Wasn't sure what to think as the restaurant we were headed towards was no longer in business and the Brown Mug was close to our car. We peeked in the window and knew we had to eat here. It was largely Navajo employees and patrons so the Fry Bread was a definite order. The red and green chile were both amazing, but the taco was a hand fried homemade tortilla which was one of the best bites and crunches I can remember in my 50 years on earth.

Cute diner filled with locals and friendly staff ready to serve you authentic southwestern dishes in a retro diner vibe. People watching was half the fun as there are lots of characters there. Fried burrito was very good.

Great food, service and atmosphere. Glad I got in early - there was a line out the door when I left!

You have to stop if staying here. Little small seating about 75 people. The chip sauce is a little hot with great taste and the service was spot on and never had to wait. The food was out standing. Really it worth the stop. We are very picky people from Texas and know Mexican quality food and this is 100% it. Out standing

Such food! Very wow!
We were on Northern Arizona for a week and this was the meal we all agreed was the best. The Navajo Tacos were our favorites... the combo plate was great... the service was excellent. We couldn't gave asked for better. We wished we lived closer.

Very good experience, employees are nice and helpful. Food is very good. Small cafe but has lots of seating. Been coming here several times a year for past 25 years. Never a complaint. First time I tried the Menudo, it was very good. Taco plate is good and special burrito is phenomenal!

Best Chile Rellenos I've ever had in Arizona. We also had the Navajo Taco. What a pleasure to have sopapillas in AZ as well! Great meal all around. Fast, polite service. Will return!

This place hasn't changed anything except for the size of the sopapillas. We had the Combo with green Chile enchiladas and a taco with rice and beans. It was filling and definitely will go back to grub some day. It's been years, we were here, we weren't disappointed at all.

12 day roadtrip and we came across this down the street from the famous "corner" in Winslow, AZ.
About as authentic as you can get. Small and modest, but don't let that stop you.
Salsa was so good, we wanted to buy some to take home (which you can) but we still have 2 days left before we have refrigeration.
However, being that we do make frequent road trips to AZ, we will make this our go to spot to stop along the top!
Unbeknownst to us, we sat at Harrison Ford's table too!
Awesome people, awesome food!

Thanks for a wonderful lunch stopping on our way to Sedona, Arizona.
It was wonderful to be able to eat and not worry about the bikes. Navajo tacos highly recommended.

Luck of the draw saw us stopping here as the other location we were going to stop at was out of business. The love and care in the food was noticeable. The crispy fried tacos, enchiladas, Navajo Fry Bread, etc. were all amazing.

Small, quaint hometown cafe. Recommended by worker at the meteor crater. Had daily special - two tacos and enchiladas refried beans and rice. Was surprised by waitress who brought over fried bread and a jar of honey after meal! What a wonderful treat. Bathrooms need a little sprucing up however overall was a quaint place and would go back again.

+JMJ...Nice, quaint, very low key cafe with very friendly staff. I believe my friends told me that the cafe is family owned. A claim to fame I found fascinating was the visitation of actor Harrison Ford. The memorable moment was captured and a photo placed near the booth he sat in. My meal of Huevos Rancheros was yummy, but my friends' fry bread taco looked yummier. UPDATE: Saturday, 12 September 2020..A friend and I made a day trip from Cottonwood to Winslow. After sightseeing and enjoying by friend's reminisces about his boyhood escapades, we enjoyed Navajo Tacos from Brown Mug Cafe. They are handling all the restrictions mandated by CDC well but it is a small cafe so my friend and I ordered out. We were greeted at the door by a very nice young lady. After taking our order, she said she would bring it to us. My Navajo Taco was DELICIOUS!!! Every bite was a taste delight with the flavorful meat and bean mixture topped with fresh shredded lettuce, diced tomato, shredded cheese and medium hot salsa (on the side.) Wasn't able to finish my meal and look forward to eating the leftovers. Wonderful eats and I highly recommend stopping in for dine in or take out.

Never been here before. Staying across the street and just walked over. Dining room was small and seating limited due to social distancing. Which is fine. They were taking several safety precautions. Service was fast and our waiter was super nice. Chips and salsa were tasty. I ordered the crispy chicken tacos with rice and beans. Friend ordered sour cream enchiladas. Told they were phenomenal. Everything was good. The rice and beans were FANTASTIC. We're glad we decided to try it. Would definitely recommend.

Good food, not Michelin but pretty darn good. Cheap, great atmosphere. Right across from La Posada. Thanks for the meals and the company, Piggy!

Great Arizona Style Mexican food. It’s like going to Nana’s house to eat. They are a family run business that does a great job and friendly service. It is one of the best in town.

Excellent food, wonderful service. The cafe is nothing fancy but don't let appearances decieve you. Our server was so helpful, she brought over sauce samples when we had questions about the spice level. When we got our food, it was hot and delicious! The shredded chicken and beef was spiced perfectly. My Navajo taco was very tasty. One person in our party had a burger and fries, which were prepared perfectly. Great restaurant, when I get back to Winslow, Brown Mug Cafe will be on my list of stops.

Passing thru on a business trip and was traveling with 2 Corgis. Walked in and ask the waitress if I could take menu outside, because my wife was watching the dogs out front.Ashley pointed out there was patio dining that we would be welcome to sit at. When the manager noticed the tables were a little dusty from the recent rains she had someone come right out to wipe them down. Ashley was so friendly and kind. She brought two bowls of cold water for the pups. Ashley was a super waitress and the food was good. Will make this a regular stop when traveling through Winslow. All the staff at The Brown Mug were wonderful.
