Awosting Reserve

Excellent hiking trail from the Beech Hill Rd access even for mountain bikes if you don't mind the 3 mile uphill!

We regularly use this area for hiking from the Aumick road trailhead to either Awosting lake or Gertrude's nose. It's a great public access area of Minnewaska Park and free of charge too!

Nothing like a good walk in the Gunks and Awosting Reserve offers it all. Scenic walk, challenging or not depending on your level and preference, a real gem. Close to world class rock climbing and a cool college town as an added bonus.

Beautiful clear lake. Loud beggar ducks. In August some bushes are in bloom around the lake. The fragrance is amazing!
