Kost Dam County Park, Chisago County

Kost Dam County Park is a hidden gem that's a drive from the more popular parks of along Highway 8. It's worth the drive though!

They have beautiful views of the Sunrise River, a pavilion, picnic tables, BBQs, a playground, and plenty of fishing access. The park is well maintained and manicured. We loved it!

Went for paddle boarding. I prefer no wake, very quiet water trails. Stayed above the dam, didn't want to get stuck in shallow water farther down from the dam. The lake was beautiful, not covered in weeds but there are patches. The waterway was deep enough for a board with a fin. Was able to go about a mile out before hitting a dead end with a downed tree. Lots of green and blue herons and tiny little fish.

Love this place, been coming here since I was young and a little on the rustic side, but a great place to have a little gathering or just hanging with the kids. There are hiking trails, fishing, the dam is cool, usually some wildlife, tables for eating, a little park and also has rustic bathrooms.

I grew up near here and have always enjoyed the park. You can fish below the dam and y even catch a walleye (small). As a kid we caught alot of bullheads. If you put a boat in above the dam and head up the Sunrise river you can catch northern pike. The park has only gotten better over the years.

Clean and well kept. Caught two pike on the top dam from my kayak, a little too weedy for my preference, but still fun

I've always liked this place. Good place to go fishing, have a BBQ or do some bird watching. The grounds are always kept very well taken care of.

Never knew it existed! Was a quiet place to stroll and view a small, but swollen flow over the dam. They have a small exhibit from the time when power was generated there. Wish they had some historic plaques in place to tell that history.

Parking on either side of the bridge. Restrooms on south side of dam. Playground for the kids. Picnic tables and grills accessible. Good fishing in the lake behind the dam

Beautiful park with a lake. There's two clearings, one on either side of the dam. there's a bathroom. The dam is always making a great water rushing sound. There's a wheelchair accessable pagoda. You can walk down to the river and wade in. Saw lots of fishers there

Beautiful, caught a pike from the bank out at the weed line on the lake(across, not the right, however there's probably some sitting there occasionally too), saw people catch lots down after the spillway.

This park is a hidden GEM 💎 in Chisago County. Beautiful to fish or picnic. No trails for hiking and no playground. Small picnic pavilion.

Nice quiet little park tucked away on a gravel road with almost no traffic. There are a few picnic tables and grills to make use of and restrooms although they are basically glorified outhouses, there is no running water. I found it a nice place to relax an hour or two.

Always a fun place to fish with kids below the dam.

Great lake and river fishing in one destination. Beautiful, scenic and very relaxing. Perfect spot for a picnic. Was very clean the two times I've been there this fall.
