Deerfoot Lodge & Resort

Amanda is such a wonderful resort owner in this place is truly an amazing little gem on the Chippewa Flowage. There’s a boat ramp, cabins, bar, and restaurant, etc. Everybody who I’ve interacted with at this place is such a nice person and truly loves their job. There’s great access to the east side for fishing! And I think it’s one of the best place to watch sunsets on the flow edge as well!

This past weekend was our second stay at Deerfoot for our annual fall UTV trip. We usually bounce around and don't stay at the same place twice, but the 14 of us decided that after staying at a different location last year that we definitely wanted to return to Deerfoot this year.
All the accommodations were great. Rooms were clean!
Bar and food were great!
Staff was great, especially Cailey!(I most likely spelled her name wrong) She dealt with our group Thursday and Saturday nights when we came in off the trails after 8pm and ordered food and drinks, and she did an amazing job with a great attitude!
We will definitely be staying again!

Great location! Clean rooms. Boat launch, gas, docks all at your convenience! Bar and grill open early for breakfast. Amanda is so pleasant and informative. A great stay while in Hayward!

So I took a shot in the dark and stayed at Deerfoot for my first trip ever to the area for fishing. We stayed in Cabin 2 from Saturday - Tuesday. We are in love… Amanda (current owner as of October 2023), was sooo nice and personable. Kaylie (I hope I remembered to spell it right) was an awesome bartender at night and always made my 7 year old son feel welcomed. The other bartender (I’m sorry I can’t remember, you lived near) was very personable during the morning. The other two employees I met briefly were males… one for the pontoon rental and another for bait. Both were as professional and friendly.

The cabin was fairly clean… could have been better under the furniture. I say that because my son found two quarters on the floor immediately, but overall, my complaints are minimal and it exceeded my expectations.

The bar has really good food, as limited as it is. It’s clean, spaced out, and comfortable.

The grounds we really didn’t get to experience fully because of the weather and time of year. However, from what we saw, it will be a great place to come back to in the summer.

We rented a pontoon… “eh.” You get what you get. It obviously isn’t a fishing boat, but we rented it because they do have livewells and a chartplotter. It was safer and easier for us to fish off a pontoon that a fishing boat. Rental price is high in my opinion, BUT the are competitive with every other resort that rents pontoons. Would I rent a boat again from Deerfoot? Absolutely. Will I shake my head thinking about just buying a Jon boat for the same outcome? Yes. LOL

Where I was most disappointed was the fish cleaning station. It’s small, cramped, one outlet over the sink (not work area), uninsulated/unconditioned, and they still rely on the multiple 5 gallon bucket system for the fish waste collection. With two fisherman in there cleaning only perch, it was cramped.

Can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely loved our stay. First trip to the area and it was beautiful. The lodge room met all our needs for a quiet fishing trip. The staff were friendly and provided good service. Burgers were really good and worth the wait (the bar gets busy). Highly recommend and will definitely be back

We have stayed at Deerfoot a few times and will continue to go back. The hotel rooms are comfortable and have a great view. Everything has always been clean and well taken care of. The food at the bar is great! we have eaten all three meals in a day there and have not been disappointed. The staff is really friendly and make us feel at home. We have had friends that stayed in the cabins and they are very nice, clean, and very convenient for getting out on the water. They are perfect for a family or group getaway.

we have been to Deerfoot many times over the years and recently had the opportunity to stay at Deerfoot Lodge and Resort. We had a great time, accommodations were execellent and comfortable, the food is excellent, [ I love the peanut butter burger] and the beverages are always tasty.. Amanda and staff do an ourstanding job making sure your stay is the best possible..would definitely recommend Deerfoot Lodge and Resort ..

SIU Saluki fishing trip #7. Weather was perfect.
Fishing was so so. What can you expect when fishing so late in the season. Enjoyed my vacation there. I would go again.

Our fishing group is a repeat customer and we will come back next year. Clean, comfortable (not fancy) cabins are perfect for our purposes. Pillows are a little flat and pots and pans are a little tired but those are minor items. Great dock with power for the boat/charger. Excellent lake views. Lodge is a great stop for food and a beverage when you’re too tired from fishing to cook. Amanda is a wonderful owner/host! Highly recommend staying here.

Our 1st time there and it was perfect. Everyone was so polite and helpful. The cabin was awesome.

Perfect destination for our large group outing. The fishing is really good and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It is so beautiful and perfectly maintained.
The rooms are spotless and have everything you need. The view of the lake is great and the remote setting is perfect for a lakeside getaway. Quiet and great fishing opportunities.

Love this place. The atmosphere is great, the waterfront is great, and the food is great too. Oh, I can’t forget to mention how delicious the old fashioned drinks are too! We love staying here and will be back again next year.

Stayed the weekend, staff was super friendly, efficient in cooking for large groups of snowmobilers and ice fishing groups. Cabins were roomy and modern and clean. Owner Amanda Wilson and her staff made us all feel welcome and made the weekend amazing! Will definitely come back again!

We go to grab a beer or an old fashioned with a nice conversation. The owners are bother very nice. They have a few cabins for rent but we mostly go for the bar. Free popcorn.

I stayed here March 9-13, 2023, this is an awesome resort with great service, friendly staff and wonderful cabins. The cabins are clean, cozy and have all the amenities of home. Been coming here for around 6-7 years and will definitely be back.

What a gem! Situated on a point or peninsula surrounded by water the Deerfoot Lodge is a perfect Northern Wisconsin treat! Vintage and nostalgic, and comfortable and reminiscent. Preservation of geat history. Comfy beds, cozy bar, easy assess to fishing, cross country skiing and boating! We will be back next year! Also hope for a family getaway to remind my family of what it means to be "UP North".

Went to Deerfoot the first week of May. Stayed in Cabin #8 and had a beautiful view of the lake all week. The bar/restaurant was great for relaxing after catching several Smallmouths ( one 19")- Northerns and Walleyes!!

Amanda and her staff are amazing. The cabins are so much nicer than other fishing resorts, and the location is convenient. The fishing is great too! I highly recommend this resort.

Wonderful weekend at Deerfoot! Once again , another weekend event with the Wisconsin Women Fish at Deerfoot! Amanda and her team go above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great time! My room in the hotel was spotless as usual. The food in the bar is great, as are the drinks! I shared the room with a friend who used the futon and we still had plenty of room . The kitchenette is so handy for quick meals. Highly recommend !!!
