Billys by the Bay

Enjoyed Billy's By the Bay which is on the other side of the madina away from the main Greenport dock area. The rating is 4.5 so I'm giving 5 stars to try to bring the overall rating to 4.5 stars. It's kind of an attached shack to a pool in the middle of a shipyard. Then main seating is on a deck with a bar in the center. The naked clams were Claus with stuffing and were great. The fried belt clams were deficits and the oysters baked/ roasted with bacon were great. Full bar on site. Worth a trip if you're going for seafood as the atmosphere is pure dockside.

We ate at Billy’s by the Bay three times during our week in Greenport. That’s how much we liked it. Billy’s is located in a boatyard just outside of the Village of Greenport. The entire place is outdoors and covered, has a flip flops and tee shirt vibe, and live music. Over two lunches and one dinner we pretty much had everything on the menu. The highlights were whole fried clams, fish bites, broiled scallop Caesar salad and soft shell crab Bloody Mary. Everything else was really good too including steamed lobster, steamers, stuffies, clam chowder, and grilled swordfish. The best part was our waitress Cassie who welcomed us and our dog Winston with open arms every time we showed up. This place felt like “the beach” and had way better food than over priced Claudio’s.

Oh boy, let me tell you about my wild adventure at Billys by the Bay in Greenport, NY. This place is an absolute blast! From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had stepped into the funky world of Yacht Rock Radio. The live band was playing tunes that could make even the most stone-faced sailor start swaying their hips. I half expected to see Captain Stubing from "The Love Boat" grooving in the corner.

Now, let's talk about the food. I ordered their fish and chips, and oh my cod, it was fried to absolute perfection! The batter was so light and crispy that it practically floated off the plate. I couldn't help but feel like a seagull ready to swoop in and steal it, but I resisted the urge and savored every flaky, delicious bite. It was so good that I considered auditioning for "MasterChef: Fish and Chips Edition" right then and there.

But the real star of the show was their Crabby Mary. Forget about your regular old Bloody Mary; this drink had a feisty twist. It was as spicy as a crab with a sunburn, but oh so tasty. The combination of the tangy tomato juice, zesty spices, and a hint of brininess from the crab just hit the spot. I swear, after a few sips, I was ready to challenge Poseidon himself to a dance-off.

The atmosphere at Billys by the Bay is just something else. The walls are adorned with nautical memorabilia that would make Popeye jealous. You can't help but feel like you're on a rollicking boat ride, even though you're safely on land. It's like being in "The Love Boat" meets "The Pirates of the Caribbean," but with better seafood and fewer parrots.

So, if you're up for an evening of groovy tunes, mouthwatering fish and chips, and a Crabby Mary that will put some fire in your belly, head on over to Billys by the Bay. Just make sure to bring your sea legs and a sense of humor because this place is a seafood sensation that will rock your boat!

What a great time, Gene Casey's band was fantastic. The food was great . A little chilly , but there were heaters n yikes it was warmer .

Very good food. Lobsters are very well prepared. Service was quick. Billy is really nice, funny guy.

Awesome place. Caught some live music on a Sunday night. The band was great. Delicious conch chowder and hot lobster roll. Melanie at the bar took good care of me.

A hidden gem in Greenport. A wonderful tiki bar/restaurant in a marina away from the tourists of downtown Greenport. The food was excellent and so was the entertainment. Definitely will return!!

We just love this hidden gem! We ate here last Saturday, and had the blowfish special & oysters. Wow!! Hadn’t had blowfish since I was a kid, it was fabulous! In fact, it was so good we came back 6 days later for lunch (from Smithtown!). Sadly, no blowfish , but the fluke special did not disappoint, had mine scampi style and it was delish. As was my watermelon margarita! This is the best seafood on Long Island, and reasonably priced. Staff is great, especially the bartender, wish I knew her name, and chef is great. Clams & oysters are fresh, fresh, fresh. If we lived in Greenport I would eat here once a week.

Great fresh swordfish, lobster rolls, steamers and home made bloody marys with the lobster/shrimp/celery/olive skewer! They serve hot lobster rolls too which you don't find often. Colorful, outdoorsy, casual spot with a locals vibe. Friendly service. Wish I found this sooner after all these years! Rent a bike from Dan's and take a nice bike ride (~2miles) over from Greenport :) Then bike over to Kontokosta Winery nearby.

Great seafood restaurant. The stuffing in my lobster was out of this world! Super location in a marina. Our waitress was fantastic handling our table of 14. Not really overpriced. You get what you pay for.

Been coming here for years but since the pandemic, I was very impressed with their new extended tent setup so you truly can social distance for dinner outdoors. The food as always, is simple and on point. They do fish right. Always. The Crabby Mary is instagram-able again and again. Get out and support!!

Billy's is exactly what you are looking for when you need it- when the craving for some fried clams, tots and definitely the peel n eat shrimp (hot and spicy please). Watch the rum punch, it's sneaky. Great bloody Marys too.

Great place for lunch. Fish was fresh, fries were not greasy. I admit that the shrimp and corn chowder was some of the best I have ever had.

Love this spot! Owners are super nice, and the drinks and food are great. Live music multiple nights a week. Always a joy performing at this spot.

I'm the parking lot of a marina, it is going to be bad or good. This it's always great! The Crabby Mary cocktail, the fried oysters, and everything was perfect.

Had an amazing evening of food, drinks and music at Billys. Cool, relaxed atmosphere and most of all I would like to commend all the wait staff for being so helpful, pleasant and hard working. Great job guys!

Great seafood and outdoor dining. Almost water view! Super good band the day we visited. Flounder sandwich was great. Shrimp salad, mozzarella sticks, soups, and steamers got good reviews. Prices were fair. Fun Greenport spot.

Cool atmosphere, good seafood, and the crabby mary was delicious and super fun. We enjoyed everything we ordered. This place is a family favorite of our local friends, and I can see why. We will back back again!
