Only 4 minutes off Highway 95! Classic country down home cooking. All that good food on the plate plus banana pudding to go for $10.66?! Get outta here. The pork chop in gravy didn’t even need a knife it was so tender. Luka beans and green beans perfectly seasoned and not overly salty. The handmade cheddar biscuit was thick, fluffy, and the size of a hand. For first timers, you can order things like hamburgers off a menu if you just sit down, but that’s not the experience you want. As you enter, you’ll see the line to the right down the chute. Choose either your meat then two sides and bread, or ask for a veggie plate. They’ll get you silverware and a drink once you sit down. When you get ready to leave, ask for a ticket and pay at the front. Hope to come back to try breakfast!

Good, homemade food, reasonable portion, good flavor, not to mention their delicious sausages prepared by them, it has become a fixed stop every time I go to Florida or South Carolina.

We got plates from the bar. Everything was delicious and they give out large portions. Very reasonably price and staff is super friendly.

Must try restaurant! The home cooking is great! Staff is personable and friendly. The cheddar biscuits and chicken pastry are a must try. Highly recommend 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗

I will be eating here again. The food is really good and you get a lot for the money. My waitress was very friendly. I love the down-home southern feel.

Breakfast was delicious. Not far from 95. The line/wait time was about 30 mins but well worth it. Will definitely return when traveling. Large portions and great prices. Our waitress was awesome.

Their food is amazing! Pork chops and cabbage are to die for! Everything else is as good. Waiters are all very nice and helpful! Highly recommend (plus it is close to the exit, which is convenient if you are driving far and dont want to spend much time looking for good places to eat)!

This is my go to place every time I’m in town , I go next door to the market .

Just off 95 in Dortches, NC. This local favorite is a must stop. Food was delicious and the people were so nice. We will be making this a traditional stop on our way south.

I came as an out of towner looking at reviews. I was looking for something that wasn't a national chain and boy did this place not disappoint. It's a semi buffet style of restaurant. If you want something off the griddle you order it first then get in line for the hot bar. The food was amazing and I was full quickly. The waitresses were very attentive and could handle alot of people quickly. You could tell this a hot spot for locals. 9am on a Tuesday and they were swamped with people. Have to remember this for the way back to Florida next year.

This is a place where it fits the area, makes sense, does what they need to do and do it. Simple, flavorful, local, and good. You are treated like you belong, there are a wide variety of options, the only sad thing is that you have to leave and they don't stay open all the time. Came back for lunch and brought my bestie. It's awesome. I need more.

Angela and Amanda have been our waitress. Several timesuch down-to-earth, wonderful people. The food is excellent. Best breakfast spot in Rocky, mount, Nashville and red Ark a month. And don't forget to have some of the potatoes. Pancakes are pancakes are as big as the plate. Good country, home cooking 10 out of 10 would recommand.

Stopped here on the way home from Fla. Found it by accident pulling off I-95 for gas. While the wife was in the ladies room, I did a google map search for “breakfast restaurants” and Smith’s popped up…. Right down the street and around the corner. So glad I found. A real authentic small town North Carolina restaurant filled with locals and serving delicious generously proportioned food & good coffee. Waitress was especially pleasant & friendly and a real delight.
Eat here if you’re in the area. You will not be disappointed.

Such a staple to visit each time I am in Rocky Mount. You can't beat the quality and quantity of food you get. Fast and easy dining experience. Make a stop by and leave with a full belly.

Holy smokes!!! Awesome place, you can't get any more delicious, authentic southern, comfort food. The place is always busy, but waiting time is not bad. Prices are very, very affordable, flavors are all there, freshness and cooked with love. Portions are just right, not skimpy or over the top, just perfect. We had the Hobbo sandwich, French toast, and Chicken Sandwich, OMG! My mouth is watering just to remember how good it was! Yum, yum!

Imagine your Southern Grandmother and your Aunties spent all day cooking and had their best day ever in the kitchen, you might get an idea of how amazing Smith’s Restaurant is. I think it’s a best-kept Nash County secret because the locals pack this place for breakfast and lunch. The food is authentic and freshly-made traditional Southern cooking served cafeteria line style. A waitress then brings drinks. The prices are too good; you would expect to pay double for such good food. And the portions are generous, attested by the numbers of working men who eat here. I’m a connoisseur of meatloaf and chicken n’ dumplings, and these are possibly the best I’ve ever had. I’ll be going back soon just to be sure. They have deserts and don’t miss Smith’s Red and White Food Store next door. Great people, great food. Founded in 1954.

The food and service was extravagant as always!! Such an awesome staff as well. Highly recommend if you're looking for some good, home cooked southern soul food.

This place is amazing. Good ol Southern Comfort food. Every single thing on the menu from breakfast to burgers are delicious. Regular or cheese biscuits are amazing.

Angel was our server and she was the best ever!! The food was great, we will definitely be back!
