad experience at the Blue Owl. Try a slice of pie! While you are in Kimmswick, check out some of the shops. Great way to spend an afternoon.

The lemon cream cake is delicious. Definitely worth the price. It was very moist and not too sweet. The lemon flavor was just enough without being too overpowering. Can’t wait to get another cake!

First time visit. 4 of us ordered breakfast and it was divine. They no longer serve alcohol on the menu, which is not posted on their menu because I was told 4 of their servers are in recovery. Little disappointed there were no Mimosas. Excellent fruit salad. 4 of us ate for $55, but with just water.

Stopped by this restaurant for breakfast while visiting from Florida. There aren’t many restaurants in this area and I was a bit hesitant to try this one. We pulled into the parking lot with a line of almost 20 people waiting for the restaurant to open. The staff was very inviting and our family of 6 was seated immediately. We placed breakfast order of pancakes, biscuits and gravy, French toast, country fried steak and eggs and bacon. Freshly baked cinnamon rolls with caramel pecan topping was brought to our table giving us a chance to sample the delicious confection. I am so glad I made the decision to patron this place. If you get a chance to visit Kimmswick, Missouri or the surrounding area, do yourself a favor and go have breakfast at the Blue Owl. You will not be disappointed!

They also serve lunch, dinner, and have a bakery.

Try the Trio for $18! I had the chicken salad croissant, Cobb side salad, & levee high apple pie! And I don’t feel guilty because the pie wasn’t too sweet & had layers of apples! Hubby had the Turkey club sandwich with curly fries. (See pics) Also, our waitress Mallory, was great!

This restaurant is a local icon. Located in a quaint old river town on the Mississippi, you can't beat the traditional atmosphere, especially if you can sit on the porch. Food is hearty and delicious. Their 'pick three' is a great value and allows you to sample a bit of everything. You must save room for pie!

The Blue Owl made and delivered cakes for our wedding. We had an amazing experience with them. The tasting box was so fun, as we tasted each and every type of cake, frosting, and dessert that we wished to try.

Laura Costello was amazing to communicate with. She was timely and informative, and she really helped us determine how much we needed for our guest count. Because the flavors were SO good, we went with several littler cakes and then a small tier cake. The guests LOVED the cake. The carrot and almond cake was particularly a huge hit! We did donut holes for guests to grab, and 200 of them were gone in the blink of an eye.

Delivery and set up were seamless. The Blue Owl sent someone to deliver and set the cakes up about mid afternoon before our ceremony.

We could not say enough good things about the service and delicious goods that they provided!

GREAT patio! They are known for pie but everything was good. A nice country classic bite along the river and walkable to cute shops in Kimmswick. Fun for kids too.

Love love loved this place! We will definitely be going back. Mary was a delight, and so were the rest of her employees! They have a gluten free menu and were sure to double check everything I ordered. I had the Lunch Trio and was able to substitute the croissant with gluten free bread. I also had the strawberry salad which is now my absolute favorite salad. I don't usually prefer a lot of dressing on my salad but the poppy seed dressing was so good that I wanted more! And of course, don't forget the dessert!

We had already eaten lunch but we were told to stop at the Blue Owl for dessert, but not just any dessert. We needed to have one of their pies.

We had a slice of their apple pie. MAGNIFICENT. The pie slice is about 10 in. high. They stuff the pie with 18 apples.

If you like desert, you must put The Blue Owl on your bucket list.

P.S. I am not a dessert person but this could change me.

Great country style dining. The wait staff is always incredibly friendly. They serve breakfast from 10-11:30am, but you can also order lunch at any time. They offer you sticky buns with caramel and some type of crushed but that was the size of my face for $4.95. They also offer shipping to certain places in the US: see photos for $10 off your first order code!

Terrific place, well worth the wait! My aunt lives close and is a regular. This trip down she took me, and now I know why it's her favorite! And it's not just the food that's great, it's the staff too! You just don't find gems like this everywhere!

I placed an order for some friends that live in Alaska. Two of the Gooey Butter cakes, the best in the nation!! I cannot wait until they receive them and spread the word about Blue Owl Bakery up north, the baked goods are amazing!!

This was our first visit and it was great! I got the "trio" which included a smoked turkey crossiant, white chicken chili, and dessert. Everything was very tasty. You definitely have to get a dessert if you are here; they all look amazing! The restaurant has a cute old fashioned vibe. We'll be back for sure.

A group of my family and friends meet here once a year around the holidays for Christmas shopping. We eat here every year and it is always amazing. Service is friendly, atmosphere is comfortable, menu is varied and food is so comfort flavorful. You also have to have a dessert here - at least get it to go if you're too full after the meal! We will continue to come back yearly!
