Historic Trails View

One of the most intriguing aspects of the history of the Colorado National Monument are the many signs of its years over thousands of years in the seasonal rounds of the Ute tribes and other peoples. These historic trails speak of this background. An especially good overlook for those with some patience to pick out meaning

Very wild to see the contrast here... the red sandstone of the canyon walls giving way to the Colorado River, and lush, green farmland beyond that around Fruita.

A lesser known overlook, but one of my favorites. It sports a beautiful view of the canyon walls and the valley beyond, especially at sunset. It's fun to read the sign and to pick out the old trail across the canyon. There's some great easy hiking nearby. Just take a care you don't tumble off a cliff!
