Greenhorn Meadows Park camp site is the best within 1 hour drive range of great sand dunes. Most of the campsites here do not have electric, even for RV sites, let alone water supply and showers. The Greenhorn Meadows park have several sites that provides all you need. Site #2,5 provides electric, shared water supply (old fashioned pump) with other sites, and clean bathrooms with hot showers! Yah! Strong cellphone signals: 4G LTE, a big PLUS!Some notes for electric users. The power outlet is for standard RV, you will need an adapter to convert it to standard 120v wall outlet. There is an ACE hardware store within 2 miles range where you can buy it easily. There is one public big dumpster, a little far fetched, but there will be a big trash can inside bathroom too. I give this campsite 10 out of 10 points comparing all campsites here. Other sites with same conditions are booked months away to next year!

We stayed just over two months in this park. The park is large with generous room in most spaces. Large grassy areas for football games or just to toss a Frisby around. Speaking of Frisby, the county's Frisby golf course is adjacent. You'll drive through to access the campground. Staff is friendly and accommodating. They gave us an area of about a quarter acre (not usually assigned) because we needed close space to park two trailers. Water and electric are available at a few select sites but spigots are available throughout the park. We are self contained with composting toilets, solar and Lithium batteries and didn't even need to run a generator. Lots of wildlife, especially deer, walk through in the evenings. We plan to return for a month every year (August-September). Park is now open year round. Showers and restrooms are clean and stocked. Poor cell service. No playground.

Such a sweet spot! Hosts so friendly and kind, absolutely beautiful spot, totally unpretentious. After the local KOA from hell, this is like a little heaven - and at half the price! Residents are friendly too, sites are spacious and pretty, and bathrooms are clean and smell faintly of bleach, which is always a good sign. I think this is my favorite place we’ve stayed on this cross-country trip. Highly recommended!

Greenhorn Meadows Campground and Colorado City are so breathtaking. The camp host was great!!! Everybody we met was extremely kind and generous. The campground was very well kept and it has nice hot showers. The park is full of amazing wildlife. We saw several mule dear, a couple of whitetails, a fox, skunks, a golden eagle or two. I love the proximity to the ball parks, play ground and library. The foliage and the creek that runs through the park were gorgeous!!! We loved every minute!!!

On August 11, a picnic was organized here. There was delicious food and drinks, good music, good service! Thanks to the organizers! We enjoyed it! And for those who want to visit this place on any other day, they can enjoy a good rest. There are few trailers here at the moment, I saw 4. There are a lot of trailers in the summer. Here is a beautiful view of the mountains, near the lake and the city of Colorado, where there are many shops. And in the park itself there is a library where there is Internet and all the services associated with it.

The camp ground is hidden right in the middle of town, it's a beautiful oasis in colorado city. Great place to stop and rest as your passing through, cute little trails and there is even a little cave. Lots of friendly animal life. And most importantly the host of the park is a wonderful kind person and without her here the campground wouldn't be the same.

Large, fairly private tent site. We were there on a rainy night. Didn't see any people. Did have a buck wander through.
Much of the campground is open meadow with a stream on one side .

A real boon of life and beauty, offered up by father time ( c/o: Mother Nature ) in the form of cozy and colorful Creation.
It's too bad, really.... How quickly We lost sight of this undeniable gift. It's such a sad sight, to see things so beautifully.

Great city campground. Many spots and open spaces to boondock plus a few spots with electricity. Has dump station and water too. Lots of space and excellent stargazing.

So peaceful! Prices are very reasonable and only 20 miles from Pueblo. Tent sites for $12 per night & trailer hook ups with electricity for $15 per night. Bathrooms with shower. Water is readily available at different locations. Septic dump area available. Picnic tables, grills and fire burn areas also. A little piece of heaven! I am so happy to have heard about this campground. I could HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We will be back! 😀

This place is awesome! A group of us have camped here for the past few years; the camp host Sherrie (and Hawk) is awesome. If we ever need anything or there is a problem, she is there to help. Sites are great (non and electric sites available). Shower house (kept very clean) on site. And local stores are just down the road if you forgot something. Also, if you are planning a large gathering, there are pavilions, etc. that can be rented as well. Lake Beckwith and Lake San Isabel are very close for fishing or kayaking, etc.

Memorial Weekend (or any holiday weekend) the sites are full. Unfortunately this year, some campers thought it was ok to pay for one spot and put up about 15 tents. They were very loud, inconsiderate of neighbors (partied until about 4 am and back up by 6am ~ loud music and very loud talking) and very messy. They left the shower house a mess! They were very rude to the camp host when she asked for additional fees and also they were cursing at her when the toilet paper was out in the shower houses. The good host that Sherrie is, came and talked other campers to ensure they were ok and apologized for the lack of consideration of the "other" group.

If passing through this way, I recommend you try it out. We will definitely return to this "little slice of heaven"!!

This is the place where the annual customer appreciation picnic is held every August. There are baseball fields, jogging track and many other things to enjoy. All this in an area with picnic tables under massive cottonwood trees that have to be over a hundred years old. There is also a creek to wade in (when there's water) close by. Excellent place for family picnics.

Nice grounds, someone was a bit loud with their sub and played until 2am. Probably not a regular occurrence though.
