Moonshiners Cave Trail

Love this unique place. You can feel it's history. Unfortunately it has been vandalized. Too bad they weren't good artists at the least.. The horrible graffiti takes so much away from this magical place. It is still worth the short hike ! A cave shelter hidden under a waterfall is just as cool as it sounds. When you park don't take the trail in front of the parking area. If you are facing the woods walk to your right and you will find the correct designated trail marked with a flag.

Trail and trailheads are not marked, so not many people visit this hidden gem. Take the trail entrance located south of the parking spots. If you take the trailhead that is obvious AT the parking spaces, you will likely wander around for an hour or so and not find the Moonshiners Cave.
You will hike downhill most of the way to the cave. Take a left at the fork in the trail. Continue but stay to the right of the creek. There is an overlook area where you can probably camp. Keep heading down to get to the cave (cavern) entrance. Well worth the short hike to see the moonshine remains and waterfall.

Five stars bc it's totally worth it to find this little piece of history! The trail is not marked and it's not real clear where you're meant to start. Definitely recommend using all trails if you end up on the wrong trail or lost, made it super easy for us to find in the end, the actual trail in is very easy to follow once you've found it, if you start from the parking lot, walk down the road a little bit and it's the cleanest looking path. Still loads of fun, and a great experience

Super fun and short trail. Just make sure you follow Alltrails and it’ll take you right to it. I loved that not a lot of people know about so it’s not over-trafficked.

Best one I seen in years, medium hike down to it but really worth seeing. If you go please don’t disturb the area!

Its a beautiful place ive went since i was little i remember the couch that was made from rock and the door being in tact and the plate of the time it was found still hanging on the side now its horrible but still a great place to go

This trail head location IS CORRECT! This is the path to take to find the cave. Do NOT take the trail from the parking lot! You must walk back up the road about 100' to the actual Trailhead.

This was a quick moderately easy hike to a hidden gem!

Though to find, thank you to all reviewers that passed along helpful info. Really cool hike and an awesome cave. Jumped a big deal up by the power line on the way back.

Very cool! Trail is a little hard to follow in late summer when the stream is dry, if you go too far, there's a sign ahead that's marked private.

Amazing! Please stay on well established trails and hang right at the trail forks.
The other options lead to private land.

Fantastic hike with friends. Definitely hiking shoes and I highly recommend a walking stick for the rocky terrain.

Pretty easy hike, kid friendly, uphill hike back out.
