The Rocket

I called in for take out order. It was fresh and still warm. Absolutely delicious. Very fast and friendly service.

The Rocket is a local favorite for me. When I was younger, my family would purchase some type of meal or snack when we would come visit my grandmother in Jacksonville. The Rocket was relatively on the restaurant list from time to time. The food has always been good here.

Food here is always top notch. Been eating here off and on for 30 years, never had a bad meal. Always busy, but that's how it goes with a good restaurant. Recommended!!!

Absolutely excellent! This was my first trip here and it was exactly what I was hoping for it to be. The atmosphere suggests locally owned, old school restaurant and that's exactly what I wanted. The food was exacl6as described in all of the other other reviews. Very filling! Very tasty! And the prices aren't outrageous. I will definitely be back and I would absolutely recommend this place to others.

30 minute detour off our main drive home from Gwinnett County, Georgia was worth it. BBQ, fries, corn nuggets were all delicious, as well as the bottomless tea. We could not finish our meals; the servings were very plentiful. Owners, Patsy and Gary(?) were great hosts, too. All of the young ladies at the counter were very pleasant and friendly, which makes the visit even better. Service was excellent.

Everything on the menu is delicious. It is one of the best places to eat in the city.

Always a great restaurant for the award winning Best burger and BBQ! Had the BBQ sandwich with potato salad and baked beans. Sooo good!

I've been eating from this restaurant my whole life. I remember when you pulled up, parked, ordered by phone and food was brought to your car.
The food is awesome!!! The prices are great. It takes a bit to cook the food, but it's all made to order. Its hot, and fresh.
The twin cheeseburger is my usual order. Two Cheeseburgers (rocket style) with fries. It's two meals.
I also love the BBQ salad. A bed of greens and veggies topped with freshly chopped BBQ meat, BBQ sauce, pickles, and your choice of salad dressing. So delicious.
Don't hesitate to call in your order for pickup as the building itself is lackluster and very small. I don't believe it's been updated since the 1980s. A walk up window is also available on the side of the building.
Parking is a park where you can, it's a gravel lot with no parking space lines.
Best BBQ in town, best Cheeseburger I've ever eaten. Jacksonville loves the Rocket and you will too.

The food took about 40 minutes to come out, but it was worth the wait. I ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich with onion rings and potato wedges, and they were delicious.

Excellent BBQ! 29 years ago my mom ate it once a week when she was pregnant. I just had it for the first time out of the womb. I'm hearing the sound of her belly as the food takes me on a subconscious thrill ride back to pre-birth. I have come full circle and realize why I love all BBQ so much. This is the place that started it all for me. Such great food.

The food here is so on point- BBQ, cheeseburger, catfish- all great. But I live for their corn nuggets and baked beans. They’ve started taking debit/credit which means I don’t have to stop and get cash out which is much appreciated.

BRING YOUR CASH because this is THE BEST restaurant in all of Jacksonville Alabama by far. On a good day like today, you can smell the smoky goodness from either end of town. It doesnt matter which meat you would like because they are all great, chicken, beef, or pork. My wife grew up here and we stop every year when we visit. Always excellent. Sometimes there is a wait, but good things come to those that do. Absolutely worth it and it does not matter if you Roll Tide or represent War Eagle all are welcome. So come on down and enjoy the southern hospitality.

It was some good BBQ. The BBQ PLATE hit the spot. Also the corn nuggets are awesome. I never had them before but they are delicious. Must have some corn nuggets. 😊☕

If you want an old fashioned, juicy, messy, delicious cheeseburger, The Rocket is the place to go. I've been eating at The Rocket for over forty years. Sometimes nothing else will do but a good ole Rocket cheeseburger or barbecue sandwich. The Rocket sauce is the secret ingredient.

Best cheeseburger in the area. The Large cheeseburger is huge, it takes about 20 minutes to cook but so good. Very consistent, which is hard to find these days.

As always the food and service is amazing. The small dining room with cramped tables seems more designed for Oompa Loompas than grown adults. But for the BBQ, sacrifices are made.

Hubby and I had a date day and stopped on for lunch. Very good pork. Highly recommended.
