Bridger Peak Trailhead

This is a short but steep trail to Bridger Peak, the highest point in Rich County. The first half mile is on an steep ATV trail that goes up into the wooded area of the mountain. It's fiendishly steep, but levels out as the trail turns South towards Swan Peak. At this point, you have to leave the trail and bushwack to get to Bridger Peak. The undergrowth isn't terribly thick and the bushwacking isn't difficult. It's another 3/4 of a mile to get to the peak.

The Peak itself isn't readily evident. It's more of a rounded hilltop and hard to know exactly where the top is. There are trees all around blocking any expansive views of Bear Lake to the East. A cairn of rocks has been placed at the actual highpoint so you know when you've arrived. Overall it's about 1.2 miles each way. In October, the fall colors are spectacular in this area.

Normally it seems that a 2WD car could make it, but currently there is a pretty deep snow drift about 1.5 miles up that is impassible.
