Velvet Monkey Tea

This place has the most amazing selection of teas. It's a great place to meet up with friends, or just for a quiet spot to be by yourself.

Great shop in historic and touristic McMinnville, with huge selection of loose leaf teas, as well as other items. There is a seating area with soft lighting, the warmth of wood chairs, a sofa, plus a chess board and a puzzle. The store floor is well organized and well stocked with a wide variety of loose leaf teas, and other paraphernalia such as tea kettles, tea cups, and brewing tools. They also have a display shelf with A BUNCH of truffles. They do offer boba tea for immediate consumption. I don’t want to comment on that, however, because I don’t consider myself a connoisseur. I mean, I’ve had my share of boba tea in a fair amount of different flavors, but I don’t know all there is to know about it. First off, this place offers popping pearls, which I never heard of before; it’s some kind of gelatinous sphere like a large fish egg, but clear and filled with juice. Next, they don’t have much by way of flavored teas, but instead used black tea and added flavored syrup. Lastly, they don’t use real milk but instead used rice milk. They are working toward offering boba pearls and sounds like it will soon be available. I’ll prolly go back for loose leaf teas, but their boba game is kinda, as the kids say, mid.

Absolutely fantastical. It is always a treat when I get to come here. They have a vast amount of teas and beautiful little chocolates. I love to spend time here to just draw or read because the atmosphere is so calming. The staff are incredibly welcoming as well. A visit here always makes my day ❤ I highly HIGHLY recommend chocolate chai and coconut cream, but really all the teas are quite nice.

Loving my new Tealyra tea pot! It works on my gas stove, brews tea most excellently, washes up easily and it's so much prettier than my old one! Right now it's holding the last of a batch of Huckleberry Black tea. Thank you, Velvet Monkey for the a wonderful Valentine's Day gift from my sweetie!

Absolutely love this store! They have the most adorable tea pots and the assortment of teas is perfect. There’s always something I “need” in here and the people working here are very friendly. My go to place for tea needs!!

The best place to get highest quality tea. They have a wide selection of green/black/herbal teas and I even found Ayurveda teas. If you have a friend or family member that's into teas, there's a selection of teapots and cups available, from cute and whimsical to pro-tea drinker. The staff is fabulous, they take their time with each customer.

What a wonderful tea shop! Richard and Serengeti who own Velvet Monkey do a great job of stocking, organizing and suggesting teas to drink or bring home. They have an amazing selection of teaware, tea pots, and tea accessories. The atmosphere is very Zen and relaxing. Definitely get the chocolate truffles, they are to die for!

So cute, classic tea shop. Love the location as it’s underground. Lots of selection and the staff is very knowledgeable about what their selling. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

I’m not a tea guy but after coming to the Velvet Monkey, I may become one. Great atmosphere, excellent tea varieties all over the wall to choose from, and incredible customer service. The owners are wonderful people. I left with several large bags of tea.

I really hope they stay open. The staff are the nicest people and I hope they're doing well. Great loose-leaf tea and fresh-made tea options. Cool teapots and accessories. Great chocolates and baklava. I recommend their lavender lemonade too, if you're not in the mood for tea.

I have become enamored with this charming tea room. My journey into my new found love of tea started with a delicious Dark Chocolate Peppermint tea. I was instantly smitten. I have since branched out to a number of teas, my home often taking on the subtle hint of the latest blend.
I would be remiss if I did not also talk about the amazing owners, Serengeti and Richard, and their charming assistant Sierra. They are all knowledgeable and kind. I am always greeted with such warmth as they will often talk with me about all of the teas as I work my way through the lot. I have laughed with them and learned from them. They have all together created a welcoming environment, to sit in a beautiful place and discover a new passion. Thank you to Serengeti, Richard, and Sierra for introducing me to this wonderful new world❤

This is an amazing store, with amazing tea. You get a good bang-for-your buck, and its locally owned and operated. There are also good organic options, and the workers are masters in their crafts. There is by far not enough business in this shop, so I urge you to stop by and pick up some tea or boba.

Cozy little spot with amazing tea!! I found out about them because the hotel i was staying at had the tea in their rooms. Cheshire is my new favorite herbal tea and I had to drop by the shop to pick some up to take home with me! I will be back for more and maybe to try their other blends.

Lovely Tea, Chocolate, and Gift Shop. Prices are very reasonable. Presentation is calming and non cluttered.

Cozy atmosphere, and quite the selection of teas!! The iced tea I ordered was delicious, perfect for a hot day. Great service and I'm looking forward to trying all of the teas. It's going to take me awhile but it'll be well worth it!

What a wonderful gem of a spot. The tea is incredible, and it is a lovely spot where I could hang out, work on projects or do the puzzle on the table.

As a college student, this is one of my favorite places to relax and grab some tea and a bite of chocolate. The feel of the place makes the tea better -- which sounds funny in and of itself but I assure you, it's a nice calm place. The fact that the establishment is underground adds to the allure. The owner is kind and and courteous. Tends to be calm, regardless of the amount of people in the room.

Fresh teas, artistic tea pots, chocolates that are delicious and so much more.
The decor is nouveau, the lighting is perfect and the team are awesome. A great place to meet, the entry is downstairs, I didn't see any wheelchair accessible entrance.
Parking lot just off of main St. in downtown is at no cost. The gentleman who weighed out my teas was very informative, it was incredibly clean, restrooms found upstairs.
I like being able to get a small amount of new tea until I find I like it. An ounce of tea is plenty, several teas were competitively priced, many less than what I pay at a local organic co-op.
I will return every time I'm in Mcminnville.

This place is awesome. It's a cozy shop with plenty of lounging space and some excellent teas. The owner was extremely nice too and will give good recommendations.
I've been to quite a few tea shops and this was definitely a favorite! There's a nice restaurant just upstairs from the shop too.
