Railroad Drug & Oldetime Soda

As a retired pharmacist moving from a northern suburb of Chicago,
Lake Forest, to Midway. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to
have the Railroad Drugstore. I was the manager of the tony pharmacy in the iconic Palmer House Hotel, with the popular soda fountain visited by celebrities performing at the Palmer House, Bob Hope, Phyllis Diller, and many others. The sodas and malts were the best made by what was called a 'soda jerk'. To
have a retro soda fountain in Midway is the BEST plus the
lovely friendly family owners. Have a chili dog and malt while
you wait for your prescription to be filled, an experience not
available at Walgreen's or CVS!

Such a cute little place. We had the strawberry ice cream and it was great. The atmosphere is very small town and very comfortable. The staff was great. Can’t wait to go back

Quaint retro soda fountain complete with counter and twirly stools. Great ice cream and the best shakes around. Food is also available and all is reasonably priced. Great customer service, very clean, bright and cheery. They've got a nice greeting card area an also a pharmacy in the back.

Nicest hard working people you could ever want to meet. I'll never use a big chain store pharmacy again. Really nice people and really good ice cream and food in the front also.

Switched my rx to Railroad Drug after Kroger was no longer considered in-network for my insurance and I wish I had switched sooner! No long lines or rude people here. My rx has always been ready promptly and the people are so friendly and I am in and out of there so fast (unlike at the big pharmacy stores where you are waiting in line for 20+ minutes). They also have free delivery for your prescriptions if you live nearby which makes my life so much easier as a mom.

I loved this little old fashioned soda shoppe with 50's look including counter and stools. It was clean, well kept, the staff was friendly and it was very affordable. Nice little downtown area as well. This place has lunches, ice cream and old fashioned sodas plus a very neat pharmacy. I took my 16 year old there and my niece/nephew who are 7 and 9. They all loved it. Their lunch menu is very limited, about 5 food choices that suited our needs.

Shopping in Midway when a family member got stung by a bee. We went to the Railroad Drug store and the pharmacist and staff were extremely helpful and friendly (even though I was wearing a Louisville shirt, and there were Kentucky photos all around). Soda fountain employee was friendly and the ice cream was delicious.

Every town should have one of these. Customer care is second to none. Great business that caters to their customers. You cannot get to them to pickup your
Medicine don't worry they deliver. The pharmacist calls you when your regular medications need refills . In an industry that has become so automated it is great to know there are still businesses out their that have a personal feel to them.

Also an added benefit . You have to check out their Old Time Soda fountain. Get an ice cream, ice cream soda, milk shake or hot dogs, sandwiches, and more.

I highly recommend trying out Railroad Drug & Soda Fountain.

This place was pretty cool, great place to grab a quick bite or get some ice cream. Hot dogs are like .79 and sandwiches are like 2.49. I got hot dogs and ice cream both were good and the girl working the counter gave us great service. I will definitely come here again

An old time soda fountain, the young man making our treats was cheerful and courteous, they serve Bluebell ice cream. Our shakes were delicious. Loved the atmosphere

Love it, the people, decor, vibe, and how respectful and kind they are to all their customers. AND If I'm unable to make it in they will deliver exactly what I need to my front door. What pharmacy can you think of has THAT bedside and old respect of truly caring their patients are well...I am unable to think of one; how about you?

This place is awesome! Their ice cream is amazing and right now during quarantine, if you call them, they will bring the ice cream to the door for you ☺
