Definitely one of the best and most affordable grocery stores in the area. Great selection of frozen foods and Asian/Caribbean spices and products. My go to for meat - freshest meat and they’ll prepare it exactly as you want it. Staff is extremely friendly and treats you like family. Five stars!

A-1 Groceries and Halal Meat has a lot to offer. Walking into the store they had soothing background desi music playing. The place looked clean, orderly and stocked with Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi and Middle Eastern spices and ingredients. There have a fresh vegetables section, Bread /roti corner, variety of cheese, paratha, frozen fish and so much more. They accept cash/credit/debit cards.

Friendly staff are always willing to give suggestions and help find what we're looking for. The place is clean and organized. It's my go to place for ingredients for Indian dishes.

Wonderful people and they have everything I'm looking for, from food to pots and pans. ☺

A1 is attached to the Taj Tandoor restaurant. I believe it is run by the same family, which would make a lot of sense as they already import Indian ingredients for the restaurant.

They stock all kinds of speciality Indian ingredients. Ponni rice, paneer, curry leaves, snacks and ready to eat products like Parle G, hide and seek, Maggi, Ching's, Haldirams, MTR, coconut flakes, mint, coriander, naan, chappatis.

On Saturdays, they cut fresh halal meat. If you go by midday, I hear, they have the freshest cuts. The (younger?) son is usually at the counter serving customers. He's very helpful and suggests great substitutions when you can't find the exact ingredient you need. They also carry onions, tomatoes, chilies, garlic, ginger and a few other seasonal veg from India.

They're a great neighborhood alternative to the big supermarkets. You'd be getting your hands on a ingredients that you won't find at a regular grocery store and supporting a small business. Win-win :)
