Berger's Family Restaurant

A steadfast classic of Bay City for several generations, this sit down family restaurant specializes in seafood. Perch, Walleye, Shrimp, Clam Strips, and Scallops are among the several dinner offerings. To me, the highlight are the German Potatoes. Get a pint or quart to go!! The sweet vinegar flavor is unique and quite memorable. Onion rings and fries are crispy and hearty. Lots of mushrooms on the mush/Swiss burger. Dinner roll was soft and fresh. Slow on a Sunday night, servers are friendly and the food came out lightning fast.

Our favorite unpretentious family restaurant, halfway between Bay City and Saginaw, on M-84 just south of the
I-75 interchange.

Good stopover point on your trip up north, or returning south. A real "gem" with friendly staff, moderate prices and wonderful food: entrees, salads, soups, pies, coffee, wines.

Not fancy. Just really tasty home-style food. Wife and I are senior citizens, who love the fish at Bergers.

We get the grilled cod or trout, baked potato, side salad, terrific pies. And we split a glass of Merlot wine -- for that little extra sweet touch.

Why settle for the same-old, "big chain" or fast food?

These are good hard-working people.

Food was great - had mostly fish. And a chef salad. All was good. Atmosphere is fine but it's not the old place. We miss it. But we had a great meal. Thanks.

My husband and I stopped in here on our way down south, it was amazing comfort food, at a good price with clean restrooms and quick and friendly service. Very much appreciated!

Nice friendly family restaurant. Menu has a large variety to choose from but I always end up getting the perch dinner that comes with 2 sides. It's pan fried with light breading, so delicious! I ordered the regular size but they also have a large size available. We also ordered southwest chicken wrap and onion rings. Restaurant is family friendly and usually see an older crowd dining in here.

Great local Family restaurant with long history of fresh delicious food. Visiting for the Midland antique festival. We stayed around the corner and have seen the billboard on I 75 for their Fresh Perch! Boy was it good! You could tell it was freshly caught and freshly prepared with a light coating and seasoning. As good as the fried fish I buy when in the UP! Got with fries and salad. Good stuff. Glad we came by!

Sevice and food are exceptional. Too bad it wasn't busy like it should be. The cocktails were great, good selection of craft beer. Locally owned. The only way to go!

Our group of 6 visited here while in town for funeral on a Wednesday afternoon. Food is EXCELLENT. Service is EXCEPTIONAL and there were several tables. Restrooms were clean. Parking accommodates 1 ton + vehicles well.

Today, we made a pit stop here at this restaurant. Amazing food, I must say. So, if you're passing through. Be sure to stop in and grab a bite.

My first visit... I am very pleased. Our server was Andrea. She is a Rockstar, however both servers on the floor were attentive and accommodating. I am particular regarding German Potato Salad... I found one!!!! Kicking myself for not visiting sooner !! Hot Beef Sandwich and German Potato Salad... not pictured... delicious side salad... and my Peach Cobbler and ice cream.. in my defense.. I was pre occupied..

The food was amazing! And just the rich history made the experience 10 times more amazing. I will definitely be coming back for their German patato salad.

Excellent food & fresh fish choices & sides. The warm German Potato Salad was wonderful. Only minor downside was the dinner rolls were avg, but the butter had a little love in it

Warm, family run place. We enjoyed our hot beef sandwich and mushroom & swiss burger. Very reasonably priced.
