Wood River Golf and The 11th Green Restaurant and Pub

I love this place. Pace of play always seems to be reasonable. The conditions are more than adequate for the price. Pretty gettable layout, but some unexpected challenges can bite you (looking at you, #7 and #8). The rock-hard greens in the summer are venomous for those of us who like to play airborne golf. Back "5" holes across the road are insanity. Local knowledge required.

Legendary. The place where it all began. The place where dreams are made. Years ago we rolled into this little hole in the wall golf course simply known as "The Coop". Little did we know how much the beautiful views and peaceful serenity of this course would strengthen our bond. We are now an inseparable group of men who look forward to our monthly pilgrimage to this renowned haven. Sure the golf carts are in rough shape and your ball...it may hit a barn or a swimming pool...the greens.. yeah.. they're a little bumpy.. but there is just something so special about this place.. It will call to you once you've experienced its majesty. To all the men out there yearning for a weekend of freedom... make this your first stop. This. Is. The. Coop.

I moved away five years ago so I have missed the Thompsons and Wood River. On my last and I mean Last trip to RI I was pleased to see they still cater to their guests and offer great food at a good price. Best place to golf in South County. Extremely fair prices. Aside from a couple greens needing healing from last year's drought and a lack of sand traps. It's a great time with friends.

Great for beginners. The staff were really nice. It was easy to navigate. The people there were nice and accommodating even though we were beginners. I really had a good experience and didn't feel out of place or uncomfortable

A family run business that is always happy to see you. If you score a disappointing round, the restaurant will always cheer you up.

First let me say the golf course is in the best shape of had ever been. Not to mention the cost, only $17 for 11 holes. I know, why 11 holes? Well the main part of the course is located on one side of the road and the rest on the other. Plus unless you play speed golf, tough to get more than 11 in after 6pm.
Anyway, they have created a great outdoor dining area complete with a beautiful pond and waterfall.
The food has been outstanding the past couple of years. So I really recommend this place for a nice night out to eat, or a few hours of good golf and dinner.

This is currently one of the very best “secret” restaurants in the South County area and definitely a treasure for those who live in the nearby area. We have eaten both in the club and multiple take-outs as recent as last night…our response is OMG, this is memorable cuisine at a top level! THE FOOD IS FANTASTIC! I plan to give my wife the best birthday dinner possible, and this is my number one choice.
While they’re currently able to only to serve the dinner menu Wednesday to Friday, apparently due to unavailability of hiring new staff members. We urge those seeking jobs to join the team. This top dining spot deserves to be filled every weekend without question. Please, please support this business.

The Prime Rib is honestly the best in the area. A surprisingly great restaurant.

Well, it’s been another summer and at least 8 times eating here since we tried this place earlier this year and I’m finally realizing that I never gave a review. So here it is.

The 11’th Green is on the way to our new summer place in Charlestown. After arriving a bit late one night and looking for someplace close to grab a bite, we decided to give it a try.

Well since our first visit, we have sampled many of their offerings. Turkey club, eggplant Florentine, chicken parm, heirloom pork chop special, prime rib, baked stuffed sole and deserts including their blueberry bread pudding (think that’s what it’s called) and their carrot cake. The three standouts for us have been the pork chop, the prime rib and the carrot cake, all of which have been exceptional (the prime rib), to the best we have ever had, anywhere (the carrot cake and pork chop special).

From its relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff to its great spot on the golf course, if your looking for good food, friendly service and reasonable prices you have to give this place a try.

Excellent food and service. The fish tacos were delicious. My husband got the short rib grilled cheese, so filling he could only eat half. He brought the other half to work the next day and his coworkers were drooling wondering what he was eating and where it came from!!! Our new hot spot🌮🥪🍺🍷

Not a golfer so can't comment on that but I attended a big bday celebration here and I was shocked to see how nice it was. I drive by all the time and had no idea how nice it was. Love the outdoor space and the restaurant looked lovely.

Love this course. Cheap and informal. No tee time required. Pretty open, but there are some challenging holes, especially the back nine, which has some devilish features. My favorite place to golf.

Great and friendly staff

Due to some medical conditions, I asked if I could just play a few holes. Their reply was an enthusiastic YES! They asked if I needed any assistance and I knew that they were keeping an eye on me from the club house.
The course is golfer friendly and a great place to get your game in shape and and play. You can use ever club in your bag! Thanks! Bob C

The 11th Green Restaurant and Pub at Wood River Golf is an excellent large family-owned and managed restaurant. The entire Thompson family and their helpful staff are very amiable and down-to-earth.

I believe the best way for me to describe the cuisine is "gourmet home-style food". Yet happily the prices are reasonable with the portions generous. The food is always fresh, and there are many creative dishes to choose from; vegetarian and GF options too.

Our family/friends have eaten there (or gotten take out) many times over the years and have never been disappointed.

They offer lunch and dinner, a Today's Specials menu and a bar menu. Great desserts! Take out is also available.

In the warmer months they use their substantial garden grown behind the kitchen for many of the menus delicious vegetables, also buying locally when they can.

The 11th Green Restaurant includes a large separate banquet room that capably accommodates parties, showers, fundraisers, tournaments etc.

Seating throughout gives diners a relaxing view of the golf course.

If you prefer to sit outside they recently added a beautifully landscaped outdoor patio next to a pond that includes a waterfall feature.

They are open most of the year depending on the season. They tend to close in the dead of winter for a month or so; you might consider calling ahead to check (I have found they usually are open).

The golf course is public and although I don't play golf a few people who do have told me its got about the most affordable prices in the area, even including a cart.

The restaurant is about 25 or 30 minutes from Kent County (with ZERO stop lights all the way there once you're on Rt. 95)! From the south it's about 10 minutes from the CT border up 95 (about 15 or 20 minutes north of Westerly going the back way).

Even in the summertime when the east side of South County is jammed everywhere with beach traffic this is a nice easy drive down Rt. 95 to Exit 2 then take a left and go straight about 2 1/2 miles and you'll find it set back on the left.

Needless to say I personally highly recommend it. In fact I'm having a Pavlovian Response as I write this. :-)

The golf course is nice. I wish the owner would open the restaurant for lunch on the weekends, so you could do 11 holes, easy lunch, and then finish the other 7 holes.

Great place to grab a bite to eat even if you don't golf! The food is excellent!

First time eating at the restaurant and it was delicious. The staff are really friendly. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend it for lunch or dinner!

The food was absolutely amazing! The salmon, the mushroom ravioli, the creme brulee- everything was homemade and perfect!
