This awesome BBQ restaurant took care of our group of 36 people last Saturday morning. We had 22 Ford Tremor trucks. Occupied thier entire parking lot, and then some. Not only was it effortless for them and thier professional staff, the food was the absolute best I have ever had at any Texas BBQ restaurant and I have eaten at many, including 5 other Coopers branded stores. It was so delicious, moist, and great flavor. Many in our group 100% agreed. You will not go wrong!

This place rocked!!! It’s barbecue so be prepared to pay but it was some of the best BBQ my wife has ever had!!!! We don’t do pork so we were a bit limited but the beef ribs were the shiz-nit!!! Sides were solid, brisket was cooked excellently and we had a whole chicken which had a good combination of smoke and spice. All in all this is a well balanced BBQ place and it shows that they cook with care and love.❤

Best BBQ in Texas! I realize that is a bold claim. We've gone to all of the top BBQ spots in the DFW area, as well as some in Austin and Waco.

There's definitely a lot of really good BBQ to be had, but there is just something different about the food at the original Cooper's location. The meat is juicy, tender, and falls off the bone. It is great dry, but they'll dip it as well (if that's what you like).

I was there on May 4th with a group of about 50 people and they got us all served quickly and extended real southern hospitality to our group. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and the only complaint I heard was that stomachs weren't big enough to eat more (I know I wish I could have eaten more).

Mason, TX can be out of the way for most people, but you'll be handsomely rewarded for taking the drive if you stop here for a meal.

Some of the best berbecue I have had in Texas and the fact that they serve goat makes it even more special as I have not found that anywhere else. My husband did the ordering and said that they had great customere service. They had a one man band playing outside too which made for great ambience. Overall they just deserve 5 stars for everything.

This was the best BBQ I've had in ALL, you heard me right, **ALL** of Texas! Brisket? Of the chain. Complementary beans? 11/10. Pork ribs plus the homemade smokey strawberry bbq sauce? 110/10. I would say I'm at a loss for words; however, that is clearly not the case, I'm down right giddy after eating here.

Wow!!! The most amazing BBQ that I have had in a very very long time! They even let you walk up to the pit to see the meat on the pit and select it. I have been on a quest to find awesome barbecue and this place is the best I have found so far! They have been around since 1953 and they are the original. There are other Coopers BBQ that tried a spin off but they are different. This one is the original. They start preparing the mesquite wood the day before and burning it to prepare the coals. Then they add the brisket in giant pits the wee hours of the morning to have it ready later than day. It's a labor of love and pride to prepare barbecue this way and it shows. If you are in the area, please please try this amazing BBQ, you will be happy you did. Everyone there is friendly, helpful and takes pride in what they do which is to make the most amazing BBQ. And they have outdoor seating and are dog friendly. Highly Recommend!

The food is off the charts for taste and quality of meat. It's pricey but it is fair and worth every dollar. I had the brisket and sausage. The brisket was perfectly done with beautiful bark. To add it was super juicy and tender. Icing on the cake is the staff is beyond friendly and helpful!

Outstanding BBQ and the guy who helped us choose our meats was unbelievably kind and friendly. They take pride in their food and customer service and it shows. PRO TIP: get extra sauce - not the stuff on the table, the juicy stuff in the warmer in the back.

Best BBQ of our lives. We were driving by and saw your sign out of the corner of our eyes and did a u-turn at the light. So glad we did. Only hope we get to come back someday! Thank you for what you do and for the unique experience of trying your goat sausage, fantastic! Brisket was so flavorful, turkey was moist and fresh tasting, and my husband said the regular sausage was the best he’s ever had. The jalapeño chicken poppers were a bit dry and we were hoping there was cream cheese in there but they were still good. Beans were good and a nice addition to the meal, though the other side options were a bit limited. Definitely go there for the meat not the sides and we wouldn’t complain too much about that. Next time we’ll try the prime rib!

The most authentic Texas BBQ I’ve ever had located in the most quaint small town. Highly recommend.

I tried the brisket, sausage, Bacon wrapped meatballs, jalapeno poppers, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. (Yes, in one sitting. I know what I'm about lol)
I wouldn't hesitate to order the same thing again. The only thing I'd change is the amount of food I'd order because I wish I had some to take home and eat later!
Everything was amazing. Fast service and great Bar-B-Q...what else could you want?? Nothing. The answer is nothing. Cooper's checks all the boxes TWICE!

I had wonderful smoked pork loin BBQ and a jalapeño popper. The popper had a slice of tender meat inside. It was delicious. For sides, I had their sweet cole slaw and blackberry cobbler. Some families opted to eat outside on the picnic tables as it was perfect weather to do so. As I ate inside, I marveled at the hand painted mural of the Mighty Puncherdome. I'm so glad Mason's original Cooper's is carrying on the family name in a genuine way. Very tasty! Two thumbs up!

Their brisket and the ribs are the B-E-S-T. Don't forget to get it 'dipped'! We also love their chicken stuffed jalapenos, wrapped in bacon, and their sausages! Oh, and their cobbler! Yummm!

Superlative brisket, coming from a Memphian pork BBQ geek. I've lived in San Antonio 16 years now, and Cooper's in Mason was some of the absolute best I've had. Great lean flat, moist, extremely tender. Great smoke. Rub for me was a little on the salty side, but that's my only very minor complaint. Outstanding.

Also, the young men working there were very friendly and professional, which doesn't hurt!

WOW! My wife and I were passing through on our way to Abilene from San Antonio, initially I was just stopping at the Philips 66 to get gas when I noticed this place. I figured what the heck, might as well get some barbecue for the road. When I walked up I instantly got excited when I saw on the menu they had goat! My wife is from East Africa and loves goat but this is the only southern bbq joint I’ve been to that has had goat on the menu! I knew my wife would be thrilled! I also ordered chicken, brisket, both regular and jalapeño sausage and beef ribs. Everything was honestly amazing! Including the goat. I got some serious brownie points for that, but she also loved everything, but, especially the goat 😂
I also got some mac and cheese (my wife’s finishing it off as I write this) I’m not a huge fan but it was better than expected. I thought the macaroni was cooked perfectly, it had a great consistency. I got both black berry and peach cobbler, both were so good but my wife and I both agreed we preferred the black berry. I got some coleslaw, super good. I got a chocolate chip cookie and out-meal raisin, this is not hyperbole, both were some of the best cookies I’ve ever had, not baked at home! The beans were also nice. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the “thick bbq sauce” to me it was like some kind of “fancy ketchup” I actually ended up tossing that out. The other sauce was really nice, I enjoyed dipping the meat in it. Got 4 ears of corn on the cob, it did seem a bit over cooked and mushy but compared to everything else, no big deal. It is edible just not crisp like I prefer.
Last but not least the staff were so pleasant and kind! The true definition of southern charm and hospitality. These people represent the quaint, small town of, Mason TX, incredibly well! While this location is a bit out of the way I’m hoping I find myself passing through again.

Just as good as the famed location in Llano Texas which I have been to 3x before this one. It is the same exact concept and quality meats but cheaper by a bit and faster service due to far shorter lines. I actually think that I would rather make the drive to Mason (closer to home for me anyway) than make the drive to Llano to get great BBQ since it's so similar if not identical at lower prices and faster service. I love the view you get over the pits to point and choose what you want, how much, pending whats available at the time.

The half chicken, smoked turkey, and brisket are big winners for us. My wife and I loved all 3 of them. The coleslaw is great, my favorite classic side to BBQ other than beans or sweet cornbread. The baked potatoes are big and soft, tender and tasty, load it up with toppings as you wish. We paid about $70 for all our goods and leftovers as well.

Worth the drive from wherever you are! Awesome pit smoked BBQ, and great sides, plus the desserts 😋
