The cabins are very cozy, close to the Portneuf river across from the cabins. It runs by some great RV parking spots looking at that river. I gave them 2 stars for service because no one is around Monday to Thursday, along with limited working hours Friday- Sunday. If you want something, you have to get in your vehicle and drive about a mile away to their other office in a different area of town. I find that ridiculous or even worse, asinine, not sure what the owner was thinking of that concept. Everything else was great. Some people might have other opinions about driving away to check out, they should have a drop box located around the office area to drop off the keys where we were staying at, instead of us driving to the other location drop it off, I found that to be very inconvenience for us.

We wanted a place to stay while going to lava hot springs and found these cute cabins. we were the only ones there and it was winter so it was nice and quiet with a beautiful view of the mountains and the back deck looked right over the river and you could sit around the fire and enjoy. we even watched a family of deer and a critter traverse the mountain in front of us.
The cabin was clean and cozy and the office staff was helpful and friendly. We highly recommend in winter and imagine its gorgeous in summer and is walking distance from 2 different hot springs. it was a very pleasant experience!

We love KOA and especially this one. Have stayed here 4-5 times over the last 5 years. The people are kind and the cabins are kept in good repair and clean. You can walk to the hot springs from here. They have great outdoor eating areas at most of the cabins.

We camp at this KOA every Spring for 4-5 trips through May. The owners are great to work with. Kanda has been excellent with adjustments with our stays as we sometimes need to work around the weather. Facilities are clean and well kept. We stay in a back-in patio site with our 32’ motorhome.
Trains and semis are loud but are not a “deal breaker “. The location on the river and easy walk to town trump the noise issue.
Thanks Cody and Andi for making this our go to spot in the Spring!

We loved staying here! The cabin was plenty of room for five of us with a cot! I loved that we had our own spot to park next to the cabin as well as our own fire pit. Everything was nice and clean. The bathrooms were very nice, they are individual rooms with toilets and showers, so a lot of privacy and were very clean and nice. Definitely will stay here again and recommend to friends and family! Staff was nice too.

Wonderful!!!! Great place to take your family or friends lots to do. The cabins are beautiful well kept. The cabins I stayed in had nice kitchen double sink, plates, cups, bowls and silverware(4of each) microwave, coffee maker, hot plate with frying pan ,grilling utensils for use with the large grill on a large deck plenty of seating accomodations on deck. Bathroom was very nice an clean showers are a bit small (the only slight complaint of the whole experience). I would recommend to anyone who wants to get away for any amount of time.

It could not have been a better experience. KOA grounds were nice and neat. Woman working front desk was thorough in explaining everything and was very friendly. We rented a cabin and it was so charming. We really enjoyed the fire pit. The hot springs and places to eat were within walking distance. My biggest regret was we only stayed one night. we really should have stayed the whole weekend.

We stayed East KOA’s deluxe cabins, it had 4 places to sleep and a full bathroom with a kitchenette (counter, table and two chairs, fridge and microwave. No television but full access to the internet). I guess people call it “Glamping” (glamorous camping). It was really beautiful, with the large trees, giving us just the right amount of shade from the sun. Being on the east side of Lava Hot Spring we were able to avoid the traffic that the town center brought. To the west of the campground there is a short trail from the cabin to the state park hot pots that we were able to walk. There were a lot of trains, moving back and forth, on the track above the city. The kids like to watch the train cars go by. The cabin had a fire bowl that we were able to have a fire for cooking our marshmallows and tinfoil dinners. There was also a grill that we used to cook our afternoon meals (hot dogs of course). A table and four chairs that was part of the outside cabin patio were great for games and meals and just enjoying the outdoors. Easy to find and office staff were warm and pleasant to work with.

Location, cleanliness, and comfort are the main reasons for staying here.

We were in a deluxe cabin. They’re right by the hot springs. We were able to take a couple minute walk to go soak. Also, right behind the cabin is the river. There’s a wonderful deck with chairs, picnic table, grill and gas fire.

The cabin was warm (has AC for the summer). The kitchen has dining ware, grilling utensils, cutting board, microwave, fridge and a hot plate. The shower had great pressure. I can’t think of a rental where I’ve had a better bed. It was great!

The staff was really nice and had great suggestions on where to eat.

All the spots were well maintained. The entrance was a little difficult to navigate but other than that easy campground to navigate. Our patio spot was awesome with a perfect view of the river. The campground can get pretty packed on busy weekends so be ready for that. But a much easier option than the KOA in the middle of the city that seems way to hard to get to.

Campsite was well cared for. We stayed in a “deluxe “ site which was very large with a patio with table and chairs and a fire pit. Easy ingress and egress from site. Laundry was clean with 4 washers and dryers. There is covered Ramada with a grill and oven available. Located close to town and a river walk.

Check in was fast and easy. The staff were friendly. We stayed in the cabins along the river. The exterior was quaint and clean. The interior was very well done and had a great cabin feel Looking at the cabinets and trim they did not cut any corners, very nice workmanship. The kitchenette has a full size fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, hot plate, pans, utensils and more.
The dining area had a nice table, bench seats and a large couch. The bathroom had a full shower, power flush toilet and nice sink. It also had a tankless water heater.
The bedroom had two very comfortable full size beds and was open to the main living quarters by a large windowless opening. So it felt like one large room but could be screened off completely for privacy. A little hard to explain but it was very cool. You could be sitting in the beds and still be part of what was going on in the rest of the cabin. Then you could close the sliding screen and the door for some privacy and block out the lights.
Now for my favorite part, the back deck. It was much larger than I expected. There were two colorful rocking gliding/rocking chairs It has a natural gas BBQ to one side. The raised fire pit in the center was also natural gas. And to one side was a small table with seating. And the VIEW. About 30 feet down was a river running over a waterfall providing an peaceful low rumble that provided a great white noise. (I opened the window and enjoyed that sound all night.) Rising above the river is a steep mountain face covered with unique geological features mixed with the colors of fall. I’m not sure how tall the mountain is but towered over the area. It is beautiful.
Highly recommend you check out this place.

The staff is friendly. The sites are kept green b/c of the groundskeeper and his hard work. The bathrooms are clean. My little Pom's loved the dog run. Sites near the river. Yes, the train is a bit loud but it adds to the ambiance for me. It's Americana at it's finest. The sites on the one end are really close to one another but it's nice and shady on that side. While the sites near the playground and pavilion are bigger and spaced out more, there's not as much shade on that side. It's in a great location.

Great spot just a short walk from the beautiful and historic hot springs. The campsite is tree lined and lovely. Some complain about the trains but, come on, it's an old west town with everything and that includes trains! There were only 2 the night we stayed and I found it charming. The campground itself is lovely with great hot showers and a nice little store at the office. Great stay!!!

It may not have the best scenery, and is right along the highway, but the staff and cabin makes it all worth it! We were in a bind with our car breaking down and they were more than accommodating to our situation. Wireless signal was perfect! Bathrooms were recently renovated and very nice! Will stay again when given the chance!

Loved my stay in the basic camping cabin with the queen and 2 sets of bunk beds, a fridge, microwave, trash can, heating and air conditioning, they also have electricity and a picnic table next to a small fire pit bring own firewood. They have showers and restrooms as well as Laundry facilities a playground and cornhole as well as a dog restroom area.
Not too far from this location is the Lava Hot springs foundation world the famous Hot springs if you go there be careful the sidewalks are a little slippery and there is no area for children play and they don't like children playing in the pools and will let you know.
In town you can find Mike's market, a Sinclair gas station, waffle shop, the Chuck wagon restaurant, ice cream shop and the Royal hotel & pizzeria, Ace hardware and much more. 20 minutes up the road is the Soda Springs geyser.

I almost don't want to share because I'd love for this to stay a hidden gem... but when you have such an amazing experience, it's hard not to share. Our campsite was GORGEOUS, right next to the river, and so clean! Concrete pad, patio furniture, fire pit, charcoal grill and everything! Worth the extra price for sure! The sites on the west side are shady and less traffic noise. The new East side has beautiful bathhouse and laundry and nice sites too. Just younger trees and less shade. You can walk into the little town for hot spring pools, restaurants, and the rooftop bar. The flowers, shrubs, rocks, plants, and the river make it feel like you are in a Fairy Garden!

We stayed in site 1, which I was a little hesitant about because it was right next to the main building. No issues at all! The KOA is well maintained and is right next to the river. Easy access from highway and to downtown Lava.
Small issue was the noise from the highway

Never have had the chance to stop in yet. I usually pass by on the road once a week with an 18 wheeler, and I have to say that it looks so incredible with the way the river runs right by the cabins. Even in the winter with 5 feet of snow on the ground, I would be happy in one of those cabins sitting in a rocking chair with a fireplace going and a blanket on my lap and just enjoy the view 😀
