Scotsman General Store & Woodshop

My husband and I went here yesterday and loved looking around at all the amazing things. Could have bought out the store but limited myself!! If you are ever in Laurel or going through, do yourself a favor and stop by!! All the staff were really nice.

We watch Hometown and were eager to own a cutting board made in The Scotsman. Very clean and well organized. Well stocked with a good variety. The store manager, Mike, was extremely nice, and we had a good conversation.

Very nice and and inviting. Pleasant atmosphere. Decent amount of things to choose from for every price range.
I did notice some unique items you wont find often, there are hand made quilts and oven mits for sale. Prices were resonable for all the work that goes into these items. Also noted a few other vendors items I'm assuming are local. I liked the personal attention that was given in many places throughout the store, for instance; around the earrings and necklace area there were 4 different vintage mirrors placed on table so the consumer could see if they liked the items they were concerning. Great little shop.

Very cool to see the workshop from the TV show. Large collection of cutting boards and other products made in the woodshop.

Big shout out to the manager, Mike, for spending a few minutes to talk with us about the wood working process! Super nice of him and we will definitely pick up some stuff next time we come through Laurel.

Clean store and saw Ben filming. They had a sale going on and got great deals on souvenirs.
Saw Josh (and his lovely wife) out to eat for dinner and they were so friendly! Offered to do pictures with us and treated us like friends. Thank you for that!

You will find something you never knew you needed or wanted in this store. Kudos to Ben Napier. Love this place... from a zillion types of sodas in bottles, to his own branded coffee, to infused honey, to jams, to ice cream, to cutting boards and lazy Susan's and great yardsticks, to all manner of gadgets. Great sno-cone joint too!

Hubby's dream visit! Didn't get to see Ben but you can view the workshop through a large glass window. Lots of items there for you to take home as souvenirs of your vacation to Laurel.

Stopped by the Scotsman to see if Ben was there or they were filming, but nothing was going on. They have some really nice products, so be sure and browse. The exterior has really changed since I saw it last.

Very cool store. Met Mike, who manages the Scotsman. Very nice and professional. Great guy to talk to.
Also went to downtown Laurel. Ben and Erin have done a lot for the community.

Absolutely loved my visit to the Scotsman store and Ben's workshop. Staff was very friendly and helpful. You can see inside Ben's workshop and they have really nice hand crafted products made in the USA! Gladly support a store like this. Great addition to Laurel.

We are fans of the show so this was our first stop. The staff was very friendly. My 7 year old loves Ben and was so excited to see his workshop. One of the workers got him a small scrap piece of wood which my son thought was the coolest. It made his whole day. Worth the stop

Nice lil shop attached to the woodworking shop in the show Hometown with Erin and Ben. Mike, the store manager, is really hospitable. Lots of merchandise to look through. No photos during live filming.

Another stop on your Home Town tour bucket list. There's a window into the woodshop. If they're filming there's a sign that will light up. Fun to see. They carry Home Town merchandise like a coffee mug that says Measure Once Cuss Twice, Ben's coffee, jams, jelly's and sauces, cutting boards, a fridge full of sodas from all over, then a section for snacks and snow cones, candy, and such. A mural sits on top. They have an observation deck to go up to get a better look at it as well as seating up there. Next door they have more seating, Cornhole, and two food trucks (check hours for those). If you're lucky a train will come wizzing by while you're there. Neat experience.

I enjoyed coming here so much. I was so excited to actually see Ben and Erin. They were in the shop with the camera men, so I did not have the privilege of meeting them, but seeing them was a real treat.
As for the store: the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, the store was beautiful, even the floor was beautiful. (I shared a picture) It has so many things to look at. Quality made items and a large variety of items. I definitely would love to come back.

We made a stop on our way from Gulf Shores to see the town and the shops from the HGTV show. We were able to watch a show being filmed in Ben's workshop, sorry no pictures, none were aloud during filming. The store and workshop are connected. Nice stuff, coffee, soda, shirts, and wood items..cutting boards, wooden spoons. If you come and plan on buying expect to pay, the items are not cheap. That being said remember that everything is made in the USA, didn't see anything imported. You can get a map that has the streets with the houses they have done, but not the house numbers. We took a drive but were unable to find any. Hard to find any when all the HGTV houses cloud your mind 🤔😊 all in all it was worth the stop.

Scotsman General Store and Woodshop is an absolute treasure! You can find some really great clothing, home goods, candy, sodas and ice cream. The woodshop is really cool to see, they have a big viewing area so you can watch the carpenter in action. The store is nicely laid out and super clean. The staff is so friendly and helpful.

If you are in the area you really need to stop here you will love it 💖

What a fun little find! This place was incredible. The people there could not have been more helpful or kind. We got suggestions for other things to see in town from the lovely lady working there. Fun treats and things to see/buy. It was a wonderful experience & totally worth a visit!
