My husband and I took a trip to Bannack and received a glowing recommendation from the ranger on site to visit this place. From the moment of walking in the building, we felt so welcomed! Matt and Nicki were so accommodating and hospitable. I had an amazing 10oz NY strip and we loved it so much we decided to camp out in the back in our van and go to dinner the following night. Do yourself a favor and stop in!

Talk about a hidden gem.

We stopped in Bannack State Park, toured the Ghost Town, and had the sweetest park ranger ever not only recommend this spot - but called here and checked to make sure they were open for us before sending us this way!

About 30 mins from Dillon and 20 minutes if you're visiting Bannack, we thought we'd just stop in and have a beer. We each had the best steaks of our lives! I had the 28oz Ribeye and my wife had the NY strip, the types of steak rotate fresh with what local meats they get. It was cooked to perfection and just absolutely the best steak we've had. Better than some legendary steakhouses we've been to in NY and Philly.

We ended up camping for the night in our RV here, and had dinner again the next night. Worth every penny. 🥩🥳

While driving from Las Vegas to Deer Lodge Montana we were looking for dinner spots along the highway. Horse Prairie Stage Stop had one review that won us over and we decided to pull in for dinner. The service was lovely, the food was delicious, and the local beers were tasty. If you're on your way in or out of town make sure to stop in. Your taste buds will thank you.

Broke down on the interstate on Christmas at 2 in the morning. No Tow companies were answering their phones, was feeling hopeless, stranded in the middle of nowhere near Dillon, MT. Called 911 and they managed to get the Horse Prairie to come rescue me with their Wrecker. Not only did they rescue me, they provided me a very comfortable room for a very good rate for two nights while I waited for part shops to open after the holiday. Not only that, they fed me a delicious Turkey and Ham dinner on Christmas Day! Then Don, one of the wrecker drivers drove me to town for parts on my broke down truck, and fixed my truck for a very reasonable price the day after Christmas! These are the friendliest people, comfortable room, great food, and well stocked bar. I will be returning sometime under better conditions!

Great hospitality and even better food. Definitely rustic hunting lodge with a unique homey ambience that makes everyone feel welcome and part of this military family run operation. Vets and active duty receive discounts. Dinner reservations not needed unless you are ordering the amazing Tomahawk steak. Live music some weekends.

I keep coming back!!! 12 miles west of Clark Canyon Reservoir for fishing and recreation. Fantastic stop along the Tour Divide for cyclist and hikers. Hands down the best dry aged steaks in Montana! The beer is ice cold, or if you prefer, they have a good selection of wine. And hey...... the Macho burrito ( my favorite!) is HUGE!! Great atmosphere and staff. Family friendly restaurant, lots of local cowboys and cowgirls in the saloon. A fun place to discover on The Prairie!

This place is incredible! D and Papa D are culinary geniuses! If you want 5 star food, then this is the place! Chicken fried steak, ribeye and nachos are a must!!! Then make sure you leave room for bread pudding. The best our entire group has ever had!

This is a true MT experience! At The Stage Stop, you're treated like a local and won't go away hungry. The steaks are some of the best in the state and they have the biggest chicken fried steak I've ever enjoyed. Call a few days ahead to get the tomahawk steak; you will be glad you did. Also Papa D's bread pudding is worth the calories!

This place is awesome! I’m a Bicyclist on the Great Divide Route. Stopped here for the evening and got 1st class treatment from Amy and her crew. The food and prices of rooms are all awesome. The steak dinner was probably one of the best steaks I’d had in a long time. Definitely worth a stop!

Ice-cycles in May at Horse Prairie Stage Stop, Montana!! A great place- they welcome everyone into their family atmosphere with a smile and upbeat attitude. Amazing steaks!! Clean/comfortable rooms. Lots of recreation nearby. This is where I come to forget the "real world"

Great food! The ribeye was cooked perfectly, the green beans seasoned nicely. Service is quick and value is great. Also try the burgers which are huge! And the breakfast sandwiches Chris makes are incredible!

It was getting late on our road trip from Las Vegas to Kalispell and we knew we weren't going to get up towards the Butte area before the restaurants there would be closed. Started doing some searches for places to eat and saw some interesting reviews about this place. It was a bit out of our way but we decided to try it out. Well worth the trip. It may not look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. We had the chicken fried steak, shrimp tacos, and a 16 oz ribeye. You can choose what size steak you want (from 12 to 24 Oz), so it's not a "one size fits all" steakhouse. The steak was a perfect mid-rare and melted in the mouth. One of the customers at the bar suggested the white gravy for the CFS which was a great choice. The 6 shrimp tacos were tasty, but would have preferred slightly larger tortillas to help hold all the ingredients while eating them. Good selection of beer, both bottled and on tap. If you're in the vicinity, take the 12 mile detour off of I-15 to try the Horse Prarie, you won't be disappointed.

Great place to stop while exploring the area! We stayed the night upstairs. It’s rustic and simple but perfect for someone looking for a bed between excursions. We both got the ribeye and it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The small bar was popular with the locals, even had a live band while we were there. The rooms to stay are pet friendly too!

I came here from the bike ride after 90km. I was so hungry. I ordered the Stage Burger. Came right away, and everything was perfect. The fries, the burger and the service. After the dinner, I enjoyed staying upstairs in the hotel.

Awesome atmosphere clean rooms. The saloon was really cool with nice locals and the restaurant food was delicious. Our morning their we saw a cattle drive go by! Our hosts Amy told us that’s where they get the beef for the burgers we ate last night! One of a kind experience, dog friendly, definitely coming back!

Stayed here for first time as a hunting tag along. Location great & atmosphere awesome in both bar and dining. The food was perfect, and priced right. The specials were great but the prime rib was fantastic!!! The staff were very personable. Would definitely go back to eat and stay!!
