William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bay Bridge

Well, since someone is really interested. It's a long bridge there's no turning back after you pay your 16-18$ toll each way it's also in Virginia I sometimes use this bridge when I'm picking up my fur baby...he's my baby. My adult son seems to not need me at all. Not even to talk to anymore.
Back to the bridge.. there are 2 tunnels to go in after part of the bridge. You drive into a tunnel all underwater. Come back to a bridge and then go through a 2nd tunnel..then a bridge it's all connected about 4 Mike's long. I'm always alone on this bridge. I do alot of driving each month...
It's a nice beautiful water 💧 to look at with nothing but water on both sides...don't go on this without having cash or a real easy pass...u can't fly through without paying cuz there's a stop stick at every toll. It will not go up unless the toll is paid . They do take cash...

Amazing work of architecture and the bay breeze is very pleasant when you roll the windows down during a summer drive down the bridge. The toll is only paid if you drive on the eastbound side of the motorway. Passed by this bridge plenty of times on the way to different destinations on the Chesapeake Bay. Good times!

Beautiful bridge with amazing bay views. If you cross during off hours it's always a breeze.

Incredible experience. It is an engineering marvel. You can see the wide Chesapeake bay on both sides. The traffic is not crazy. You have to pay a $6 video toll to cross it. Ezpass costs less.

I was brand new truck driver rolling up from Norfolk, VA delivering to US Foods. Went through the bay and tunnels and was like that was interesting a little nervous doing it. NEXT dispatch was a DC pick up and took me to "This Bridge" not knowing what I was going over...white knuckled the whole way. Your high and saying please don't collapse!

Feeling like on a roller coaster. Very thin, long and bent bridge! What especially interesting - you can see a bridge right next to, but not as close as you would think it should be. You should totally ride it and enjoy it!

It is truly an amazing experience. The views are breathtaking. The engineering efforts that must have been made in I bet less than ideal weather at times. Seem there is maintainance work ongoing with a big barge under one section.

West to East is $4.00 and I believe free to come East to West.

I didn’t see any sort of visitors center on either end but might have missed it.

It was crazy!! My husband said he felt dizzy,no idea of this bridge until the day we came back from the road trip to Florida(back to New York)

This is one of my favorite Bridges in America, it has a great view of the Bay, I always feel safe while driving on it, if you are lucky enough to drive across it during either sunset or sunrise it will be the highlight of your day, so if you are ever in the area and have to choose which way to go I would add this bridge to your route for sure!

Love the experience of driving and passing a long-mile bridge. Beautiful view of the bay and the nearby surrounding.

As an engineer, it's awesome. As an aging engineer, I'm not digging it as much as I used to! I found myself asking, 'why does it have to be so high?'. Also found myself wondering why you can see between the decking and the bottom of the guard rails. At least I think you can. I stopped looking a long time ago!

It's a pretty cool bridge, I would suggest coming here and trying to find a tour around it or something.

What a bunch of cry babies on here complaining about this bridge. I live on the Eastern Shore and have driven/rode on it my whole life. Sadly, living on the Eastern shore means you have to travel to get to better shopping or medical care or entertainment. While it is a well known fact to us that live on the Shore to not use that Bridge Fri thru Sat during the months of May thru September, sometimes you do. I adjust accordingly for the moron tourists that come to Ocean City. Sadly, i only live about 30 minutes from OC so I get it whether I like it or not. I live just off of Rt. 50 and it is a nightmare during the summer months to just exist. I have to use RT.50 for 90% of my daily travel and these tourists just about kill you.

The Bay Bridge isn't he problem, the problem is we have become a society that lacks patience and common sense. People wait till the last minute to get over creating bottle neck which in turn causes traffic delays or back ups. It all starts at the Severn River bridge. Here's an idea........stop coming over to the beach! Ocean City is dirty, the beach is dirty and it baffles me why people come here for overpriced hotels along with overpriced restaurants.

This place is very pretty ,you only have to pay$4 per car, closed at 8:30pm

Traffic isn’t normally heavy, and the view is awesome!

Rode this bridge multiple times heading to the beach a lot when I was younger. Also, I used to go over this bridge to and from the beach a lot as a child. Lastly, I used it to get to some of the Boy Scout outings at Assatigue Island. I hope to go over the Bay Bridge again in the future.
