My daughter, Lydia (age 7), wrote a persuasive essay about why you should visit Hack & Livery:

I think you should go to Hack & Livery. Hack & Livery has candy, toys, coloring books, earrings, garden sticks, and wind chimes. The people there are nice because they wrap your presents for you! Sometimes they let kids come behind the shelf to see the candy that they can’t see. There is no other store like it in Hope Valley. It’s next to the fire station. These are some reasons you should go to Hack & Livery.

This is the BEST giftware store EVER, such unique items with Great quality, oh & did I mention that they giftwrap for free, which is unheard of today ( gift wrapping), let alone for free.

The ladies that ork here are so helpful and so patient. They have so many candy options to choose from all in glass jars like the olden days of penny candy. They have so many different items at this store, I suggest the first time you go to leave yourself PLENTY of time to look around. They have alittle bit of EVERYTHING! They even gift wrap your items if your purchasing it for a gift! Once you have been there for the first time, I guarantee you, you WILL return!

Small town charm you have to take the family here. Toy selection is great for kids and the candy counter is awesome for all ages. Love the candy buttons. Super awesome Christmas shop upstairs.

What a magical place...there is something for everyone and then some. Very unique items for the perfect presents. The staff was amazing as well!

Cozy inside with a maze of shelves. Want scented candles? Follow the fragrance. Looking for creams and soaps? All kinds. How about some funky clothing? No problem, just head towards the back where you'll find jackets, scarves, tops, warm shoulder wraps, soft socks and lots more.
Maybe a mug? Yes, some beautiful ones and some funny ones. What about candy? Thought you'd NEVER ask! ENDLESS JARS OF CANDY for purchase by the pound. Kids' toys and books, games and puzzles. Any jewelery? Plenty! Plus a second floor full of Christmas.
A general store full of...just FULL!

I love this place and stop in any time I am looking to buy special occasion gifts. In addition to a large variety of Penny candy, they have books, jewelry, soaps, toys, home decor, and novelty items. Lots of fun finds for all ages. A bit on the pricey side but the customer service, free gift wrapping and shopping experience make it well worth it.

I've been going here most of my life. Very quaint store with many options for unique gifts but still the main reason we go is for the candy. Great selection and great place to get your candy fix. I also love you can find tons of things for those goodie bags you make for birthday parties. Always a cool place to find things from your childhood.. Like my sister favorite is the wax drinkable candy. I've gone as a kid now, and I take my kids. Hope the tradition stays alive.

Hack & Livery is a must stop and explore little shop tucked away in the folds of Rhode Island...honestly, super easy to get to!!!! to say this shop is stuffed to the rafters would be accurate. Give yourself time to explore each nook and cranny and all the little delightful things tucked in and about the shelves. The "penny" candy is a finishing touch for your shopping time and fun to share!! great to visit anytime of the year, but super delightful and festive for the holiday season!!!

Absolutely love this place. They have the most unique gifts and it's free gift wrapping. They sell clothes. They also have l a variety of the best candy. Candy that's hard to find. They also have candy for diabetic's.
I'd recommend this place a thousand times over. I've been going there for over 40 yrs. I drive a distance to get there. The people are all friendly and helpful in any way. They also have Yankee candles and sell jewlery. Awesome children's toys, not junk toys, but great learning toys. Pocket books,wallets,socks, herbal items too

UNBELIEVABLY great selection of "stuff" ...from the candy and game items that remind you of your childhood to the awesome and beautiful garden decor and jewelry...fun books and craft items...the list is endless. I'm in no way related to or connected with this place or its employees (who clearly love their jobs) but if I could own my dream store...this would be it!

Incredible staff, best selection of candy around. Clothing, crystals, jewelry.,.more then you can even imagine is in here!!! At Xmas time you HAVE to head upstairs to see the beautiful ornaments on the trees.

. My granddaughter loves the large selection of candy. This quaint store is the perfect treasure when you like to take your time and shop.

Hack & Livery recently named BEST Gift Store in RI for a reason! Always unique, friendly, fun ... something for everyone. The penny candy selection alone is worth the trip, along with a delightful staff. A gem in HOPE Valley!!

Pat and Sue search to find the most incredible gift items, jewelry, candy, upscale clothing, curtains, crystals, soaps, costumes, children's books, novelties, glassware, handbags, leather goods, garden ornaments, candles, a Christmas shop on the second floor, framed art work, and I can go on and on still leaving out hundreds of items. This is the type of store I can only dream about. You will not be disappointed. The staff is the most courteous and accommodating I know. I cannot say enough about this gem of a shop. Put this down as a MUST SEE.
